This is partly a game, and mostly a roleplay.
This will be in the public forums!
2019. A year that's more dangerous than ever; a year in which people are afraid to leave the comfort of their homes and allow their children to do the same. And yet, teenagers and children don't seem to be too effected by the outside world and the horrors it holds both in it's history and in it's people. They don't care and will happily travel out alone.
Unfortunately, that has lead us here. But perhaps to no fault of their own.
You're all trapped in a cave. After exploring, the entrance "unexpectedly" collapsed and trapped you all within it's darkness. However as you move a few rocks aside, you discover a link of caves and ravines.
Now it's time to figure out what is REALLY going on...
You're located on the Heshling Estate, a large plot of land which the murderer's parents own. It has three separate cabins, many caves, a mining ravine and many cliffs located within its vacinity. These are all surrounded by miles and miles of forest, trees, ancient totums and inscriptions from the locals that once inhabited the land they were now on.
[Map is currently in the process of being made]
Like any decent roleplay, there are rules.
Characters will have these different traits which a dice will determine their skill levels in:
Medical Skill
Athletic Skill
Wisdom Skill
Strength Skill
Creativity Skill
Invention Skill
Different roles will also recieve extra modifiers during certain actions.
Murderer;
Child of a Police Officer;
Child of a Doctor;
The Comedic One;
The Wise Cracker;
The Dice System will be as following:
Inscriptions are located around the site in many different places. They are in a language no one will be able to understand, but the colours are indeed one thing that you all remember....
Red; Danger of Death
Yellow; Proceed with Caution
White; Safe
Black; Disturbance of Balance
Blue; Uncertainty.
You do not get to choose your role.
I will role a dice randomly, and then PM you with what role you have. Then I will "educate" you on your abilities, modifiers, and alert everyone else of your abilities.
DO NOT SHARE YOUR ROLE WITH OTHERS!

A bit of Backstory
Last year, on this night... Something tragic took place. The murderer's sibling was found dead at the bottom of a cliff, after running away from their group of friends after some horrific teasing about them and one of their flaws.
They miss their sibling dearly, and blame the friends for their death... So they have invited them all back here to reunite in peace. However, it isn't long before things turn sour.

Characters will have these different traits which a dice will determine their skill levels in:
Medical Skill
This is the skill that determines how good your character is at medical assistance and their knowledge of the subject. The character you choose to play with will increase the chance of you getting a higher skill, or a decrease the chance.
So if you choose a child of a doctor character, you will have a +20 modifier. If you choose a child of a nurse character, you will have a +14 modifier. If you chose a character with no medical knowledge, you will get a modifier of -10. If you have an average character who has done the standard medical knowledge (how to bandage, disinfect, etc) you won't have any type of modifier at all. These modifiers only contribute to figuring out the overall skill. After that, your skill level becomes the modifier for the rest of the RP.

This is the skill that determines how wise your character is; how much general knowledge they know. This wisdom attribute only applies to general knowledge and their knowledge of the world and it's events. The character you choose to play with will increase the chance of you getting a higher skill or decrease the chance.
If you choose a character who is really involved in politics, socialism, capitalism, etc. then you will have a +14 modifier. If you choose a character with no real interest, you won't recieve a modifier. If you choose a character that tries to steer away from politics at all costs, then you'll recieve a -10 modifier. If you choose a character who works out a lot, and has a strong physique, you will recieve a +20 modifier. If you choose a character who has a vaguely normal physique, you won't recieve a modifier. If you choose a character who is incredibly weak, you'll recieve a -10 modifier. These modifiers only contribute to figuring out the overall skill. This is the skill that determines how creative your character is. This means generating ideas, not necessarily crafting them. The character you choose to play with will increase the chance of you getting a higher skill or decrease the chance.
If you choose a character who loves to draw, took art in school, or in general is a highly creative and imaginitive person, then you'll recieve a +14 modifier. If creativity is not specified, you will not recieve a modifier. If you choose a character who is highly logical, then you'll recieve a -10 modifier. These modifiers only contribute to figuring out the overall skill. After that, your skill level becomes the modifier for the rest of the RP.

Invention Skill
This is the skill that determines how good your character is at making things. This doesn't mean thinking up ideas; just displaying others. The character you choose to play with will increase the chance of you getting a higher skill or decrease the chance.
If you choose a character who loves to just randomly create pictures or little sculptures, then you'll recieve a modifier of +14. If it is not specified, you will not recieve a modifier. If you choose a character that is highly logical, then you will recieve a modifier of -10. These modifiers only contribute to figuring out the overall skill. Child of a Police Officer;
The one who has spent their entire life in their parent's shoes, figuring out crimes and solving clues.

The Wise Cracker;
The one who has a large knowledge of the world, but puts all that wisdom into cracking funny jokes about politics, TRUMP, etc.

The Dice System will be as following:
Dice will be used to determine certain outcomes in which I would like to make out of our control; just to make it a little more random and fun.
1 - 25 = You try to help, and simply make the situation worse.
26 - 50 = You only just manage to help; it may go wrong in the future.
51 - 75 = You help, and it's not going to go wrong in the future.
76 - 100 = You helped, and luck seems to be on your side; you get something extra too.
26 - 50 = You only just manage to help; it may go wrong in the future.
51 - 75 = You help, and it's not going to go wrong in the future.
76 - 100 = You helped, and luck seems to be on your side; you get something extra too.
Modifiers will be added for the appropriate characters and where applicable.

No magic at all.
Modern
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Details: Character sheets & strict mechanics, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.
I think I'd be up for trying this and whipping up a new character based on the assigned role.

I'd be interested in making a new character for this, too. Not only is it interesting but I think it'd improve my roleplaying as well, as I'm trying to branch out and get more creative.

Honestly, that's exactly why I came up with this. I've never done GMing (at this level) before, and I'll be honest, I have never used dice systems ever in my whole roleplaying life time. This is mainly an experimentation for myself to see if I'm actually any good at having a controlled D&D environment haha.
Hey I may be interested

Personally, I find the hardest part of GMing in a forum environment is keeping up momentum, particularly when a key player disappears for a long while (which is bound to happen eventually with a group of 6). I'm just recommend being prepared to step in and take over a PC when needed to keep things moving (within reason of course... my own personal rule of thumb is about a week of waiting on someone.) .
But it's a cool concept. I'm looking forward to trying it out!

Yeah, I can see how that probably would be a problem. It happens a lot, I've seen, not just in RPs like this but normal writing RPs like normal too. I'd say 5+ days would be my sorta disappearing limit, but that might just be because I'm an incredibly impatient person...
Impatience.
I'm impatient hoping you get these three more people. Ha
Makes me feel a little better than you're doing new things, too. I always have a fear of sharing that something is new(er) to me, because then maybe they won't want to reply to me, take me seriously, or something...
It's never happened, but I always worry!
*Also Excited*

I'm messaging everyone I know to see if they'd like to join. I might've gotten one person, but they're not too sure yet. Hopefully by tomorrow this can get up and running.
*excitement intensifies again*
So while I couldn't get anyone to join, the guy I was talking about last night has agreed to help me make sure the dice system doesn't total flunk out on me. So woo.

I realised a calculation error on my part I changed it lol.
Only looking for two people, not three.
Only looking for two people, not three.
I was wondering about that... but I wasn't going to question the GM .
At least it's still beneficial!
Even if this takes a while, I'll still be interested, probably, so, whenever it happens.

Question me all you want lol! I'm still human, and I make mistakes.
...I make lots of mistakes since in only 14 but yknowwwwwww normaaaaalll!
In case we have trouble filling these last two slots a friend of mine said they would possibly consider it, but it ain't a definite. Honestly all it is now is the waiting game, and then we should be good to go.
I would like to join this. Are you okay if I might not be on much? I'm going on a road trip soon.
If anyone wants to join now before I get a response from Storm, now would be the time to do so!
This is still open and possibly being done, right?
Just waiting?
I'm just wondering because I'm still excited about it, and while I'll be sad if it's not a thing, I just keep looking for this post every time I log in.
