Hey guys, I'm sure everyone here knows about DeviantArt and maybe some of you can relate to this problem I'm having.

DeviantArt is the easiest place for me to find free use page decorations and I strongly prefer uploading my own art there then using BBCode to display it on a character profile rather than use the gallery widget, but since dA's move to Wix and their transition to the Eclipse theme it's basically impossible to do this anymore.

Right-clicking a piece of art on DeviantArt would give me a neat and tidy URL that BBCode could read, now it's an extremely long URL because everything is now hosted on Wix's servers and this link breaks in [img]tags. So I ask you wonderful people: has anyone discovered a workaround? I tried DeviantArt's fav.me links and linking from my sta.sh, neither of which do the trick. I contacted them and I'm waiting for a response but to be honest, considering what their staff is like, I don't expect them to be helpful[/img] and technically this is hotlinking which they probably don't want but shhh
I know I could upload my things to another place but I'm really not keen on doing that, and this is usually out of the question if I wanted to use someone else's images for page decor because most people don't allow reuploading and I'm going to respect that.

So far as I've seen, while the links are ridiculously long, they do work; Right clicking on an image and selecting "Open image in new tab" (or something similar) will give that ridiculously long URL, but it's worked for me so far.

As far as any devart specific work arounds, there are none. I suggest making an album on imgur, making a personal discord server, or a private tumblr blog as alternatives.

don't recommend using DA as a direct image source anymore; this has been an ongoing problem ever since they switched their server host and unfortunately there's no current workaround besides using alternate sites such as imgur. even if you cut off all the excess after the '.png' section of the copied address, you're likely to get a broken image icon or the image will stop hosting after several days. even using sta.sh or the thumb feature doesn't work, and i wouldn't hold my breath on a response from staff - they hardly know anything about the issue unless they're a part of the coder team, and then, that's still questionable. :p

if you're worried about re-uploading, imgur has a private upload option that allows you and only other people with that link to be able to see it. if you're super worried, look for content creators that allow their work to be used off-site as long as credit is given.

TLDR; issue is permanent and has no workarounds except for re-uploading images to imgur or other sites. DA staff is aware of issue but is unable to provide assistance due to it being a server issue and not site-related.

I honestly forgot tumblr existed but that sounds like my best choice since I know how it works, thanks for reminding me!
That's really odd that it works for you though, I've even tried opening it on another tab and using the URL from there so idk. Maybe the particular links I was using had particularly BBCode-unfriendly characters.

I can only dream that dA would make these urls more managable, it's such a shame.
And yes, I've tried the sta.sh link, but I think the thumb feature is only supposed to be used within dA.
