Alec was on her way back to town, in a better mood than she had been for a while. After all, what was there not to be happy about? It was a beautiful day, her errand had gone perfectly and she was on her way home to her friends in the Crows. She wondered briefly if Kay had behaved himself in Seth's care. She didn't like leaving the cat behind, but he had been having a pretty bad cold when she headed out so she had decided to go solo. It was a pretty easy one after all. She turned her ears this way and that, listening to the birds singing in the trees, and enjoying not having to hide them. Suddenly she froze to the spot. She was sure that she had heard something, but she couldn't make out what it was. She stood still as a statue for a few seconds before she started to breath again and slowly continued walking forward.

After the unknown sound had startled her, Alec had every sense on the alert, but she didn't start to worry until the birds got quiet. That was never a good sign.

Only moments later she was staring in front of her with big, startled eyes. She had never seen a creature like the one in front of her before. It was massive, and the roar that it gave out was not kind on her sensitive hearing. She hurriedly hid her cat ears to lessen the damage done, but barely had time to do so before the creature released some kind of smoke at her. This was not good at all. She could feel herself get sluggish, making it harder and harder to keep her eyes open. Her final thought before completely surrendering to the darkness was: "I hope Seth takes care of Kay when I don't return..."
