He didn't seem to notice the sounds. His mind was mainly focused on his leg and the little girl. More so how this little girl somehow got him to turn on a contract with just a smile. He looked back to her, his face serious and then he kept going. He would stop moving and set her down, "Stay there ok.." he sat and sighed.
The sounds could now be heard clearly, not only the dound of metal, but now the sound of guns beign loaded and distant voices. Karissa looked back to Alex, then to the cave. She looked down at his leg that was still covered in blood and frowned. She had never seen blood before, so the sight was forigen to her With each passing moment, the sounds beccame louder and louder.
He smiled and gently took his mask from her. He heard it now and laughed, "Stay down, don't get up til I say to." he pulled his gun into his left hand and his sword into his right, "Do not look what I am doing. Cover your eyes," he took a strong stance, "This is a game, you do good and I will get you a prize." The click of his own gun echoed out as he put in a very special clip.
Karissa looked up at him with a blank stare, but understood the phrase 'Do not look'. She covered her eyes with her small hands and waited for a signal to look.
He limped to the cave and laughed, "Turn back now, I am known as Three. I will eliminate any that try to impede with my goals." he lifted the gun, "Warning one.." he took a deep breath and could feel everything slowing around him as he gently squeezed the trigger. The gun fired off as the bullet was blindly shot off. After a moment a small explosion was heard within. A warning he was using his explosive rounds. He was not playing around in this girls defense. "Do not challenge me in this." he prepared himself, ready to do what it took.
All the men wore matching suits to signal that they were in a group. One of the men, the leader of the group, stepped up to Alex. "We have direct orders to find project 946, dead or alive. We do not wish to challange you, just follow our orders." He pulled out a gun of his own in case Alxe tried something. The group of men obivously knew more about Karissa than Alex.
He looked at the gun and nodded, "Okay.." he tilted his head to the side, "But I warn you...you will not like this." Alex pointed the gun at the ground and quickly fired. The explosion not harming but kicking up a large wall of snow. Quick enough for Alex to shift into a new hiding spot in the shadows, "Let's play a game...survive, and the girl is yours. Die...and well you can try round two in Hell." his laugh echoed through the air. His tone was much darker now than earlier. "Question One, Who is the employer."
The leaders eyes scanned the area trying to find Alex as she spoke. "I'm not autherized to tell you nay information." He hissed pointing his gun in a random location, slowly turning in a circle to try and pinpoind Alexs location.
Another laugh, "Wrong answer..." Alex pointed out his gun and carefully placed the silencer on the end of it rapidly changed the clips, taking advantage of the echo to disguise his true location. "Know what happens when we answer wrong?" He fired at one of the leader's henchmen. He made a rapid shift in movement, tossing out a throwing knife across the way to cause multiple trees to rustle with him.
The leader stayed cautious and called out a battel formation. All of the men went back to back, avoiding the body on the floor. All of their eyes scanned for him, but they couldnt find him.
A dark laugh was heard once more, "Second Question," his cold voice called out as he watched them from his perch. "Why do you want the girl? And I would answer this one carefully, cause this is the final question..." The sadistic desire dripped off his words. It was clear, he wanted them to force his hand. His lust for blood was clinging tightly to his threatening words.
"Orders." The leader said, keeping his answers short. He tried to keep the information that he gave him to a minimum.
A breeze would force the trees to rustle as he spoke again, "Then I have a favor to ask, I need you to deliver a very simple message for me." His voice dancing around them. The breeze stopped and all grew still and quiet.
"And what might that be?" The leader sneered. He was starting to get agitated, with being messed with.
He laughed being in the middle of the rest of them suddenly, his voice dark and malicious. "Tell my good friend, Lucifer, I be home soon." He dropped down rotating his lethal blade in a vicious circle, aiming to kill off the last of these few followers.
Karissa, getting curious as to what was happening, started towards where Alex was. When she came o the area, she saw the last man fall. She stared in confusion, then looked at Alex for an answer.
Quickly put the blade in its sheath. He had to think quickly. "We are all playing Hide and Seek," he lied smoothly as he walked up and took her in his arms. "We have to go quickly, ok?" He knelt down, "Climb on my back."
Karissa looked up at him. She was still confused, but she climbed on his back none the less.
He moved off, limping away as fast as he could. He looked back to her, "Gonna get you to a good safe place." he finally made it out the woods and looked around, "See, which way." he began limping east. "You hungry, Karissa?" He had to find a good spot soon. His leg was still injured and he had to get her somewhere warmer.
Karissa caught the word hungry and nodded. Her stomach gave a little growl as an answer of its own. She also sensed that something wrong with Alex, though she didn't know what.
