The wind blew quietly threw the trees and a young girl leaped threw the limbs of the tree tops, as quiet as a mouse. stopping for a moment she crouched on a low limb looking out into a clearing, where quite a few people had gathered. The Rangers, she knew who they where and knew they where here. dressed all in black the hood of her cloak hid her white hair easily. Celtic was homeless, she had been for quite some time. Living in the woods alone she was quite skilled at moving around with out making a sound, for the most part anyway. unknowingly the tree she had decided to hide in was dead, so the limb she was on begain to crazk loudly ~ crap!~ she thought, but just as she was about to move away from the branch it gave way under her and sent her crashing to the ground with a yelp.

Another useless meeting, thought Gritch as he stood there with his cloak around him. This was another meeting about training, a boring yearly ritual to figure out where the apprentices will end up. The words buzzed around him as he prayed not to be assigned any this time. His last apprentice got himself killed over a bet involving a girl three years ago. He didn't want to have anyone else so stupid.

These were his thoughts when a loud crack sounded over head. Heads snapped up as a figure bounced down through the tree from wich the crack came. It landed with a yelp as several Rangers drew their bows as several others ran to assist the fallen figure. Gritch just stood there and watched.

Celtic got to her feet, brushing herself off.. her hood had fallen showing off her white hair " sorry to interrupt you guys. " she said with a sky smile.. " but i was curious.. if i may join you?" she asked looking around. She seemed completely fine from the fall over then a large cut running down her right arm.

The bows were given slack and lowered, it was just a girl. "What are you doing here?" A voice asked from the crowd. It was Gritch, standing in a nonchalant way. He was amused by the girl's entrence and was glad for the stop of the meeting, even though it was almost done. Thankfully he had not been chosen this year. A woman walked up to the girl with some ointment and asked her if she could take a look at the cut.

Celtic blinked looking at the cut " neh its fine. i lived with worse.. it dont even hurt really" he said, then turned and looked to where the voice had come from " as to why im here.. well that a bit of a crazy story.. " she said scratching her head " i want to join you guys, im tired of living alone and having nothing to do with my life" she said

The lady nodded and offered the small vial of ointment to the girl. Gritch raised a brow. "What makes you think you can just become a ranger? How do we know you aren't from another kingdom wanting to set up their own Rangers program?" The man was a little paranoid of espianoge sometimes.

" im homeless" She said simply bowing her head " i never expected to list become one sir.. but my life is worthless the way it is." she said " I only ask for a chance, I only wish to be like you. To give meaning to my life and to help people, even though people turn there back on me when i needed it most" she said

Gritch fell quiet, he wasn't sure if he liked this girl's attitude. Another voiced called out from behind Gritch. "Well Gritch, since you have no apprentice why don't you take this one?"

Gritch glared at the speaker behind him but did not protest, he knew better. He simply nodded, looking haphazardly at the girl. He beckoned the girl over.

Celtic pulled the hood over her black cloak over her white hair as she walked over to him and dipped her head in greeting " Hello" she said with a soft smile.

He raised a hand in a half-hearted hello. "Are we done here?" A nod from another ranger gave him his answer. Gritch started down a path out of the woods, he turned to the girl. "You better not turn out to be some idiot that wants to learn to use a bow."

Celtic followed after him, she nodded softly " I wont" she said looking at him. " Thank you for giveing me a chance" she said smiling.

"Not my choice," he said gruffly. The man was walking rather quickly, not looking to see if the girl could keep up. "Do you have any archery skills? Do you have any anything skills?" Gritch wanted to know what he would need to focus on when training this girl.

" i do not know how to use a bow.... as for other skills.. i'm fairly good at sneaking around with out being seen or heard.. well other than the tree braking bath there" she said with a small laugh

Gritch shook his heas as he continued on the path. "It could use some work." Those were the last words he said until he came upon a small cottage wedged between a forest on the left, a large hill on the right, and a somewhat large open grass area infront. Gritch turned off of the road towards it.

Celtic followed him staying quite for the rest of the time.

As they neared the quaint wooden door Gritch turned to make sure the girl was still foloowing. When he saw she was still there he opened and held the door for her to enter. "Your room is in the back right."

It was a nice little house, but it was indeed little. In the far back there were two rooms on either side with a cobblestone fireplace in the middle of the two. On the left side of the house was a small kitchen for the table on the right side of the house. A couple small stacks of books rested on top of the mantle of the fireplace.

" nice place" Celtic said looking around and smiled a little walking over to the room that was her's.

The ranger nodded at the kind words. "Do you have anything you need to bring here?"

Celtic shook her head " no, the few things i have i keep with me" she said "i have never stay in one place for more than a day.. So it will take a bit to get use to living here" she said

"Interesting. Well for now you can get familiar with your new room. Arrange it as you wish, but do not mark it up. It is still in my house. I will see you in two hours for dinner." With these words the ranger turned and walked into his own room, closing the door behind him.
