“Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, there were two crystals. One was the Crystallum Lucis, protected by the ruler of the fairies. The other was the Crystallum Tenebrarum, which was watched over by the high leader of the witches. The Lucis was sustained by love, happiness, and joy. The Tenebrarum by fear, anger, hatred. The fairies and witches lived in harmony with the humans of the kingdom. They regulated the power of the crystals in order to maintain the balance between dark and light. For there can be no joy without sadness, no courage without fear. The kingdom was at peace for a time.”
“Then one day, a traveling bard decided to write stories, tales of the magic and wonders of the kingdom. He named these stories ‘Fairytales’. In Fairytales, light always emerged victorious and true love was a usual reward. The Fairytales spread further than could have been predicted. The humans of the kingdom began to believe that Fairytales were true, and that the magic of the witches was inherently cruel and wicked. The witches became hated and feared. Eventually, they were hunted like animals: the Witch Hunt. The high leader of the witches, in all her anger, created the Fairytale Curse.”
“You think we are wicked? So be it. Just as you have taken our happily ever afters, we shall take yours!”
“The witches used the Fairytale Curse to attack humans indiscriminately, ultimately throwing the kingdom into fear and chaos. The ruler of the fairies, the Lucis bearer, sought to regain peace. But the witches were blinded by their hatred towards humans, who were responsible for the witch genocide. A terrible war, the Great War, began. Eventually the Tenebrarum bearer, the high leader of the witches, was defeated. The Tenebrarum was lost. Peace was restored, and light once again triumphed. But darkness can never truly disappear. It waits in the shadows, patient for when its time will eventually return…”
Four years after the Great War, crown prince/princess Y/C is living peacefully in the kingdom of Angielle. Their mother had convinced and manipulated them from a young age that no one was to be trusted, and that she was the only one who would ever love them. Young Y/C believed this, and grew up only trusting their mother….until she died. The king married a new woman: a lovely baker named Ophelia. Ophelia had two children, a daughter and a son, who became Y/C’s step-siblings. Nonetheless, Y/C’s relationship with their family was strained.
One night, one of Y/C’s dolls come to life. Turns out the beloved doll was a witch, watching over Y/C ever since she was given to them at a young age. The witch cursed Y/C with the Fairytale Curse, and the next thing they know, Y/C wakes up in an alleyway, where no one remembers that they are royalty. A certain man catches sight of them, and helps them into a nearby tavern called The Marchen, which is a place where the Cursed go.
The owner of The Marchen, a kind but sickly woman, allows Y/C to stay: on the terms that they work in exchange for a place to stay.
“The people who have been affected by the Fairytale Curse typically partner up, to help break each other’s Curse faster. There are tons of people willing to help you here, so take a look around if you’d like.” The kind woman says with a smile.

Sorry for that long intro! The top half is just essential lore from the game itself, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the game.
The genre for this RP is mainly Medieval Fantasy/Romance.
This RP will have some otome-like mechanics at the start, until you choose the love interest you’d like for your character. I will be playing any necessary NPCs, side characters, and other important characters in the story. This roleplay is LGBT friendly, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be MxF if you don’t want it to be. Besides, there will be 3 female love interests and 3 male love interests.
If you’re confused on any of the lore, plot, setting, characters, or anything else, that’s okay! You can either PM me or post your question in the forum, and I’ll be sure to answer the best I can! I will also explain the Fairytale Curse mechanics one-on-one, since your character will be cursed with it as well.
Please PM me if you’re interested in roleplaying. I’ll introduce the love interests during the roleplay, just to keep things more mysterious and interesting!
