Rahime considered the information and observed the scar carefully. "I'm not sure. That is why I want to test it and find out." He smiled as she asked how far west he was from. "Near the sea, Bryzain, near the sea. It is beautiful."

The scar was comprised of four broad strokes, much like that of the swipe of a bear's claw. She nodded and murmured her hopes that this would work out for both of them. "If it does work, this could help others. How wonderful that would be. As wonderful as the sea...I've only seen it in paintings." She took on a rather wistful look as she wondered if she might ever set eyes on it in person.

"If it doesn't work...would you do something for me? Make sure my mother knows what happened." Sad as it sounded, she smiled at him.
Rahime listened to her. "It would be." he agreed. When she mentioned her mother, he was contemplatively quiet. He should tell her. He might not get another opportunity as perfect as this. But then again, it might set her off. But if it set her off, he could really test the limits of his magic and her human and emotional strength. However, her memories of her mother were keeping her 'happy thoughts' strong. He had a feeling those happy thoughts would turn sad if she knew the truth. So, he wasn't going to tell her the truth.
"I will."

She nodded her thanks, smiling at the memory of her mom. "What about your family? Still out west on a farm somewhere? Do they know about your magic?" As they walked, she enjoyed the sunshine, hoping it might stay as warm and comforting all day. She idly curled a strand of hair as she asked her questions, remembering how much it looked like her mother's before letting it bounce back into place.
Rahime gave a slight shake of his head. "They died in a barn fire long ago. I traveled around helping out at various towns for much of my youth." He tapped his face. "Until I ran into the werewolf." He stretched slightly, taking in a deep breath. "That was when I went into magic, and into investigating werewolves. I thought it was a wolf, a real, regular wolf that had gotten me. But after our fight, he changed back into his human form from exhaustion. I barely escaped with my life, only because of his transformation back into a human. And that's how I knew what he was. So I started looking into werewolves. Everywhere I went had a werewolf story. People thought they were normal wolves, but it was always just one, one wolf that looked the same. They are in a lot more places than I ever thought. They pass off as normal wolves so easily that people think there is a pack just roaming around." He shook his head a bit.

She considered this, wondering if the pack everyone in her village had talked about really was just one. Every chicken and goat or cow that had been devoured, all by just one hungry mouth?

"Do they tend to stick around one town for very long?" She tried to keep from thinking about her father, of imagining him watching their town, hunting their livestock. Of how to tell Rahime.

"I'm not sure but I think my father...it might have happened to him too." She shook her head, face scrunched in confused concern.
Rahime looked at her. "He may have been turned into a werewolf too, you mean?" He thought over her other question. "It depends. Usually they do, if they can get away with not being chased. Lots of villages or towns get too scared to attack, and only try to set up defenses. Defenses don't deter them, but if they are chased by a group, then they would probably find a new town to stalk. That seems to have been the case, at least." He sighed a bit and looked at her. What could he tell her? The girl had been through a lot of crap.

She nodded, but her face remained pinched in confusion. "I mean they made every effort to make it out to be a hunting accident, but things were strange at that time. At the very least what killed him could have been what turned me. Though I suppose that doesn't help much of anything, does it?" She was quiet a moment.

"I'm sorry about your family. Have you been mostly alone since then? She couldn't imagine having nothing and nobody to ever return to. Though it wouldn't be safe to, the village had been an extended family and would always welcome her back.
Rahime shrugged. "Difficult to say, but possible." When she asked whether it was lonely, he sighed slightly and shrugged. "I don't really notice anymore. It seems normal to me, to be alone now." He looked at her. "I'm not used to being around people like you are."

She nodded, it made sense. And would likely be something she'd have to adjust to. She was trying not to feel an outcast, and appreciated the man at her side and what he had set out to do. But she realized where she'd lead the conversation and tried to lighten things again.

"Well, we've got each other for now, for what it's worth. Do you know any travel games we could play while we walk?"
Rahime have her a look. An 'are you a child?' look. "...no. I don't know if any...travel games." He looked back to the path and sighed slightly. Travel games? Did he look like the kind of guy who would know travel games? He regarded her for a moment, then decided to humor her. He held out his hand and three colored orbs started rising from his palm, and began to spin around.

She felt embarrassed by the look he gave her, blushing for the second time that day over saying something foolish. At his trick she raised her eyebrows, wondering what he might do with the orbs, already glad for the entertainment.

"What are those for?" She asked. "And yes travel games, the day is too young to lack enthusiasm!"
Rahime just shook his head slightly and smiled. Well, at least she WAS enthusiastic. That was something, right? He held his hand out towards the sky and the orbs jumped from his hand, swirling around in the sky above them. Then the orbs moved to hover in front of them, keeping the same distance as they walked. Each one took a turn in blinking a new color every time Rahime blinked. This was what he did on his travels, he practiced his magic. To someone else, this end result would seem more like a game or some form of entertainment. So, really, he felt like both sides won with this.

Amused, she watched the orbs dance and flicker between colors. It satiated her for awhile, and she imagined they had a faery traveling companion that couldn't decide what mood it was in. She grew thoughtful, content to watch how their light reflected in the leaves they passed.

"Do you ever have to hide your powers?" He was likely, and hopefully, the only one that would know of her other side. So she wondered how it was for him, since he didn't exactly go around performing in the last town.
Rahime was content to keep up the tricks, it helped him exercise his magic. When she asked him that question, he chuckled slightly. "Absolutely. All the time. I don't use my magic unless I know it will be well-received in the audience. It's just too risky otherwise." If it was found out by that 'special society' that he still had his magic, it could be very dangerous. But he wasn't going to tell her that, she might freak out.

She nodded as the orbs continued to bounce around. Half-heartedly she hummed a tune whose beat sort of matched their pace, finding the rhythm meditative though the lyrics were lighthearted. She swished her skirt along with the song, giving a soft clap now and then before it ended.

"Are there any songs you like?" She asked, still passing time.
Rahime couldn't help but let a small smile light his face as she hummed and danced, and he allowed her to do what she wished. He kept the orbs floating around, then narrowed his eyes slightly. The orbs started taking shapes, looking like little people, little faeries or pixies, dancing around with her.
"Songs? Hmm. I only know a couple. A tavern song or two, and a few songs I heard other farmhands singing."

She forgot about songs as soon as the orbs became objects, attention span the shortest it had been since her change.

"Rahime, they're so pretty!" She complemented. "How do you do that? What does it feel like?" She was overly curious, watching him flex his mana muscles with the wonder of a child.
Rahime chuckled slightly at her wonder. "Thank you. It's simple, really. Magical energy, using the energy of light. Light moves and changes just like the wind, and so I use it to make shapes." He had the 'fairies' dance along her shoulders and arms, and he smiled slightly.
She had childlike wonder, but it was kind of refreshing.

There hadn't been any magic users in her village (that she knew of), and the only stories to come were from traders and wayward shepards, if she were lucky enough to overhear the recollections. The energy from Rahime's magic rippled over her skin like a softened static, and made her smile all the more. She shook her head a bit as they drifted away to bob around and morph some more in front of them.

"It's nice to see you're fun, too. I was beginning to think you were all seriousness," she smirked.
