Hey! I made this survey for my newbie self published authors sake as I am curious and it will also help me in my journey.
It is a survey to gather information about your experience and impression of self published authors and self published books.
Thank you so much if you do the survey, and have a good day even if you don't
https://forms.gle/YLxsUNxuEKN6rnRR6
edit:
This survey is not about your opinion on whether or not being a self published author is a 'real job' but on your opinion and impression of that job.
Being a self published author is in fact a 'real job'. Self published authors are often vastly underpaid because they rely on individual sales, but it is not any less a job than being an author with a publishing company.

Closing this survey because I'm pretty much exclusively only getting answers telling me being a self published author will/might ruin my life, among other things that is giving me major anxiety.
Thanks to everyone who answered, unfortunately I'm getting less impressions on self published authors and their books and more so people telling me I shouldn't be one; and that's too emotionally draining to read over and over.

If this is your dream, Mercy, know you can make it!
Do your research! I think you should pursue it if this is your dream. I think this is an amazing thing!

THE MARTIAN: ANDY WEIR
After conducting research and becoming fully aware of the market, Andy Weir gave up on his dream of publishing his book traditionally. Rather than attempt to shop the book around to traditional publishers, he instead decided to post chapters of the novel on a blog page. Much to his surprise, the chapters gained a fanbase and people started asking him to publish it as an ebook. He did just that and the book almost immediately became a #1 Amazon bestseller.
That was when Weir caught the attention of traditional publishers and, all within one week, Weir signed dual multi-million dollar book and movie deals with Crown Publishing and Twentieth Century Fox. His book went on to sell over three million copies and the Oscar-nominated movie adaptation grossed $630 million worldwide.
FIFTY SHADES OF GREY: E.L. JAMES
Possibly the most well-known modern self-publishing success story is that of E.L. James and the Fifty Shades of Grey series. She first self-published the series back in 2011 and, though it had mixed critical reviews, it quickly became an international bestseller. Now, the series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and it holds the record for fastest selling paperback.

Thank you that means a lot. It actually is already my career, I started two years ago almost. Have two books in the works. One on it's final draft and one on its 1st draft Plan on punishing my first book in June of next year. It would be sooner but I don't have the money for the isbns yet that I need to publish.
Technically I had a book published once before but the outlet I had it published through closed down and I unfortunately can't publish that book elsewhere.
I've done a lot of research and I'm still researching. Learning new things all the time.
Thanks so much for your support and encouragement. 💕
Your writing is good, Deirdre. I think you could do it (sell books by self-publishing). That's all I wanted to say. 💗
I’m sorry you got so much negative feedback on that! As someone who’s trying to write and possibly publish their work as well, it can be really hard to get that kind of response about the job.
It’s worth the effort though, out of what I’ve heard! I’ve never read any of your work/rped with you, but it sounds like you have a lot of experience and people enjoy your writing! You should go for it, and those books you have in the making will be an amazing read once their published!
