Daimonas leaned against the wall of an alley that was outside of his work, a cigarette in his mouth. He took another drag of the addictive nicotine wrapped up tobacco before throwing it to the ground and stomping out the last of its glowing embers. He walked back inside the building, ready to finish off the rest of his job. He really was getting tired of this game he was playing, always keeping himself closed off to his friends, having a shroud of mystery always around him. No one knew who he really was or even what he was, where he had been, what he had done, nothing. He never mentioned his past to anyone, never broke down, and sure enough, he had only been in one relationship and he ended it because the girl trusted him and wanted him to open up to her. He finished washing the last of dishes, the place was closed and everyone was gone except for him. His boss told him to lock it up tonight after he finished the dishes. Dai noticed that there was a purse sitting on top of one of the tables, as he walked out of the kitchen to wipe down the tables. He went over to the purse and picked up. "Huh. Guess some unlucky girl left. I'm sure she'll come back for it." He put the purse under the bar they had and went to wiping the tables.
The sun was setting as a young girl about 18 ran down the narrow pavement to the diner at the end of the street. She was in the diner earlier discussing work with a man and she had left her bag there. She picked up the speed, her blond hair whipping around her face in the wind. "Got to get it, got to get it." she mumbled as she reached the diner, banging on the doors in the process. "Let me in!" she called through the closed doors, reddening her knuckles in the already cold night. "I left my bag in here!!" she called hoping for someone that hasn't left yet.
Dai flinched when he heard someone banging on the door. He set the stuff in his hands down and went to the door. He unlocked the door to panicked woman. "I just found your purse, wait here, ma'am." He went to where he put the purse. He grabbed and gave it to her. "Here you go."
"OMG, your a life saver!" Alex said going through her purse and making sure everything was there. When she double checked she looked up and smiled. "Thank you." she said again and hugged the waiter. All her clients contact info was in here and the info of her targets, she she would be dead if she lost it, literally. "Is there anyway I can repay you?" she asked hanging the purse over her left arm.
Dai was surprised when she hugged him. "Uh.. It was no problem, you really don't have to do anything. It is just my job, ma'am." He said, a small, very light blush on his cheeks from the hug. Since he didn't have his parents around and he kept his distance from his friends, he really didn't have physical contact.
"Are you sure?" Alex asked dusting her jacket out and straightening it. The night had gotten a little chillier and the wind was picking up some, looking like a storm was coming. "You saved my purse, I have valuable things in here. Are you sure you don't want me to repay you?"
Dai could tell that this girl wasn't going to stop bugging him about her repaying him for returning her purse. He thought quickly, knowing that this was a stupid idea. "How about a date, then?" He asked. He didn't want to seem like some kind of player, because that couldn't be farther from the truth.
Alex was a little stunned, but used to boys asking her out all the time. She recovered with a smile and took a piece of paper on of her purse and a pen. "How about this Friday at 9, at the movies?" She asked writing her phone number and address down on the paper while the wind died down a bit. She put the pen back in her purse and gave the paper to him, waiting for an answer.
Dai took the paper and nodded. "Sounds good to me. We can pick out a movie when we get there, is that alright?" He wasn't use to asking girls out or planning dates, it was so long ago did he go on a date. He put the piece of paper in his pocket, making a mental note to take it out later when he had to change out of his waiter uniform.
"Perfect!" Alex said giving a broad smile and flipped her blonde hair. See you Friday!" She called over her shoulder as her friend pulled up beside her in a truck and told her to hop in the trunk. "Honestly Jake, this is exactly the reason I broke up with you last year!" She said plyfully, jumping into the truck bed with her other friends and stealing a beer from a red haired girl. She waved to Dai as Jake pulled out of the parking lot and into the chilly night.(( sorry lazy.))
