This random topic isn't about me, but someone who I really care about.

This may not seem important, but I do want someone to listen.

You see, my boyfriend who is turning 30 this year has been schooling in our University for almost 7-8 years. He was supposed to graduate 12 years ago at his old University in Guam. However, due to his mother's assumptions that he was distracted by his surroundings (being an Otaku and all that), she forced him to study here in the Philippines.

He has been through many rough times--being swindled, snatched, lied and tricked. It hurts me knowing that he's been able to face them...on his own. For 7 years, he's been living alone. No one to depend on besides the friends he has gained in conventions and in anime groups here, but since these friends are those who already have work, he is often lonely...

Anyway, for the whole time he's been here, he always had trouble in school. Teachers lose his papers. His classmates don't inform him of assignments and projects. He's always late in everything and always misunderstood. Most teachers in my uni have always had favoritism--well, except for a good few including my mother--but because of favoritism, they treat him badly. They tell him to just give up, to leave, to stop everything and just go away. They treated him like he was a troublemaker. They hate him and I know since I was once his classmate.

Today, I'm 20, turning 21. I've already graduated and already teaching as well. I've known my boyfriend since 2nd year and there was a time a teacher called him a disgrace for not knowing our language. What does this teacher expect? He's a foreigner! Just because he looks like us doesn't mean he knows that language. He wasn't raised here...

My boyfriend has gone through a lot of teachers who hated his guts and just simply looking at him, and because of that, they keep giving him problems, leaving him to the point that he can't graduate. If they hate him so much, why can't they just let him go. Give him his diploma, so he could leave. Don't just let him stay longer. He doesn't like it as much as they do...

Him leaving is one thing that hurts me, but seeing him leave empty-handed and heading home to see all his friends married and with jobs is even worse. I know getting a diploma isn't what's important. It's what you do in your life that counts, but he has always put himself down because of it--because of his age and the fact he hasn't done much yet. I want him to be proud of himself. I want him to be happy... Even if it means not seeing him anymore, I want him to have the life he has always wanted. A successful and happy life...
