Comment on your rp search thread with things like
"look at my character and pm me if you're interested"
if I'm putting out a search thread, isn't it the commentator's job to message me? Why do I have to do the work when I've already put my effort into making the thread and saying what I want?
I will without fault ignore people who do this. 100% of the time lol

A lot of the time people don’t want to put forth the effort of messaging someone, suggesting a plot, offering up characters unless they know the other person feels like their character/writing styles will be compatible.
I’ve been ignored on forum posts and in messages, no matter which way I approached.
If you put specific instructions like “Message me” then it’s a bit different, though.

Yes... this! I feel your pain. I see that a lot and I smack my head. An articulate LFRP post with instructions to PM me if interested followed by any number of comments saying they are interested and wanting the thread author to message them. I mean, it would be little extra effort to send what you are going to publicly post in a PM... maybe one or two clicks more.
If I see something I like, I read the whole thing and usually take a look at the writer account and their characters before deciding to message them or not. It is common courtesy.
But then I don't think I ever put an LFRP thread up. Ive managed to fine more than enough good RP answering other's threads, or by other unconventional means.
Yeah, I find that incredibly annoying too, I don't respond to those messages, because it seems awfully lazy.
Don't get me wrong, these types of people want to find partners who like their characters and hope they have someone who'd match with them pretty quickly, which is absolutely fine. This technique might work for them. There are request threads with simple posts where they briefly state what pairings and settings they're interested in, which I think works the best for the people who post "Check out my character" post. Its like quick and easy matchmaking.
But those people should also show a bit respect to the OP who makes a big request thread. It happened a couple of times to me, I will write a long, descriptive text of what types of partners I'm looking for, what I offer, what I don't want. And then someone just is like "Hi, check out my character!" and when I do check their partner out, its completely opposite of what I mentioned in my thread
Again, I'm not shaming these people, it just used to throw me off. They should at least read the thread before posting anything.
But look at it positively - they bumped your thread
