Ok. I am a DND fan. I could even say hardcore fan, and that would be barely exagerated... So I was feeling kinda curious about the community's general played/never-played status for DND.

So here it is:

1- Have you ever played DND? What editions did you play? If so, did you enjoy it?
2- How long have you been playing?
3- What is your favorite race/class combination?

And my answers:

1- Yes (obviously). I played DND 2nd edition, 3rd edition and 3.5 edition. And I love it (obviously also)
2- I've been playing for a while now... I'd estimate it at about 9 years.
3- Most definitely Human Rogue in 3.5 edition. The skill boost of the human race, along with the versatility of the rogue... The possibilities are incredible! The best after that is to multiclass to Shadowdancer... That's my personal best.

Your turn!
1. Yes! And I have no idea what edition! xD I enjoyed it most of the time.
2. I played...a little bit. Way back when. x:
3. I always chose halfling rogue..because short proportional people are amazing. xD

1. I've played 3.5 and 4. I definitely like 4 a lot more. I tend to play crunchy fighter-types and they can actually hold their own with wizards and whatnot. XD I mean, in the 3.5 groups I played in, we never really had anyone obsessed with optimization, so it was never a big issue... but I'm so very aware of the differences. In 3.5, a fighter levels up and says "Oh man, I can hit things harder." But a wizard levels up and it's like "I can fly now. Oh, and I'm invisible. brb going to the moon" So yeah, I love 4... there are still classes that got shanked, but monks are actually GOOD now! And powers make me happy.

2. 5-6 years, I think.

3. Goliath barbarian. >:) Also dorf fightars. I have one of each right now in the same campaign... currently playing the barbarian. The fighter's soul is kinda trapped in a horrific pocket dimension of agony inside a demon sword. Whoops!
1. I think I was playing 3.5. My boyfriend is a huge fan and he's also his group's usual DM, so he alsways bugged me to play, but I'm too shy to role play face to face, even if I know the people. I usually end up drawing my characters more than paying attention to what's going on in the games.

2. Intermittently for 6 years. Ironically it's how long we've been dating lol.

3. I liked the Tiefling Spell Thief I made last game, I have no idea if that really works right, but I had fun making the character and it was the longest game I've played so far. I even managed to be in character part of the time XD It's actually Mephorae. And I played out Dadj's story in another game arc.
1- I'm running my own campaign at the moment, and I've played it on and off throughout the years. I've always ever used 4th edition and I like it a lot. I like all the settings but eberron is still my favorite.
2- For 2-3 years I think, but the d&ding has been on and off.
3- Changeling Bard if I had to choose, I've mostly been the DM so I haven't really dabbled in the classes much.
1: 3.5. I have the 4 books and am working with a group from school to make a 4 based group- I don't like it so far because they took away my beloved alignments away and damn it the character sheet is confusing. I'm a 3.5 gal I think.
2: Not very long actualy, 2 years. I have jammed a lot of playing in there though. Really, it feels more of a birth-right to play D&D because I'm a 3gen geek on both sides. Did my dads family play D&D every thursday night togeather? Hellz yeah.
3. ELF ROGUE! (LYYYYYYYYYYRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAA) Mostly because of the character. I enjoy everykind of class though- also like my human monk, human soceress and half-demon(kinda) fighter and half-elf cleric. Never Paladins though. Damned Paladins.
1- I played 3.5 and 4th. I only know a tiny bit of 2.5 and 3rd through games like Baldur's Gate and such. I think 3.5 and 4th both have their advantages and disadvantages, and I'm actively playing both. It gets a bit confusing, sometimes, though. I tend to stick to the 3.5 rules of movement, while they have changed at some key points in 4th edition.

2- I started somewhere in 2004, so six years at least and some months.

3- I love Wizards and Rangers, but most of all I love the Psion, both the 3.5 and the 4th version. There are basically two different Psion builts in 4th, and there are six different specialties in 3.5. I love them all, but my favourite is a high-CON low-CHA telekinesis-focused type (in 4th) and the Psychometabolism specialty in 3.5. I don't really have a preference for race, although I usually go with humans or elves. I very much love the Aerenal elves from the Eberron campaign setting, although I've never played an Eberron campaign so far.

1. I have! I have played 4th and 3.5. I prefer 3.5, but I've heard from my mother how awesome 2nd is (never shuts up and never plays 3.5 with me). I'm playing a regular Ravenloft game, and I used to play Modern as well (but we switched that game to BESM for greater freedom)
2. I've been playing D&D since I was just a young girl of 17, but I missed out on two years, so really, only three years.
3. I haven't played a lot of different classes, but I can say that I love playing a druid half-elf in Ravenloft. Otherwise I like elves and clerics.
I like being a c-c-combobreakeeeer so here's a not-DND-er answer (with my ramble-y post style):

1- Have you ever played DND? What editions did you play? If so, did you enjoy it?
No, I haven't, but I've seen a couple of sessions(one was online) and get the gist of how it works; my older brother played, if that accounts for anything. I'm going to hazard a guess and say he played the 2nd Edition? I could call, but it's 7:15~ PM at his house.
ANYWAY, he obviously enjoyed it, hard core fan as he was, and I liked watching.

2- How long have you been playing?
:( Never, bwaaah, but my brother played every weekend for a long while...

3- What is your favorite race/class combination?
>3> Dragons, and this is purely from a plot-point. I own the Draconomicon & the Draconomicon: Metallic Dragons, and I've eaten both those books up from the first page to the last. I even played a copper dragon at one of my guilds for a couple of years or so.

I guess I like, class/race wise... what were they...? "Psychic Warriors"? Ran across them while perusing the official D&D website. Granted, I like them because I also eat up anything psychic related.
1- Have you ever played DND? What editions did you play? If so, did you enjoy it?
I've never, ever played. :( I really want to! But I've never been able to find a game--and I can't afford the books right now, so I can't try to start a group in my area.

2- How long have you been playing?
N/A, because I've never played.

3- What is your favorite race/class combination?
I have no idea how good or bad a build it is mechanically, but I love dwarves and I love paladins, and I've always wanted to play a dwarven paladin. I also love playing healers in online RP and MMORPGs, so a dwarven or human cleric.

Okay, so I'm back after a long abscence (I'm sorrrrrryyyyy!)... I'm gonna reply to some of you in that post, so it might become confusing and long...

Heimdall: I never played 4th edition, so i don't really know how it plays like... but what I managed to understand was that it was very different from the 3.5, and I'm a hardcore 3.5 addict... so yeah, we never switched....

f0x1nth3b0x: Well, that certainly brings back memories... I once bugged my girlfriend to play with us too... XD And tiefling spell thief sounds really nice! My thoughts on DND characters is that you need to make them unique and fun to play, not common and overplayed builds. So yours is as cool as any other! ^_^

XinonHyena: I'm not really familiar with the Ebberon setting... I have the books (which I got in a torrent along with every released 3.5 edition books) but I never actually read them, since I usually make my own campaign worlds. But I virtually flipped through them so I know that a changeling bard could be cool!

Nefferduat: I'm right like you, although I must have played a lot less different characters... But yeah, I thought the 4th looked confusing too...

Ethelle: I started playing with the 2nd but once you go 3rd, you can never go back! I also already played a psionic, back in the 2nd gen era. He was a psychometabolist too, and it was quite cool... but I wish I could've played him more.

TheLily: That's really cool! Actually, since I started playing the 3rd, I hate 2nd edition. The worst part of that is the reason... The main point of my argument against 2nd ed is that the armor class is reveresed. So you need to hit LOWER than the armor class of the opponent, which is totally illogical, in my opinion... well whatever... 3.5 RULZ! XD

Copper_Dragon: Ok... I really need my rant moment here... WHY DID THEY TAKE THE GEM DRAGONS AWAY IN 3rd EDITION???? Ge dragons were the neutral dragons in 2nd edition and I really loved them... It added some depth to dragons, rather than making them either GOOD or EVIL. They could be naturally neutral and just do what the heck they wanted... *sigh* Nice to see I'm not the only one eating through whole DND books, though! Join the club!

Lyse: It's fun seeing that people still want to start playing DND! About your 3rd answer, I'll try to answer from a 3/3.5 edition point of view... Dwarven paladins are cool. And not even uncommon, too. Moradin (the main dwarven god in the D20 system pantheon) has many paladins. You could even multiclass to Dwarven Defender later. It's a prestige class for dwarves, a prestige class being a class that you can't start with at level 1 and that has many restrictions for you to take it, like race, alignement, skill restrictions... Ok, tell me if i lost you (which I probably did... SORRY!!!)

EDIT: GOD!!! Sorry! that post was so long to write the website logged me out before I could finish! So the previous post looks like it belongs to a deleted character... But it was really me... So if a mod or someone could just delete the previous post, it would be so kind of them! THANK YOU! and sorry for the double (mega) post...

You ask the non-DNDer that as if she's supposed to answer? Heck, I don't know why they removed them, but I believe a couple of older dragons became newer Metallic ones (Fang Dragon became... hrm... the inspiration for Steel, I think?), and the Metallic Dragons Draconomicon elaborates on the fact that dragons can be both a hinderance and a help and foes no matter their scale colors-- an example they gave was a Gold Dragon ruling a kingdom and enacting laws that oppressed its subjects' free wills in an attempt to uphold the law to extreme measures. The people would find the dragon to be a tyrant, but the dragon would think its enacting great justice.
It's what I like about the Eberron setting actually, alignments are never ever really set in the setting and they can mean very different things. Of course the dm can always decide what to do with his npcs. I love to occasionally break tradition and make traditional allies the villains.

I should read dracominicon some time too, I luv dragons. Also, on Lauren, do you mean Psions?

No.. I specifically saw what I'm sure was a "Psychic Warrior" class.

*looks it up on the site*

Yeah see, here.

Well, yeah, I know, but the Gem dragons were reeeaally beautiful too... They were all sparkly and transluscent! I like the crystal and amethyst dragons... As for the Psychic Warrior, it's not a common class, as it probably is a supplement from the Dragon Magazine, perhaps... It must be a kind of Warrior/Psion crossbreed or whatnot.

Oh, and... For anyone interested (probably Heimdall and maybe a few others...), I'm switching to 4th edition... I again got all the books in a torrent, so anyone interested in having the (almost complete collection for the 4th edition, just give me a shout, and I'll send you the torrent file!

Nope, didn't lose me. I do know a BIT of the game (mostly through Order of the Stick and LJ's bad_rpers_suck group). And that sounds pretty cool.

Erm, I would be interested? >_> Maybe I COULD actually start a group or something. Or just hoard them.
