It sighed, wanting to intervene, but unable to due to the laws governing it's stay in this realms.

It stepped forwards, shadows extending to stop them, reaching towards them before drawing to a halt, as it was unable to directly influence events. "Let him go." It said, hoping that it would still be able to assist.
She laughs evilly, "Never."
It turned to The Warden, it's tone remorseful. "I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do. At least, not here."
"No one will help you" she smirks.

The shadows lengthened, wrapping around her ankle and tightening as it made a keening noise, steam rising from it's form.
She looks down and tries to remove it from her ankle, "What the...?"
It pulled, the noise rising in pitch as it was hurt more and more by the laws restraining it.
She lets go of the Warden and holds her ears because they were slightly sensitive to the high noise, "Ngh...make it stop..."
The shadow unwrapped, quickly retreating as it collapsed to the ground, a pile of rags and darkness.
He gasped and ran away. "Freedom!"
