Zayne moved on, two soldiers following him as they headed in the direction that elise was hidden in. The other men watched Dadj. The bowman drew back another arrow and aimed it at him, prepared to shoot again if he moved. They watched him for a while before going after Zayne, unless of course, he made any attempt to get up again.
Dadj knew how to play this hand pretty well. He struggled to breathe a moment more, the blood flecking on his lips. But soon, he went limp and lifeless, letting his eyes stare at nothing like a doll.
Of course, as soon as he thought himself unwatched, he would get up, swords in hand. These men threw the first punch, so to speak and he wasn't above returning the favor with a few sword strokes.

The leader of the men had seemed to disappear as he was no longer with the group, nor was the man who appeared to be his right hand man. All that remained was the small group of men that had attacked Dadj. They thought that they had killed him so they went back to searching. "Looks like Lord Zayne has left us." One said, "Sir Jaiden too," The other added. "I wonder why he suddenly called for the execution of his wife." They chattered among themselves. One snapped "Shut up! Our orders are to find the woman and bring her to Lord Zayne!" They all moved towards where Elise was hidden. Elise did everything she could to keep from screaming
Dadj stood up shakily. The arrow was probably lodged in some sort of nerve pocket that was causing him to move funny. No matter. He pulled the thing out and dropped it on the ground.
"Rude. Rude is the first word that comes to mind when you shoot a man in the middle of talking." He dusted himself off and poked at the bloody hole in his clothing. That probably pissed him off the most.
"You gentlemen, are rude," he stated while pulling his dual short swords free.

Haha I found that more amusing than I probably should have.)
The group of men stopped their horses when they heard the man speak. They turned around, facing him as they drew their swords and arrows. "you should have just stayed dead, fool." One said to him, as he got off of his horse and drew his sword as he walked over to..dadj. He went to stroke him with his one handed sword.

"I can't, tricky thing I am." He shrugged in mock apology and met the man with the sword. He was less inclined to be safe now that these men knew his trick, so he used his arm to block the swing. Luckily, his leather bracers would prevent his forearm from being chopped right off. The deep gash would heal by the time Dadj's twin swords struck at the man in unison.
not going to be able to post as often, sorry! I will hopefully be more active in a week and a half)
The man watched as his sword caused no damage, it healed all by itself! He looked at Dadj before his swords sliced through the man. The others yelled. The arched pulled his bow back, sending an arrow for Dadj's head, but his arm was shaking due to what had just happened. The other three men got off of their horses and charged at Dadj. You'd think they would have stayed on those horses but they weren't that smart.

(And then I got sick and busy As long as you post sometime, I don't mine waiting a few days or a week So long as your lenient with my random absences too ><)
Dadj only saw the arrow coming in time to make sure it did not hit him right in the head. Thankfully, it whizzed past his face, leaving only a slice in his cheek to remind him how close it was. At least it wasn't another hole in his clothing, he mused to himself.
The ranger welcomed the footmen with open arms, and swinging swords. He would make short work of them, were he able to. Now that they'd dismounted, he thought this was his chance. He tried out a spell, thought his magic was little used and likely rusty. He called up the roots of a nearby tree in an entangling spell to trip up the soldiers, so he could steal a horse.

rolled 1d6 and got 6
2,4,6 = Spell works. 1,3,5 = Spell does not go as planned
The men all collided against each other as the roots ripped out of the ground, causing them to fall forward and drop their weapons. They all groaned in pain. Some of their feet got caught in the roots and were unable to free themselves from the trees. It was as if these weren't soldiers at all but children. The men squabbled to try and get free, not really paying attention to the strange man.
Dadj watched this all happen with an expression caught between surprise and smug contentment. He still had it, after all these years. "A fine crop of idiots I've grown here. I should reward myself... Oh," he exclaimed while turning to the horses. "It looks as if my reward is standing in wait."
He availed himself of one of the mounts and bid the blundering men adieu with a wave and a wink. "You should pick yourselves, boys, I'm afraid I'm not going to stick around for the harvest." Climbing easily onto the horse, he asked it to move forward toward the direction Elise was hidden and Zayne had gone.

The men laid there, trying to get to their feet but only managed to fall again, humiliated. Elise was luckily still where he had left her. She was cowering in the roots of the tree, her blue eyes glowing from the moonlight. When Dadj would return she would slowly come out, clinging to the bag still. She looked around and then back at him. "He... he passed through here but.. I think he is gone now..." She whispered as she kept low to the ground.
Dadj was sliding off the horse before it had come to a full stop. He eyed Elise and then the woods around them, as if expecting Zayne to come out of the darkness. He made a face.
"If that is so then let us be on our way." He wasn't sure the man would just ride off and be done with it, so he motioned for her to come to the horse. If she needed it, he would help her up, albeit a bit roughly before sitting the horse himself, just behind her.

She quickly ran over to him, looking at the horse. She then held the bundle to her chest as she tried to pull herself onto the horse with one arm. She refused to let her bundle go which resulted in Dadj roughly helping her up[ She was so small compared to him and the horse. Her cheeks were red from the chilled air, she was very cold since her adrenaline was wearing off. In the distance they could hear yelling. The man yelling was definitely the man searching for Elise. Elise whimpered, looking back at Dadj "Huryy!" She whispered as Elise's name echoed through the forest. her small shoulders trembled as she shriveled up against Dadj. She really was a helpless frail woman.
Dadj was hurrying already. He didn't want to have to dismount and fight this guy. Not because he was a coward or anything, but he'd just gotten a free horse! His arms were around her, but held at just enough of a bend to not be touching her as he slapped the reins on to the horses neck to urge it faster.
Elise whimpered against him as they rode on. Luckily, they somehow managed to get away from the man that was after Elise. The small woman looked up at Dadj, her eyes searching his face before she looked forward, hoping she had made the right decision, trusting this man.
Right decision or no, she was stuck with him for now. At least until he decided they were far enough away, or her coin dried up.
"Where am I taking you?" His voice was even, as if he was unperturbed by the events that just transpired.

"J-Just head east... I know that... that we're far away from the ocean... but I want to leave this country. So take me to the docks in the east." She said looking at him. "Can you do that?" She asked him, looking up at him with her dazzling blue eyes. She shifted on the horse a bit, shivering from the cold brisk air.
Dadj grunted in reply, nodding his head just slightly. He hadn't bothered to look down into her face, only to glance at the stars. With their help, he divined which direction was east and made sure the horse was heading that way.
Were he allowed, he would ride all night, or until the horse tired. He had no need for sleep at this time.

Elise however, wasn't going to last the night. She was extremely tired and weak. Once it was the early morning she looked at him. "Please... can we stop just for an hour... I am... I am tired." She whispered. She leaned against him, holding the bundle to her tightly. She could not sleep on the horse for fear of falling off.
Dadj rolled his eyes, but it was unlikely to be seen in the darkness. He stopped the horse without a word. Truthfully, the beast was probably thankful for the rest as well. The Ranger slid off the horse and lowered Elise down with as much decorum as before. The horse was led toward a tree, where he could be tied off and Elise was left to walk after them.
Luckily, Dadj had some blankets in his pack which he tossed to Elise.
