(between me and Krin Tehrmoss)
There were a lot of elven people gathered in the town square. Many of the children were running around or laughing amongst themselves and the adults watched and laughed with the children. Everyone was happy and talking except one. Kin was standing behind the tree nearby that had grown in the center of the town square, away from the people. Kin was small for her age of 8 and quite shy. She never spoke so the townspeople thought she was mute. She watched the children play from behind the tree, her deep blue eyes showing her inner sadness. Her long, grayish blue hair fell down her back and reached her waist while her elven ears twitched from the sounds. She wore a light blue dress with a flute strapped to it. She shrank behind the tree when one of the adults looked at her, being to shy to wave or smile.

Krin, the Elder and High Priest of the elven tribe, Calimanei, was walking around seeing all of the kinsmen in the village when he spotted a little blue haired elf girl sitting all alone. "Well we can't have that, now can we?" He asked himself as he walked toward her. He looked at her flute as he approached and got the idea to start some music, summoning frogs to sing the chorus. Four green frogs hopped out of the pond behind her. starting low and then higher in note, bumm, bumm, bumm, Bumm, and then all together BUMM. They sang getting her started.
Kin jumped and looked at the frogs, startled. She watched them a little before grabbing her flute and beginning to play along. She blew softly so the sound of her flute was shy and faint. She stayed behind the tree, scared to let the adults see or hear her.
He watched from a distance for a little while and then the small girl. "You play so lovely my dear, why don't you play any louder though?" Krin asked quietly.
Her ears twitched, making Kin look up. Her flute was kept in her hands but she seemed hesitant as she looked at him." Because I......don't want them to hear me." Her voice was small and soft, making her seem even more fragile than before.
"But you sound fine my dear. Why, I wouldn't mind hearing you play more often!" He said with a smile growing large on his face. "Do you know who I am deary?" Krin inquired softly to her.
Kin looked down and shook her head." No. I don't belong in this village." Her ears twitched at the sound of children laughing." I just got here three days ago." She looked up at him.
"Why, you're an elf aren't you?" Krin laughed lightly, "Then you belong in any Elven village, you might not know anyone but you will." He pointed to the children playing over there. "See them over there? Go play with them and have fun, I'll watch over you."
Kin blinked and looked over at the children." But I'm scared to. No one knows me here and I don't want the people my father sent after me to find me." She looked up at Krin with her deep blue eyes. She wanted to stay hidden from her father.
"What men, and what has your father been doing to frighten you so?" Krin asked her softly kneeling downn next to her. He wondered if she'd been abused or beaten. Of which he wouldn't tolerate and make sure that every other Elven Clan knew of his actions.
Kin looked down." He hates me. Blames me for my mother's death." She rubbed her wrist." I ran away because he hit me when I finally spoke against him. I ran away the next night and he sent people after me to get me."
He smiled a big smile at her and put his hand on her head. "Don't you worry about your father little one. I'll watch over you, if you'd like to stay here that is." Krin inquired her about staying with him and letting him raise her as a daughter. "You'll never have to worry about your father or his men again."
Kin blinked and looked up at him." Really? You'd really help me?" Tears began to fill her eyes. No one ever helped her and she was very grateful for him being so kind.
"Oh no my deary, no don't cry. Yes of coarse I will help you, don't worry." His had changed from worry and concern back to a smile, and then he looked down at her flute, "How about you let me hold on to that while you go play with the other children?" He asked while pointing to her flute.
Kin wiped her tears and looked at the children." I'm to shy to." She looked down at her flute before tying it to her waist." I never played with other children before." She looked up at him. She was shy as well as scared.
"Ok. You don't have to be afraid, but i guess that can wait. For now, how would you like to see if you want to stay in my home?" He put his hand down for her to grab as he stood and went towards his house. He opened the door and gently pushed her in. "Take a look and if you'd like to stay here you may choose any room that you want."
Kin hesitated before walking around inside the house. She looked in all the rooms and explored a little bit, trying to figure out where everything was. She seemed a bit more relaxed when she walked back to Krin." I'm not picky about where to sleep."
"Alright, how bout this room?" He led her to room right next to his. "Do you like this room?"
Kin looked inside the room." This is fine. Thank you soo much for taking me in, Mr.Krin." She smiled up at him.
He started setting up a bed and night stand. "We'll have to get you some clothes and furnishings to put in here, don't you agree? I apologize little one, I don't have much to put in here now, but you will have things later I promise." He told her with a great smile on his face.
