Schimmel and Stirling had ended up sitting at Stirling's office table for a long time, mulling over many ideas involving what Schimmel had proposed for his master's thesis. After much thought and hesitation, Stirling finally yielded. He spoke in slow, dense segments.
"You realize... the matter you wish to pursue is nigh-impossible... and dangerous. You know that returning unsuccessful will mean you will need to find another, more suitable, project to attain your master's degree. If you still wish to continue, I cannot argue with your resolve. However, I will not be able to support you beyond this place. Once you are gone, you will be on your own."
"Yes, Dr. Stirling. I'm fully aware of the gravity of this mission. In fact, I intend to not return until it is complete, for better or for worse. I firmly believe that it is humanity's time to move on from our current state of welfare and onto greater things and potent resources. I want humanity to have conquered the solar system in my lifetime, and I will do everything in my power to assist the goal. Nobody should have to sit at a library table at our university and wonder if they have enough money to keep up with humanity's knowledge-base. A proper education should be a human right."
"Well, my boy... To meet a student as ambitious as yourself is truly refreshing. It brings me back... Anyway, take the checklist of preparations we compiled earlier and make sure you don't skip the training with Master Knuth."
Schimmel smiled excitedly, "Of course, Dr. Stirling!" He jumped out of his seat and ran to the door. Then, with his hand still on the handle and the door only half open he stopped, turned, and said warmly, "I'll bring you a souvenir."

There was no one to tell. It seemed everyone else had this huge, elaborate go-about of doing things and preparing. Maybe this was also because she wasn't completely sure if they'd let her go? She didn't have her hopes up, especially as the hour dragged on. By the end of it, she flopped her head down on the corner of her book (so not to harm the pages) and stared at the pen in her right hand, which she fooled with constantly. She looked bored and a little worried and let-down, almost.
Nemo concluded his talking with Twitch around then, though not once did Aranel look up to see if anyone relatively familiar stepped through the doors. She wasn't even focused on finding this Nemo fellow in an attempt to eavesdrop. In fact, she seemed utterly boring!
However! She was addressed. This was such a strange, alien thing to happen that at first, when she pulled her face away from the book, she looked around to make sure he wasn't talking to anyone else. The triangular imprint left on her cheek lay deeply creased in the flesh there, distorted by her ever-widening grin. He was talking to her! Awesome!
Color filled her rather pale cheeks and she had to restrain herself from bouncing too much or seeming too excited. In one quick movement, she clapped her hands together close to her chest, yipped a, "Yes!" before realizing she was loud, then hushed herself to a whisper. "Of course!"
Even though she was struggling to contain herself, she appeared to be trembling, though the quiet knocking noise coming from beneath the table revealed that she was really just rapidly moving her legs.
