Shuin Ji-Chung (played anonymously)

He kept a casually swift pace as he made his way through the park, it was early afternoon and teeming with civilians young and old. This was a safer area of a meeting spot, as the park was near-downtown and quite popular. It was also well kept, unlike many others in the city. Shuin's phone riddled off a quick tune, and glancing at the message, he took a sudden left towards a more enclosed area, in which trees lined the path and bicyclists tended to rush through. His meeting had been botched, and Shuin slowed drastically as he replied to his informant.

A cool breeze tickled her skin, sending chills up her spin. The wind played an invisible game of tag with fallen leaves that skittered about. Crystal blue eyes skimmed the pages of an open book. Sydney was enjoying herself immensely, laying down on her stomach in the crisp, green grass. With her legs criss crossed in the air, she hummed to herself flipping through the pages. From the corner of her eye she noticed a shadow. Normally she would pay no mind to such things, focusing only on what was in front of her. But this time around, she lifted her head to get a better look. It was a black haired male, busily texting away on his phone. What a shame... today is to nice out to be so caught up with electronics.... Crap. I sound like an old woman. Shaking her head, she returned to her previous activity.

Rolling his eyes as the message was on it’s way, Shuin pocketed the device and moved towards an almost lime green bench. The park was the precise opposite of his mood, but chasing leads from this particular individual had never been reliable. I may have to let him go, Shuin thought as he observed his surroundings. It was cool, but just enough to still be comfortable. He picked at a fray on his jacket, throwing it to the wind. The autumn air would normally bring out plentiful dog owners on the weekends, but it was only nearing the lunch hour of Wednesday. The field across from him held just a few people in it; some preteen girls with a Frisbee, a mother and her toddler, their dog, and a neko girl with her book. Shuin sighed, a bit envious of the simplicity in their lives. Smiling to himself, he got up and set across the field. He would not miss out on Kamehachi’s box special, if he could get there in time.

As he made his way across the well-cut grass, Shuin quietly continued to observe the inhabitants. The group of girls were getting rowdy, often missing each other’s throws as the plastic disc took some pretty wide angles every now and then. A mother spoke in polski disciplining her young boy, not paying any mind to the pup whose leash she had forgotten. The thing chased after one leaf and then another, getting slightly farther and farther from it’s owners. Then it took off, yapping at the girl with a book.

Immediately, the woman chased after it, tugging her son along as she shouted at the dog’s poor behavior. The pup was closing in, Shuin watched with amusement as it slowed and then rolled on it’s back near the girl.

Upon hearing a dog barking, she sat up quickly her eyes wide in fright. She looked around frantically, looking for a huge animal hurtling itself toward her. She clutched her book close to her chest, shutting her eyes as she waited for impact. After a moment she realized her imagination got the better of her, instead of snapping jaws she opened a single eye seeing a small puppy rolling on its back. She never had a pleasant time with dogs, but the puppy seemed to beg for attention. She reached out a hand, petting the soft belly of the pup. She smiled at it's innocence. The small dog licked her hand, yipping happily. She removed her hand quickly, scrunching up her face, wiping the slobber from her skin.Gross, she thought as a women ran toward her with a child on her hip, since he was too small to keep up with her. The women kept on saying sorry, over and over again as she blushed embarrassed at the puppies actions. Sydney could only smile. "It's alright. Though you might want to hold the leash tighter next time." She said handing the leash over, to the relieved mother.

She waved good-bye to the family. The women scolded the dog in a hushed tone, though Sydney doubted it understood a word she said as it tilted its head. Rather it decided to chase after a cricket, pulling the woman and child away. Sydney watched them, feeling sad almost. She wiped away the emotion. All she wanted was to bathe in the suns heat. The wind had other plans though. It suddenly got colder, making her uncomfortable in her short sleeved shirt. Deciding it best to probably go home, she got up, brushing off blades of grass and dirt. She walked out of the field past families and other strangers, who were enjoying the day, not even realizing the change in weather. She sighed, mumbling to herself. "Should have listened to the forecast. It said it was going to be breezy." She shivered as another breeze of harsh wind blew against her, as if telling hr to get lost. "Alright! Alright! I'm moving!" She called out to no one particular, as she made her way to the cemented path. She once agains saw the young man from earlier, sitting now on a bench. She knew it would have been polite to say hello, but at this point and moment all she cared about was going home and putting on a sweater. She rushed by him without a word, with only one direction in mind.

He watched the scene at a slight distance, having nearly crossed onto a packed dirt-and-sand path. Lost in the simplicity of the moment, reality clicked in as the girl handed the small dog's leash back to it's owner. Shuin turned away, checking the time as he did so. 'They'll be closing soon,' he realized adding some extra speed to his pace. The small corner restaurant was within walking distance, no more than seven minutes away. He glanced back over his shoulder at the girl as the path wound behind a small hill, eventually leading off to the street-edge.
