"Do you know how many times that almost happened with my cooking?" She said with a chuckle.
He laughed at that thought. "You know how many times I almost did that too by sticking a marshmallow in the oven and forgetting about it?"
Good times, good times.
Good times, good times.
Abby laughed. "My brother did that all the time, his excuse would be "I wanted to see if it would melt then forgot.""
"My reasoning exactly. It just didn't fly too well with the owners of the ovens for some reason."
Abby laughed. "It will never go well with people if you do that."
Kyle just shrugged. "I dunno why. The marshmallows looked hilarious when they were melted completely and on fire."
Abby ruffled his hair. "It messes up their oven which no one will want."
He scrunched his face up in a reflex, shaking his head once she pulled her hand away. "The marshmallow won't hurt it too much- although I suppose the flames will... Hmm."
Abby rolled her eyes with a grin on her face. "How about you try to just melt the marshmallow without setting it on fire?"
"That's the deal, I forget it's in there and by the time I remember it it's on fire. I don't have a good short term memory and I get distracted easily."
"Well, no marshmallows for you unless they go in your mouth and not the oven."
He grinned, taking the snake out of his pocket when he felt it wriggle. "Sorry, didn't mean to leave you in there so long." He let the snake wrap itself around his fingers before looking up again, shifting the backpack on his shoulders.
"Where did you find Freddy? I haven't seen any snakes like him around here." She asked, looking at Freddy.
"Under a brick there in the front yard. He's a garter snake so he's actually supposed to be a pretty common species," he explained as he held Freddy up for her to see better. "He's real docile."
Abby used her index finger to lightly scratched the top of Freddy's head. "He seems like he is nice, there probably more in the woods behind my house."
"I wouldn't doubt it," he agreed, watching Freddy closely. "Where do you live anyways?"
"Not too far from here. It is a one story brick house. You'll probably see my cat on the porch, Yukio."
"You have a cat? Cool. I like animals- I like them better than most people, really. Animals don't bully you for no reason or be mean just for the sake of it. Isn't that right, Freddy?"
The snake simply wriggled in his fingers, his tongue flicking out from time to time to taste the air.

Abby nodded. "Yes, a American black short hair. He is really sweet and affectionate little thing. I think you will like him and he gets along with about an other pet, expect fish."
"That would make sense." He gently tucked Freddy back in his pocket and glanced around. "Lots of trees."
