"Oh, true. You're right." She nodded, rubbing her arms, suddenly feeling cold again. "It's okay, I'll go with you." He was just asking her because she was his friend, right? It was understandable, and besides, that way, she wouldn't be interfering with Amy and her boyfriend. It was just that. No need to exaggerate. "Until tomorrow then." Faye smiled a little so he wouldn't be able to tell something was wrong.

Max wasn't fooled. "Are you okay?" He took her hands as she rubbed at her arms. He looked at her for a few long moments, then glanced over to where her parents had disappeared to. Once the coast was clear, he leaned in and kissed her cheek. "Tell your folks I said bye and that I hope they like the pie. See you tomorrow, Faye." He let go of her hands and went out to his car.

Faye wasn't very surprised when he asked her if she was okay. She had never been a good liar, so she didn't answer. Not a word until he took her hands and was about to say something when he leaned in. Even though he was a vampire the kiss he placed on her cheek felt pretty warm. "Bye." She said smiling and gave a little wave.

Max left in a slight hurry, since her father may have still seen that, and if he did, then the boy was probably in trouble. He was also trying to convince himself to back down. This wasn't a smart idea. He'd told Amy that as well, but she still went on with it! Being with a vampire was never a smart idea. But he loved having her around. She brought some excitement and fun into his life. And after being around for so long, well...that wasn't so easy. As a matter of fact, Amy wasn't even his real cousin. She was more like his niece or great-niece, but it wouldn't do to let their secret out. Besides, they were close in apparent age, so cousins was more appropriate to their relationship as well.

The next morning, Max was late to school. He got in for second period, just sliding into his chair casually. Naturally, the teacher scolded him. But since he always aced his tests, she couldn't do much more.

In this class, the three of them were there. Amy sat behind Max while Faye was on his right. The latter hadn't noticed he'd arrived because she was trying to explain the last class to a friend. Amy poked Max's back with a pen. "So... how did yesterday go? You look happy, and you rarely do."

Max glanced over at Amy and rolled his eyes. "Shh. Class is going. Yesterday was fine." He wouldn't tell Amy more than that, no way. At least, not during class! He turned back to the teacher, though his attention was caught by Faye. He couldn't help but just look at her for a few moments, before looking away and focusing on class.

Amy sighed, giving up, for now. "Fine, Faye will continue telling me all about it later then." She stuck out her tongue at his back, but inside, she was just happy things were going smoothly. The friend Faye had been helping, went back to his seat when he'd understood, at least for the most part. She was kinda bored now, trying to focus on the class too, but she kept going back to the thought that Max hadn't come to school.

Max waited until class was over, then he snuck up behind her and touched her shoulder. "Hey. Your parents didn't grill you on me last night, did they? What about the pie, what'd they think?" He smiled a bit, helping her with her books.

"Gods!" Her heart skipped a beat and she lifted her hands to her temples, rubbing them. "Why do you have to do that?" Faye was actually talking to a wall because she didn't know where he was exactly. "No, dad forgot about it, and mom, well, she's cool with...everything. They loved the pie."

Max moved her a little to face him. "Because it's what I am." he murred quietly, smirking. He liked sneaking, he couldn't help it. "Really? That's great. Do you need any help with homework, Faye? We could get together again tonight and go over some things." He took her hand and walked along with her, her books in his other arm.

Faye just smiled and nodded at his offer. "I'd like that. I do need some help, mainly to study for the finals." This time, she didn't even registered when he took her hand, not until a few moments when she could hear some hushed whispers. "I'll tell Amy to drop me at your house after we get back from the mall, okay?"

Max smiled a bit. "Sounds like a good idea." He walked along with her, ignoring the whispers that he could hear rather well. He got her to her seat and gave her her books. "Have fun at class." He ruffled her hair playfully, then went on to his own class. Let them talk, he didn't care. He was used to rumors, rather used to it indeed.

Faye blushed when he ruffled her hair. "You too." She took a deep breath and smiled to herself. The class passed in a blurr, now that she was in a extremely good mood. She found her way to her locker to wait for Amy, who was running a little late.

Max spotted her waiting alone on his way home, and he frowned. "Hey, where's Amy at?" He walked over and stood beside her. "That girl is never on time.." he grumbled. He looked at her. "How were classes?" He glanced around idly, calmly.

Faye turned towards his voice and found his arm, patting it. "She must be doing something important. I'm sure she'll be here in a few minutes." Her backpack was slung over one of her shoulders so she adjusted it to be more confortable. "Classes were... meh as always. But I did enjoy astronomy!"

Max smiled. "You like astronomy, huh?" He looked around, frowning. Knowing Amy, she was probably trying to set someone else up. He slid an arm around her gently, tugging her slightly closer to him. Perhaps he was a tad possessive, because if Amy was trying to set anyone up, she better be leaving Faye alone.

Faye nodded and instinctively rested her head on his shoulder. With them like that, and her not seeing anything, if she tuned out the other sounds of other people around, it felt as if they were the only ones there. "Hey! Sorry!" Amy's voice snapped her out of it. "The bathroom door got stuck and I- Oh." She stopped mid-sentence and smiled.

Max looked down at her for a few long moments as her head settled on his shoulder. He watched her, drawn in by her innocence, her kindness, her...well, her-ness. She was so very unique. And then suddenly Amy's voice snapped him out of the momentary peace. He gently pulled away. " 'bout time, Amy. Lame date you are, showing up late and all." He stuck his tongue out at her. "You girls have fun, alright? Just don't get her into trouble, Amy." He chuckled, then turned to Faye. "Bye, Faye. I'll see you later." He waved to Amy, then left.

Amy smacked his arm playfully and both her and Faye waved him goodbye. Faye was a little sad he had to go, but brightened up. She'd spend the afternoon with her best friend. Yeah, it had its downsides but then, everything did. Amy and her got into her car and drove to the local mall. Store after store, they talked about everything they could think of as they checked the dresses, even trying on the ones they'd never wear to the prom. Finally, around seven, they found the perfect ones.

"What are you going to do once the curse is broken, Faye?" Amy asked her on the way to Max's house. She was genuinely curious. Faye didn't think twice about it. "Move to the south. I want to go to a really sunny place. I don't know... maybe Florida." She smiled. "I've spent enough years not knowing how does the sky looks like during the day." Amy's own smile faltered, because she knew Max would never follow her there. So much for her plan.

Max was at the front door as they pulled up. Well, he was around the front door, knees on the ground, digging in the flowerbed. His shirt was off, and he was doing a bit of manual labor, pulling weeds, digging holes and planting new flowers. When the car pulled up, he looked up. "Oh, hey you guys. How was shopping?"
