Immortality for a price. The "stacks" which is basically a downloaded human soul that can be implanted into a new body (called sleeves) and send to the stars referring to the uploading of the stacks to the satellites.

Having extended lifespans gives Meths the chance to acquire wealth and power. Laurens Bancroft is considered to be the oldest Meth, currently aged at 360 years.
The Aerium is part of Bay City where the ultra-wealthy Meths live. They are massive structures that are high above the clouds so they do not have to look at the clutter of the city below. The Bancroft family live in Suntouch House located in The Aerium.
PsychaSec is the name of the facility that Laurens Bancroft uses to needlecast his mind to the satellite.
