The Living Library/Ask Me Anything
Inspired by real-world events of a similar nature, this week-long OOC event aims to broaden our minds and showcase the rich diversity of our community. :)

Players interested in becoming "books" pick a unique aspect(s?) about themselves. (As per RPR's rules, religious and political topics should be avoided.) It may be cultural heritage, a niche hobby, an unusual profession, etc. They then post a topic in the Smalltalk forum that includes some details about whatever they picked. Titles could be along the lines of:
  • AMA: self-employed basket weaver
  • AMA: Lakota heritage
  • AMA: kayak marathoner
  • AMA: raptor rehabilitator
  • AMA: 5 years with Parkinson's disease
  • etc!

Other players then peruse the "books" and may ask appropriate, well-meaning questions. We are here to learn about (or teach) new things, and as such, there's a possibility for some questions to be worded gracelessly--effort should be made to educate, not shame ignorance. Questions may be along the lines of:
  • What was the hardest race you ever did?
  • How difficult is typing with Parkinson's? What do you do to make it easier?
  • What do your birds like to snack on?

When the event is over, anyone who posted an AMA/LL topic gets a book accolade, and anyone who asked more than 3 questions (in any number of threads) gets a bookmark accolade. (Maybe there's some option to get multiple bookmarks in different colors?)
Name: luck of the draw

Type: IC

Description: Our GM Kim creates a matchmaking forum: fantasy, sci-fi, general

Players who want to participate go to the preferred genre and roll a 2 sided dice (to select odd or even) with the comment "available"

After you roll, 1 or 2 , you look at the list of players who have posted before you and are available and you chose odd or even person/character above you (based on your roll)

1 - odd / 2 - even

Once the match is made both players/characters update their entry with a comment "taken" + the name of their partner

They can start roleplaying right away on the chosen genre (short or long lived RPs)

You can enter as many times as desired

When: Any time of the year will do

Reward: a dice accolade on the profile or a writing feather.... like quill style one
I'm not sure if someone has posted this specific idea, but here goes nothing!

Name: Topsy-Turvy Spring Fling

Type: IC and/or OOC

Description: It's spring, and the winds of change on RPR are so intense, that it's starting to blow characters and users towards genres and areas they've never seen before!

The idea is to take a character you like roleplaying with and toss them into a roleplay of their opposite genre! That medieval fantasy character? Just got blown into a world of sci-fi and realism! That post-apocalyptic zombie character? Landed in a peaceful slice-of-life roleplay! You can also make a character just for this, or even a world for other characters to fall into and explore! It's good to expand your horizons every so often, and the winds of RPR are sure to make that happen for you!

To participate, all you have to do is make a thread in the IC Forums and mark it with the words "Topsy-Turvy" or "Spring Fling." Alternatively, you can make a topic in the Looking for RP Forums and mark it with the words listed above. Overall, it's kind of like the Trick-or-Treat and Meet Cute events combined. Participating thread makers and/or people who reply to the threads might even get a cool accolade for it!

When: Any time during spring, but maybe around the time when the Stargazer Lilies show up in the shop for some added excitement.

Reward: Either a pinwheel accolade for making an IC thread/roleplay ad and a spring breeze accolade for replying to IC threads/roleplay ads, a pinwheel (or spring breeze) accolade for just participating in general (whether making a thread or replying to one), or the simple joy and experience of trying something new!

Name: New Years For RPR

Type: IC

When: December 30th - January 1st.

Description: New years is a time many enjoy celebrating. Even those who don't enjoy going to parties on the night often watch fireworks or make resolutions to themselves. It's sad to see that despite the community engaging in such activities...

Many of our creations are not even aware that New Years exists!
Forum Games: With a title continuing "New Years", these forum games will be related to all things during new years; making resolutions in IC, a fake gift-giving game, etc.
Anyone who creates one of these games could recieve a Golden party favour as a recognition reward.
Anyone who partakes in one of these forum games could recieve a silver party favour.

Roleplays: With a title containing "New Years RP", these RPs could be related to characters making resolutions together, or going to parties. Or maybe a non-human character learning what New Years is all together?
Anyone who creates one of these games could recieve a red party favour.

A site wide RP?: This idea is more optional. A RP, created by Kim, could be made in a forum that is deemed suitable (or you could create a separate forum area like in Epic Week) where a roleplay centered around a massive New Years Eve party could take place.
For comfort purposes as well, there could be a normal one, and one for 18+ members only for those who don't feel comfortable roleplaying with younger roleplayers.
Anyone who partakes in this roleplay could receive a purple party favour

Kudos: Another optional thing, but anyone who gives 2+ kudos during this event could recieve a green party favour for spreading that new years positivity!

Oop Idea 2-

Name: Worldwide Worldbuilding

Type: OOC

When: July 26th - August 3rd.

Description: We have a lot of worldbuilders here on RPR. And even those who don't identify as such, don't realise they're creating a world with all the roleplays they do! So in a wonderful celebration of this hobby, I propose that we do a site wide building of a world.
Threads: Threads would be created for different purposes. Like epic week, these threads could be created by Kim containing specific information about what to discuss. Or Kim could create a main thread where other people could link threads they make or propose general ideas to other people.

Artists: Artists here on RPR could also get involved by being able to provide landscape art or art for races, famous people, herbs, plants, etc.

Linguists: Pretty self explanatory. Linguists could get involved by helping developing a language for the world.

Everyone: Everyone could get involved by just contributing ideas that could then be voted on by the entire group that are helping!

Not a competition, and the world doesn't need to be completed. Just a thing that happens for a few days that allows people of all kinds to come together and prove how wonderfully creative they are!

Anyone who participates in this could recieve a globe accolade (like earth) or a specifically designed accolade for an RPR planet?
