Kai: “...” as the sun slowly climbed higher and higher into the sky, he made his way to a shady looking tree and sat down, closing his umbrella with a sigh.

Adi was hanging in the tree looking like a bat.

Kai: He didn’t notice her, reaching into his pocket and taking out the rune again. “...You...” he whispered in his usual ominously quiet voice.

Adi opened her eyes and saw him.”What you doing by my tree?”

Kai: He looked up at her, unphased. “Show me the title deeds, muavehead.” He said.

“I claimed this tree when I was here on time unlike you.” She said.

Kai: “If you buy a house, but on the way over there a squatter moves in, does that squatter own the house?” He said.

“No.” Adi said.

Kai: “So, just because I showed up late because I received a letter from a school HALFWAY ACROSS THE WORLD, doesn’t mean you get to bar me from the shade that I just so happen to need to survive.” He said, putting the rune back in his pocket.

“Why? You some sort of vampire?” Adi asked.

Kai: “Yeah, ‘some sort.’ What about you? You don’t have any particularly odd features. At least, recognisable ones.” He said.
