Lea nodded and laid her head back on his shoulder, yawning slightly at the late time. When did I sleep last? Was it at the priest's house or the stupid child's house? she wondered. She had killed the priest two weeks ago when she was being chased out of the armory she was stealing from, and the boy was killed a couple days later when he had found her snacking on the priest by a farmers house, so naturally she had to kill the whole family.

(Being directly connected to one of the gods, rather than just being a random creature)

Nomti gave her a light squeeze and then let her lay down, "You can rest now. You're safe," he said comfortingly.

Lea nodded and laid her head down on the cool desert sand, her arms and legs around her for warmth, and fell asleep, trusting Nomti.

He smiled down at her and leaned against the palm tree, looking up at the moon.

Lea woke several hours later to the bright desert sun beating down on them. "How long was I asleep?" she asked curiously to nobody in particular as she gently brought herself into a sitting position. Her clothes were torn and there was a pink scar where she was shot on the side.

"A few hours," he said. The sun was still on the rise and for now the sand was still cool.
"Come on, we should get you into the city," he said with a kind smile.

"There's a city nearby? Seems awfully quiet." she said not picking up on any noises. She hated quiet since her escape and her adjustment years ago. "I don't like quiet that much." she said laughing a bit.

"That's because we're at the pyramids. The city is kinda far away," he smirked at her, "The city of Egypt is where we're going. I'm sure you'll be allowed in."

"Ok. How far?" Lea asked anxiously. If it was really far, she could offer him a ride on her back, if not then she would just walk in her almost-human state. She wiped the sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand while waiting for his answer.

"A 4 day sail up the Nile. Come on, I'll take you to the docks. Those are about 30 minutes from here."

I hate boats too. Lea sighed silently and followed Nomti. "So, What are you?" she asked curiously. She assumed he wasn't a mortal. It was obvious that he wasn't but she didn't know exactly what he was.

"I'm an Anubite, a priest of Anubis and guardian of the dead. We Anubites, my brothers and the Anubian Priestesses, are mortal embodiments of Anubis, who is the god of judgement and righteous passage to death," he explained, "Of course, when I say mortal, I mean it as a relative term. I'm 170 or so years old, and that's young by Anubite standards. I'd be about 17 were I human. We age 1 year for every 10."

(My eyes are puzzle pieces!)

"I'm just 18." Lea said laughing. "You already heard my story anyways. No siblings for me, or parents that supported me." she added. "I may be a heartless creature of the moon, but at least I have a heart, unlike the others there are like me. At least a small one." Lea finished, becoming quiet.

"You don't seem heartless to me," Nomti smiled, "I quite like you actually," he blushed a bit as the walked past the large pyrimids that held the dead pharoahs.

Lea smiled and sniffed the air, sensing rotting corpses and death now in the air. She grabbed Nomti's arm for comfort as they continued walking. She hated the smell of rotting corpses when they could have provided her a nice snack when they were freshly dead.

The tombs deep beneath the surface of the earth were well preserved and rigged with all manner of his-awful booby traps.
After the half hour, they finally arrived at the sandstone duck that had been built. A few kebenits sat in rest, waiting for their journey back up river.

"Nice." Lea said looking at the dock and the Kebenits. "So your panning on taking a boat upstream?" She asked curiously, sitting on the hot sand to give her feet a rest. (( Kebenits are the boats right?))

"Yup," he smiled at her and sat next to her until she was ready to go again, "I don't get to go to the city too often. I find these human boats to be pretty interesting. Using wood and packing it so tight that water can't get in... It's ingenious actually."
