Josh waved a hand like it was nothing. "I may have a limp but I know his weaknesses. I can beat him up right back. It's going fine, what say you?" He turned back to Corinth for confirmation.
"Huh?" Corinth looked up from his book that he was reading, and stared. Then he shook his head. "Oh, horrible. I hate him. He's horrible. I.." He started laughing, and Jacob recognized his sarcasm, and started laughing again.
"Two wrongs don't make a right. Unless Its English and math," Jacob chuckled. Hell, it was right and weird.

Josh shook his head, unable to hide his grin as he ran a hand through his thick black hair. "Yeah, I love you guys too. But seriously, how am I doing? You're getting me paranoid about it now."
"Ooohhhhh you are doing fine! Coor light over here is messing with ya! I think... Naw, but he is," Jacob laughed, and put his aviators down to his nose, and looked over at Corinth, who burst into laughter. Jacob shook his head, his hair flying all over the place, then he walked back to check on Randall.
"So weird," was all Josh replied, raising an eyebrow as he absentmindedly rubbed his leg.
Randall had been keeping track mentally of how many cans he had shot; right now he was at 93 and was busy hunting down the last 7 that were hiding somewhere in this vast foresty place.

"Boo," Jacob said, and jumped up from behind a bush of barbed wire, not even cutting himself. He guessed that he scared the crap out of Randall, but he couldn't be too sure. "So, whatcha down to now?"
Randall whirled on him, his rifle up and pointed at Jacob's head. Then recognition crossed his face and he lowered the gun, looking pissed.
"Dammit, Jacob, don't sneak up on me like that," he snarled, shaking his head. "I'm down to 7, trying to find the last ones now."

Jacob knocked the gun to the side before it could point to him, and he laughed, ducking down, and jumped up. "Hey, good job. Keep it up. How many shots have you fired?"
He paused a moment, rocking on his heels. "About a hundred...? Give or take. There have been a couple of times I've missed but I get it on the second or third try, so it's not too bad."
"Good, good. Sooner or later you will be down to one bullet a piece," Jacob said, rocking back and forth on his feat, too.
He nodded and slung the rifle back across his shoulder, pausing a moment uncertainly.
"Don't sneak up on me like that, Jacob. I'm not kidding about that. Don't like being snuck up on... Happened a couple of times before and it never turned out well."

"Randall, as much as you'd like to believe you can hurt me, sadly, you can't. Not too many people can. But I swear I won't do that," Jacob took out God's Warrior, aimed, and fired, hitting all seven cans with one bullet each.
"I know I can't hurt you. It'd take a miracle, which is something I'm a little short on right now. I'm saying it never ended well for me." He sighed, shaking his head. "How's Josh?"
"More than a miracle, son. More than a miracle. Josh is doing fine. More than fine, actually. He's a damn natural," Jacob was smiling when he said that. True, Josh was awesome at what he did. But so was Randall.
Randall smiled slightly, scratching his neck as he studied the ground below him. "I'm not surprised. He's always caught on to this kinda thing quickly... I remember when he'd just start reading to me from his survival manual, trying to explain to me how to properly apply a field bandage. He's a good kid..."
"Randall, you two are great kids. You just have different talents. You break things, he fixes it. Good cop, bad cop. You protect him, and he helps you out. See how it is?" Jacob patted the kid on the back.
He nodded, glancing up at Jacob with a slight smile on his face.
"You know, Jacob, you're one of the few people in this world that I actually like, pessimistic as it sounds."
"You know, Jacob, you're one of the few people in this world that I actually like, pessimistic as it sounds."
"Now it sounds more optimistic than anything. Thanks for that, Randall. Hey, you've done enough for the day. You two want something to eat?" Jacob said, beckoning for both of the boys to come over.
"Sounds good." He patted Josh's shoulder as he came over, looking his brother over.
"Food is good," Josh commented absentmindedly, blinking a moment before realizing fully what they were talking about. "Yeah, that."
"You're a spaz, Josh."
"Yeah, I know."

"Good. I got a surprise. When was the last time you two had a burger?" Jacob said, walking inside. Corinth didn't want to come because he was tired, and he was going to go sleep. It was a long day, after all. But maybe there was something going on with Josh... He didn't know what, but he guessed.
