Far off the edge of any known planetary system, there lied a world untouched by any being. A planet known simply as the dormant world of IDM-7. The world was covered all over in snow, and suffered harsh freezing weather for anyone who was not suited to it. The only creatures that found refuge on the planet where bug like creatures, known as Monolisk, who had thermal energy coursing through their bodies, keeping them alive through the planets eternal winter. The planet went largely over looked by Humans for generations, but soon it was decided that a group would be sent out to scout the planet and see what was there.

What they found was wealth.

Beneath the snow was pockets of a red glowing crystal scattered through out the land, later to be called Arcanium. The stone held great power in it that could be harnessed to replace any resource currently known to man to power the worlds they inhabited. With this knowledge in mind, big companies, mercenaries, and private military flocked to the planet, not caring about its harsh conditions, to mine this material. They started to build bunkers all around the planet, harvesting the thermal energy whiten the Monolisk to keep there stations warm, as any other device the humans came up with would not at all be enough to sustain the cold weather. The Monolisk could often range from human sized crawlers, to massive frightening creatures, and in order to combat this most workers where accompanied with military personal, and men who would pilot large Mechs to fight them off.

Years passed and expansion across the planet grew and grew, and then suddenly it stopped. People left and right where dying from the harsh lands, and buildings crumbled under the weight of the snow and winds. It was almost like the planet was subtly trying to force out anyone that could not survive its conditions. The companies, the mercenaries, and the military, all rushed to flock off IDM-7, the same way the flocked to get to it. The Arcanium was not worth the loss in man power and resources, and the mining project was abandoned. As well as thoughts not fortunate enough to get a ride home.

Several people working for their companies, where all left behind in the confused rush, or where denied entry as there was no more room, or wanted to stay behind to collect all the Arcanium for themselves.

You are one of these unlucky few, trapped on a planet that doesnt want you there, your food is running out, the heat is slowly dying, and soon you will have to go outside and face the weather and the Monolisks if you want to survive. You still cling to hope that maybe there will be a rescue, but in the back of your mind you know that hope is frozen along with the cold surface above.
