Slayers. There are 3 different types, and each one has an extremely useful ability to help out the wielder. There are Dragon Slayers, Pheonix Slayers, and Devil Slayers. You will choose only one and one of the elementals that fit you the most. Their job is similiar to bounty hunters,they get a job and get paid if that job is well done.
Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.
Iron age
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
