He noticed her put something away, but didn’t see what it was. “Hey, What was that?”
“Nothing.” She lied. It was part of her life. She wrote sad or scary poems in the book. Even the reason she’s mean to people.
“Right, right. You can just say you don’t want to tell me. We’ve barely met, and I just threw a knife at you. It’s justified.” He said.
“Yeah, theoretically. But in the span of the universe, I’ve probably been friends with billions of people. Does that mean I’m going to be nice to everyone? Hell no.” He replied.
He shook his head. “Mentally, we’ve probably met a million times. Physically, we are complete strangers. If you see someone you kinda maybe think you might have seen that one time, you aren’t gonna tell them you’re life story.”
Adi nodded.”I know. I’m not dumb like most of the people around here. And that thing is something private no one knows about.” She said.
“Alright, fair enough. Everyone has secrets.” He replied.
He rolled his eyes. “What does everyone mean to you?” He jeered.
“What do you mean by ‘What about you’?”
“Alright, that’s what I thought you meant. I said everyone has secrets, and you asked if I had any, so I asked what everyone means to you.”
Adi blinked.”Um.. ok.” She said.”I really prefer that people die but can’t get your way right?”
He groaned. “That’s not- I don’t mean EVERYONE, I mean the WORD everyone. It was a witty remark about how I, as a living being, am part of ‘everyone’, thus if everyone has secrets, I must also have secrets, thus making your question useless. I just- jokes aren’t funny if you explain them.”
Adi shrugged.”I had it before. I just didn’t think that was very funny. Mean people are bad at joking.” She said.
“...sure didn’t seem like you got it.” He shrugged.
