"Heh, if you think that was a threat, wait until she catches you, ya little sprite." Drake smiles coldly and watches as the fairy crosses the cavern to help Geoff.
Geoff smiles weakly at the fairy. Between his protections and magically accelerated healing, his injuries aren't critical, so he shakes his head. "Thank you, but I'll be okay soon." No squishy wizard stereotype here; that's more for the beginners and the folk who shirk their studies in medical and defensive magic. "So, this 'shard thing,' ya? That's...you're not all...you know, actually blood mages, are you?"
The wizard instantly forgets to get an answer on that as he and Drake turn their heads and pay rapt attention to Isabella's transformation...or release, from a terrifying dark mage who sees from the void to the green-eyed darling Drake first saw out at the gate.
The mercenary's eyes widen when, during the change, Isabella drops a long black sliver of clay, edged in a golden material like the translucent shard he'd had what feels like ages ago. "The kid has it? You've got to be kidding me!"
When Isabella turns to him with a charming little smirk, he visibly softens too. His cold gaze disappears and he returns her smile. Putting out and dropping the torch he taken, he walks over to her and drops into a crouch, switching tactics now that he (thinks) he knows who the shard holder is. He starts with his most basic concern, figuring that cutting to the point will spark resistance, "Hey there, you alright?"

"I can agree to that," Victi says to Liliath before changing her focus to answer Lisa.
"Which thing?" Victi chuckles as she brings the mug to her lips, "I mean, the one thing was helping each other untangle the information you found about the shards. That would be useful to both of us. We work it out, we go our separate ways, and we each do what we need to to figure out how to use that info. That kind of thing."
As she drank, Victi got a nagging feeling that she'd.... forgotten something, maybe? a clenching of dread in her gut like there was something important that she'd missed.
So far, though, it just seemed to mean she was on edge. Eh, whatever.
"These kinds of artifacts usually don't like to be as simple as 'grab them all and shove them together,' there's almost always some specific thing you have to do with.... oh, what now?" Victi begins explaining before being distracted by some noise from the back.
Outside:
The little fur-goblins had put together simple alcohol-based molotov cocktails and were throwing them.... well, a few places, but they seemed rather intent on the tea parlour, shouting about awful plants and disgusting smells. The proprietor saw this and panicked, shouting "FIRE! MONSTERS!" over and over while attempting to douse the flames.
While the burning alcohol itself was very resistant to the water, the wood it had ignited was partially doused, but there was still lots of burning starting as the cackling little beasties kept on throwing bottles and lighting long sticks to spread fire the hard way.
Up under the roof of the University's tower, the hanging figure adjusted their weapon, adjusting from a laser to a much more solid projectile....
Back inside:
"Oh, you cannot be serious," Victi sighs as the calls for help rang out into the main room, "Okay, I should probably go help with that. I swear it wasn't my fault, whatever it is."

"Right, right," Lisa finishes wrapping Liliath's hand while nodding along with what Victi says.
She smiles with relief at Adriannu as she returns and leans against the wall near their table. "There you are. what kept y-"
She jolts out of her seat, stunned silent, at the same eruption of chaos that interrupted Victi.
At the first cry of "FIRE!" Lisa's hands clamp onto the edge of the table in a white-knuckled death grip. She freezes. Shaking. Sweating. Drawing short, gasping and wheezing breaths. The unmistakable acrid stench of smoke fills the air. This is real. This is happening. Victi's promise that the fire isn't her fault is lost in the din of hollering goblins warped into the thundering roars and hiss of flame spewing from dragons' jaws, and the cries for help that echo the distant, suffering screams of her clanmates all on their own...
She cries out as her back hits something solid, the wall. She'd thrown herself into the wall. She hears glass shatter as cocktails hit the floor. I need to get out- WE need to get out.
Victi and her past forgotten, she ducks down and grabs Liliath and Adriannu by the arms, pulling them toward the first exit she spots.

Fire, did these people yell fire? Victi hadn't done it, that was good. She managed to get a quick glance of a golbin in the chaos. "Lisa don't let them see me." Liliath cried out as Lisa pulled her to the fire exit "I killed 2 of those silly man, cause they tried to kill me. Lisa I am scared." Her face had turned pale again and she looked extremely frightend around
With the oncoming fire, Kuro simply wasted no time. He quickly hurried on the rooftops, the area where he is most comfortable and can get the most amount of info. Looking at the fire, it was simply going to get bigger, and with the wind feeding it more and more, it was only going to be a matter of time before the town simply going to be ablaze.
He ran to shops close by, showing people paths they should take. He also warned people of falling debris, but due to the fear, some people ignored and were crushed by the weight below. However he knew that due to a sixth sense. He didn't really know on how to describe it. And really didn't care about said sixth sense. All it did was help in see in a different way using aura. Objects would glow black, people glow blue. And he was pretty sure it was magic.

Adriannu was about to answer Lisa's question about what had taken her so long when she suddenly heard people shouting about a fire and hr ears could pick up the crackling of burning wood to indeed confirm this. Well this wasn't the chaos she had been expected, but it could certainly worked. Victi meanwhile said that she had to help out with this and promised that it wasn't her fault, which was something that she was inclined to believe since it seemed very unlikely that she had anything to gain from starting this fire.
Lisa then attempted to grab her arm, but the child quickly pulled her arm to prevent her from doing so and shook her head before following after. If there were indeed monsters, then she didn't want to have one of her arms restrained by Lisa in case she needed to defend herself. As the Cathera followed Lisa and Liliath out, she moved her hands down to her hips and seized both of her new daggers by the handles, but didn't draw them just yet. Honestly, she really didn't want to draw her blades as she wanted to keep her "stinger" hidden from Victi as long as possible as there would be a decent chance that the kitsune would see them if she ended up fighting. However that wouldn't stop her from bringing them out if it came down to it. A hidden stringer was useless if the scorpion it was attached to was dead after all.
Once they finally made it outside, Adriannu would attempted to find a good vantage point to get a bird's eye view of the situation should one prove easily accessible. Hopefully that would be the case considering her ability to jump thirteen and a half feet.

Victi dashed toward the back of the shop... and then stopped. Through the crackle of fire and the shouts of panic, there was a sound, one most people here would overlook, but one that she was all too familiar listening for...
With the group:
As Adriannu pulled away from Lisa, the slight jerk was accompanied by a crackle barely different from that of fire and the sound something striking the floor. Something small, fast, and which had come through the upper part of the wall.
Looking would reveal a short, deformed bit of metal, slightly over 4cm long and a bit more than 1cm across embedded in the floor, and a hole in the wall on the opposite side of the room slightly larger than the object.
Victi:
Victi hadn't seen the sight yet, but the sound alone gave her an awful feeling about what was going on here.
These goblins things were just a distraction, making a fire that, hell, could probably even be managed by the services here. She bet that was planned carefully, too.
"Oooohhh no you don't. She's mine," the kitsune growls, returning the way she had come... and stumbling slightly. Something felt wrong. She... hadn't been hit, but she felt like.
SHE FELT LIKE SHE'D FORGOTTEN TO DO SOMETHING. The tea! She'd been so distracted by the steam blast, snarking at the kids, brow-beating Lisa, that she forgot to check for poison. What the hell did the girl use that wasn't being picked up by her spells, though? Anything lethal or paralytic would be picked up, and non-lethal neurotoxins that didn't reach the brain just wouldn't work while she was running mana over her nerves... Oooohhh, this was extremely bad.
That was a worry for later, though. For now, she needed to make sure she had her info source, even though said info source might have been the one to poison her. That was probably what that weird flask was, though she also wouldn't put it past the fuzzier kid with the attitude to have done... something. Never knew.
Catching sight of the trio outside, Victi lept and transversed, abruptly appearing right next to them in a shimmering of momentarily twisted space, continuing her trajectory at Lisa with all four limbs extended toward her....

Urug pauses for a moment, thinking to himself. "If the problem is the information getting out before it should, perhaps something else would be more beneficial. A method of communications out in the field, perhaps? You've shown you're capable of such things."
"The issue is less the information getting out so much as the information getting to our opposition," he explains, "I am sure you know that many magical artifacts with active effects often have specific activation conditions. I suspect that the shards have one for being combined, and the vase may have one beyond simply filling it with blood. A location, a time of day, a day of the year. At mid-day on the vernal equinox at the place in which it were first assembled or some such. Or maybe something to do with your moon, I do not know yet. If you know of it and she does not know it, I refer to the collective you, we have much more time to act and plan on how to thwart her. Actually knowing the information matter less than controlling or destroying the source. While I suppose using the Vase to banish her yourselves is an option, and would require the knowledge itself, simply making sure she is stuck with bits of inert clay is also an option, and is currently the one I am actively pushing."
"A... key peice of information," he sighs, "one which has perhaps the greatest impact on her success or failure..."
He takes a breath before revealing, "My people generated a model of the Vase, allowing us to discern how it is put together should that become the path we are forced to take, and we found something... startling. There is a tenth, previously unaccounted for shard."

She listens as she rests her head on her hand. "So, if I'm understanding correctly. You guys made like a prototype or something of this vase and we haven't a clue where a tenth one is?" She asks as all this talk began confusing her. She holds her head as if to try to stop all the thoughts from making her head spin.
"We did construct a model, yes. There is a... a gap in the model. Two gaps, actually, which seem to correspond to the mountings of a second handle," he confirms.
His tone softens then as he says, "Miss Geist.... you seem a touch distressed, which is understandable given all of the information there is to process. If an intermission is in order, please let us know. We can reconvene when all are ready to continue."

She sighs softly. "No... No I'm just processing I guess. I still dont even understand why I was entrusted to have one. I mean I will protect it with my life, but this is nuts! I-I mean, I'm a demon! A demon entrusted with something so important? It seems like some sort of joke, doesnt it." She chuckles as she buries her hands on her hands. "I... I'm sorry. Just a bit overwhelmed right now..." she says as she thinks about something that she has yet to even talk about or even allow herself to feel.
"Objects of power move from person to person in ways which are highly unpredictable, lost, found, stolen and more more often than any other item, and often without either party even being aware of the object's true nature," the magistrate says with a chuckle, quietly stroking his barely-visible whiskers, "Entrust is an interesting word to use, thought perhaps not wrong depending on the nature of the objects. I can promise that you are not alone in your uncertainty about this, however. Raven, I think you understand of who and what I speak."
Raven watches intently as Jules slips more and more into a minor existential crisis or...something. Her apology, muttered after a nervous laugh through her hands, is a such a familiar line, Raven swears she’d heard it a dozen times before.
Because I have, holy whiskers.
She shakes her head with a quiet, “what a coincidence” sort of chuckle that dissolves into soft, soothing purring. She drops off the table and strolls toward Jules. Butting her head gently against the shin of a distressed healer, letting her know it’s okay and that she’ll be with her through whatever happens...what a habit to have.
Raven coils around Jule’s ankle, waiting to be pet and/or lifted into her arms. She looks up, nodding assuringly at Jules and also in agreement with Kylarion. “I know I know,” she rumbles, smiling. Behind the gentle offer of comfort, guilt squirms in Raven’s belly, hitting her with the reality that she’s not there with the person she really needs to be with. “Alive,” as Kylarion promised her Lisa was, does not mean “OK.”
I have to find her soon.

She relaxes a bit before picking her up and giving her pets. She sets her on her soft lap as she pets her softly. She notices her worry a bit and then hugs her softly. "Is there anything I can do to help you feel better?" She asks as she scratches under her chin. "You're helping me, so it's only fair afterall." She lightly giggles as the heaviness weighing on her heart lifted slightly.
Isabella's face lightened further when Drake squats down and pays full attention to her. Her smile widened and she began slightly twisting back and forth on her ankles. She had no idea the shard was likely the only reason for this, nor did she realize anyone else had seen it.
"Yes," she claimed looking merrily into Drake's eyes, then her gaze jumped off to Geoff without moving her head. Instantly her expression changed, the joy failing and replaced now by scrutiny. "I just don't know why he's here," Isabella said softer, hoping Geoff wasn't about to hear her. She stepped closer to Drake and leaned in as if to tell him a secret, and indeed that was what she planned to do, in her eyes. "He just tried to arrest me...."

Lisa's fine with Adriannu following closely behind. But she pulls Liliath closer as they run. The crack of the bullet, similar to the spreading flames, but sudden, closer and sharper, startles her into losing her footing and tripping when they hit the exit. Lisa collapses out onto the street, having only enough presence of mind to release Liliath's arm so the girl doesn't fall with her amidst the stampeding crowd.
Pulling herself back up before someone kicks her to the pavement, Lisa frantically scans the street for the girls, spotting Adriannu peeling away from the group and leaping to a higher point of view. "No!" Not up, don't ever go up when to flee monsters that fl-

The streak of white blazing from out of a shimmering nowhere blindsides her. Lisa hardly gets out a scream before Victi, stripping herself of the illusion to reveal herself in all her vulpine glory, grabs her.

The cat stops purring as her eyes widen. Was I really telegraphing it that much?
She heaves a long, heavy sigh, exaggerating a flop in Jules's arms to make it look a little like a joke. She smiles and purrs again as she welcomes a scratch behind the ears. "This is helping a little." And later, you can help me a lot more.
She remembers that Jules can sprout wings and fly, which is perfect. Raven doesn't know where Telmarune is in relation to here, but she hopes it's close.
"Ten shards. Nice; I like a good even number." She pauses, savoring Jules's pets. "...What made it hard to account for at first?"

"Surprise," Victi growls as she takes hold of Lisa, "Guess your benefactor likes winning more than they like you."
Technically, Victi didn't know that for sure, but she strongly doubted anyone else had long-range rifles with piercing-assist magic on this planet yet. And hey, it might sound convincing even if she were wrong, worth a shot.
At the same time, she focused on the feel of Lisa's aura, and twisted space, yanking the two of them to a spot outside the city, not too close to her Shriker, it could be being watched, but close enough it wouldn't take long for it to get to her. She called it immediately.
"So, poison huh?"

What?
What!?
Victi's words sting in her ears, accompanying a surge of dread as the chaos around them ebbs and fades completely, being replaced in seconds by the relative tranquility of a sparse stretch of woodland. All is quiet except the breeze rustling the brush and the calls of birds and small beasts going about their own business.
Lisa stares up, apparently frozen stiff, until as if a lever switched in her head, she springs into action, swiping at Victi with one hand while the other goes for her dagger. The hand she strikes out with is tipped with long black claws...
Ow...owow STOP! She can't...she can't shift. Even that subtle change steals so much of what little energy she has that Lisa collapses onto her knees, cradling her head in her hands as her temples pound, her ears ring and her vision goes dark. The claws recede; going much further or longer might straight-up knock her out.
She doesn’t hear what Victi had to say about poison, after about of minute of lying there, wheezing while tears prick at her eyes, she looks up, and around, realizing they're not where they were just moments before.
"Where are we? Girls?"
No answer, at least not from who she wants to hear. The children are gone.
"Girls!" She leaps to her feet, sort of. Lisa's up for a about a second before she falls again, this time catching herself on the trunk of a tree. She leans against it and snaps, "What the hell did you do to me?"
