She didn't let the mans lack of compassion bother her. Or rather, she was too tired to really care. She took the blankets and laid down, holding her bundle of whatever it was. Before they knew it, she was sound asleep. After about twenty minutes, if he was looking, he'd notice the bundle started moving. Soon a little head popped out. It was a little girl, probably four or five. She had long black hair and pale skin like her mother. Her blue eyes scanned the area before she wiggled out of the the bundled blankets that had hid her and out of her mothers arms. She looked at Dadj if he was around. The little girl got to her feet, she too had blood on her, but looked unharmed for the most part. "Hey you." she said to dadj. The fearless little girl would walk over to him, curious
Dadj had retired in the roots of a tree parallel to where Elise had fallen asleep. He lay with his back against the trunk and his eyes half lidded. He hadn't noticed the child until she was walking toward him. But he did not react.
He lifted his brow at her words.
He lifted his brow at her words.
Who are you?" She asked softly. "Where are we?" She looked back at her mother and then at him. She offered him a childish smile "My names is Raine!" She smiled. "Are you mommies friend? Are we going on a trip?" She bolted her questions at him, seeming to be unaware of the situation at hand.
Dadj let her spew her questions like most children did. When she got for the last one and seemed to wait for a reply, he simply gave her: "Yes, you should sleep." He was hoping the child would settle down and he would not have to deal with her for the night while her mother slept. But Dadj never had such luck.
"Tha's not veries nice Mr. I told you my names, but you didn't tell yous." She wasn't the best at speaking, she always seemed to add and 's to almost everything. She frowned at him cutely, though unlikely to break his stoic look. The girl waited on him to answer her before she spoke again. "I just wokes ups. I's not really tired. But I am colds..." she rubbed her arms, looking at him.
Dadj frowned and gave a sigh. "My name is not important." He looked around her to see that Elise was in fact, dead asleep. His eyes twitched a little and he sat forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
"There's a blanket over there, if you would just lay down with your mother."
"There's a blanket over there, if you would just lay down with your mother."
She gave him a sourpuss face when he refused to answer her. "Didn't your mother ever teach yous any manners.." She grumbled a bit, pouting. She wanted to know his name for whatever reason. She gave him a dissatisfied look before she went back to her mother and got under the blankets with her. She however began staring at him, as if she wanted to make him uncomfortable. Weird little girl.
Dadj's expression darkened. "No, apparently she didn't." He rolled his eyes at this annoying kid and wished she would just go away. He had no patience for question, least of all from children.
Finally, she went to her mother to get warm. But she continued to stare at him. "What do you want now?"
Finally, she went to her mother to get warm. But she continued to stare at him. "What do you want now?"
"Your name." She frowned at him. Elise stirred a bit at their talking. She slowly opened her eyes, and sighed, looking around. She looked at Raine for a moment before realizing she had unwrapped herself and was awake. "R-Raine... you're awake.." She then looked at Dadj. "U-Uhm... Sorry." She said softly. She wasn't sure what she was apologizing for, she just was out of habbit
Dadj could be childish himself and now he just didn't want to offer his name because she seemed to want it so badly. Elise woke and apologized for her child without knowing why. That amused the Ranger, because it seemed she was in the habit of apologizing for her child.
"Is this why you're running?"
"Is this why you're running?"
She looked at him and then at her daughter. "That is none of your busine--" Elise was interrupted. "Daddy was trying to hurt mommy! He hurts Riyus! and he wanted to hurts me! But mommy rans with mes! Mommy is brave!" She said almost angrily at him. She hugged Elise tightly and Elise sighed through her nose. "My husband went mad. I do not know why." She said to him. "It was die or run." She frowned at him even more.
Dadj's brows lifted as he listened to what Elise had thought was privileged information. "That was your husband then?" This just confirmed all the Ranger's thoughts on marriage. It wasn't worth the struggle.
Elise looked at him and then down before sighing. "Yes." She said softly. Raine held onto her mother tightly as she looked at Dadj. Elise rubbed her eyes before slowly laying down. "I'll rest a little longer and then we can move to the nearest town. I will need to stock up on supplies and get things for my daughter." She said softly, looking at him,.
The ranger shrugged and sat back against his tree. He was content with resting until morning, should the girl leave him to it. He didn't really sleep, mostly dozed and got lost in thought. When the sun rose, however, his eyes were open and he set about getting ready for travel.
