Leith walked through the streets, bobbing his head to his music as he flicked through the songs on his iPod. He paused in front of a sidewalk and pressed the button off to the side. He looked up as he waited for the walked signal and put his iPod away, glancing around as he walked to the other side of the street, his eyes catching a glimpse of bright red hair.

Alec was walking quickly through the town, eager to get her rounds done and return to the Crows. Her headphones had been pushed down to her neck and her hood was up, allowing her to keep her ears up and alert, searching for anything out of the ordinary. She spotted a boy, or young man perhaps, that she'd never seen before. She turned to keep an eye on him, her bangs flitting out of the hood with the movement. She glanced down at Kay by her feet and whispered softly:
"Would you follow him for a bit for me? Make sure he's no trouble?"
The cat nodded and trotted down the sidewalk after the young man, much less visible than Alec. The girl herself started walking again, intent on staying in the area until she was sure that the newcomer was no threat.

Leith kept his eyes forward, looking around the bustling town and being careful to not bump into anyone. His deep grey eyes shifted as something off to the side caught his attention. Once he noticed it was just a cat he continued walking and turned off into a thin alley, walking past a few guys that were smoking and eyeing him carefully. Leith just kept bobbing his head to the music.

Alec stopped when she saw the young man turn into a valley, leaving him to Kay. She would be spotted herself, so this was the perfect job for the cat.

Kay kept following closely into the alley, keeping a sharp eye on the surroundings. He knew that he couldn't keep it up too long without being discovered, but hopefully he would have enough time to determine if the guy was safe to be allowed to roam free. Then he would have to run back to Alec and give her a rapport. He only hoped that she wouldn't take it on by herself if he proved to be trouble.

Leith glanced back and stopped, turning on his heel and looking down at the cat with a smile,"Hey buddy."he took out one of his ear buds and kneeled down,"Following me eh?"he chuckled and reached his hand out, watching the cat closely.

Kay stiffened in surprise as the young man started talking to him. This wasn't good. It was too soon to be discovered. But when the young man didn't make any moves to chase him away he took a cautious step closer and sniffed the outreached hand, taking in the man's scent. He mentally frowned. There was a distinct undertone of violence and danger in the scent meeting his nose. But the man seemed friendly enough, at least dealing with him, so he experimentally buffed the hand softly with his muzzle.

Leith smiled a bit and he gently scratched behind the cat's ears before he stood. He looked up once the two guys that had been smoking just down the alley approached him. One grinned and took a step forward, getting a bit too close for Leith's comfort,"Hey kid, got any money?"he reached for the bag Leith had slung over his shoulder. Leith took a step back,"None for you."he looked between the two of them.

Kay watched the development with big eyes. He knew those guys, and he couldn't believe he hadn't recognized them before. They had picked a fight with members of the Crows on more than one occasion. He felt fairly sure that this man could take care of himself, but Alec would want to know about this. Glancing up briefly at the man he had been following, he then turned towards the street and ran, knowing that the girl he was looking for would be close by.

When Alec saw Kay rush out of the alley, she immediately ran towards him.
"What happened?"
She allowed the cat to catch his breath from the sprint, then he looked her directly in the eyes.
"Thugs. Trying to exhort money. Thought you'd want to know."
Her eyes flared as she heard this. Did those people never learn?
"This guy, can he fight?"
She started walking towards the alley as she spoke.
"I believe so."
At that she nodded and started jogging quietly down the alley. She wanted to see what would happen before she decided to act.

The two thugs laughed and shoved him against the wall, pulling out a small switch blade and pressing it against his cheek,"You wouldn't want us to hurt your pretty little face would you.

"So i'm pretty to you?"he snickered as he riled the thugs up even more,"Listen, I don't want any trouble so scamper on back to your mama's basement."the thugs blinked and growled.
"You little-"he raise his fist and Leith simply grabbed their throats and bashed them against the wall. He put his ear bud back in and walked out the alley, bobbing his head with a big grin,"Idiots..."

Alec had reached the place right before the man turned the tables on the thugs. She had to admit, she really liked his style. She grinned a little to herself before stepping out of the shadows she was hiding in, deciding that she'd done enough sneaking for one day. The hood still hid most of her face anyway.
"Nice work."
In those two words were both a question and a challenge. She was wondering if she had done the right thing showing herself to him, and daring him to make her regret it.

He stopped in front of her and looked a bit annoyed as he once again took out his ear buds. He paused his iPod and stuffed it into his pocket,"Thanks I guess. Hey, why are you sending that cat to follow me?"he looked at her with a smile and amusement in his eyes, shoulders shifting to adjust his bag as it slipped off his shoulder,"Pretty good way of spying on others."he teased.

Her sharp eyes narrowed slightly. This guy was good. Then she let her face relax and shrugged with a smirk.
"You're new in town," she said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "But as long as you don't come looking to run it I don't think we'll have any problems."
Then she glanced down at Kay who had sat himself down at her feet to watch the confrontation.
"And Kay is actually the best spy we have. He's able to get information where we can't. And he can't tell anyone else." At the last line she winked playfully at the cat who just stared blankly at her.
"Obviously."

Leith stretched his arms above his head and yawned a bit,"Run the place? I'm not that sort of guy, don't worry about me. I won't get in your way."he smirked and took a step to the side then walked past her. He looked around the street them smiled as he saw a small cafe,"I could use a coffee."he mumbled to himself and walked over to the crosswalk,"You gonna join me?"he turned his head and gave her a crooked, slightly flirty smiled,"My treat."

Alec looked at him for a moment, judging his intentions. When she couldn't sense any hostility, and furthermore, when Kay started following him without hesitation, she cracked a smile and started to follow.
"Why not. I've been on my feet for too long anyway."
But when she reached the crosswalk she hesitated a moment. She still needed to finish her rounds after all. She looked down at Kay with a sweet smile.
"Kay, since you can't come into the cafe anyway, could you be a sweetheart and finish my rounds for me?"
The cat sniffed in annoyance, but there was a smug undertone in his voice when he answered.
"Sure I could, I wouldn't want to intrude anyway. He is quite handsome is he not?"
Alec felt her face heat up as she hurried to defend herself.
"Don't be silly! Why do you always have to say things like that?"
Kay simply shook himself and turned away from them.
"Whatever you say," was his parting words before starting off in a trot.

Alec turned to face the man again, and could have kicked herself. She must have looked completely crazy just now. In an attempt to smooth it over she smiled at him.
"Now then, coffee was it? I'm Alec by the way."

He watched her curiously as she spoke to the cat. He got the feeling she could actually understand Kay as well. He suddenly held much interest in her and smiled as she spoke to him,"Leith. Nice to meet you."he turned his head as the walk signal came on and he began to walk. He brought his wrist up and looked at the watch around it,"I'll only have time to sit for a coffee. The movers are gonna be at my place soon."he walked up to the cafe with her and looked into the showcase window, looking at the different deserts it was decorated with. He felt his stomach growl and he opened the door for her,"Maybe a little snack as well..."he mumbled.

Alec followed him across the street in silence, but something he said caught her attention.
"Movers? You're moving to town then?"
She held him in her vision as she looked at the various treats in the window. She hated to admit it, but Kay was right, he was quite handsome. When the sound of his rumbling stomach reached her sensitive ears she giggled, before she gracefully walked through the door.
"They do have sandwiches here too if you're hungry at all," she teased as she nodded a greeting to the person behind the counter.

A hand went to his stomach and his other went to the back of his head,"Sweet, i'm starving."he walked in after her and looked around curiously. His eyes closed as he smelled something delicious baking in the kitchen,"Bread..."his mouth watered and he walked over to the cashier, smiling,"Can I get a loaf of bread and A coffee?"he paused and looked back at Alec,"What would you like? Order whatever you want."his smile widened into a grin.

Alec couldn't help but smile at his flirtatious manner. It was obvious enough that a nun would notice, but somehow he saved it from being cheesy. It was more in the way he said things than what he actually said. Of course, the display she had gotten of his skills earlier might be a contributing factor as well.
"Coffee and some strawberry pie," she ordered before glancing around the cafe for a place to sit. She noticed a few people looking strangely at her hood, but she was used to that. What was more interesting was the looks that her companion was getting. She couldn't help a smug smile when she noticed the jealousy in some of their gazes. This could turn out to be fun.

He grabbed his wallet from his bag and happily paid for the food, pulling out his credit card. He typed in his digits then swiped the card. He waited until he was ok'd to put it away. He looked away, not noticing any looks he was getting from the other ladies in the cafe. He looked at Alec,"See anywhere you'd like to sit. The window seat looks nice."the corner of his mouth tilted up a bit in a smile as he looked at her.

She met his eyes with a smile of her own.
"It does, doesn't it," she agreed, making her way towards the table.
"So, you didn't answer my question before, are you moving to town?"
She was honestly curious. If he was going to stay around, then the probability of them running into each other was high. She wasn't sure why she thought that was a good thing, but decided that it didn't matter why.
As she sat down by a window table, she hesitated for a moment. She didn't like to take her hood down around people, in case her ears decided to show, but eating with it up seemed more than a little strange. Coming to a decision, she made sure that her ears were gone, then she lowered it hesitantly. Hopefully she would be fast enough to get it back up if the need arose.
