He was heavy but they managed to get him onto the couch. Her mom went upstairs for a moment to get her dad and see what they could do. Faye's gaze darted to the stairs, but it was clear. "I'll call Amy, okay? If she can't get them, I'll go myself." She searched for a phone, and dialed her best friend's number, without taking her eyes off him.

Max gave a quiet nod, trying to keep the pain at bay. This wasn't good. His vampire half was kicking into overdrive to ward off the silver-infected wounds. "Hurry." he grunted through clenched teeth. Teeth that were getting pointer and sharper by the minute, so he soon hid them behind his lips again. Silver was like a poison to vampires, and even though Max was a mixed breed, so many cuts of silver would get him pretty badly.

Faye's parents came down then. Her father just took a look at him, realizing it was pretty serious, and then followed her mother into the kitchen to help her prepare some kind of potion. After hanging up, Faye started to pace around. "Mom is a demigod, she can make potions for almost anything in a hearbeat. They often end in explosions, but she can make one for the pain until Amy gets here with the blood."

Max sighed through his nose. "I was...hoping to...keep it secret a little longer..." He closed his eyes tightly. So, mom's a demigod. Great. Probably not so fond of vampires then. He just tried to focus on taking deep, even breaths and trying to stay away from the pain. He didn't even have the energy to apologize to her for the trouble.

Faye shook her head and sat down next to him, not realizing his need for blood wasn't only because of the wounds. "They won't kick you out. Don't worry." She fidgeted with her hands nervously. If she'd just known... Now her friend was going through this. "Hurry up Amy..." She whispered.

Max turned his head away. "Move. Sit somewhere else." The tone may have been a bit harsh, but he was in major pain. And the closer a blood source was to him, the more tempting it got. He really, really didn't want to crack and feed from her. For one, her dad would probably kill him in moments. But most importantly, he didn't want to do that to Faye. "Damn Amy...step on it..." She had come to his rescue before. Things like this had happened once in a while.

Faye flinched at his words but just nodded. "Okay." She got up, trying to hide whatever shocked expression she had. "Umm I'll be right back, just hold on." She opened the front door and walked outside to see if Amy was anywhere near. She checked her watch. It'd been a few minutes. She would be there anytime soon.

Max felt bad about having to move her away, but he didn't want the temptation. He just tried to focus. But soon enough he found himself starting to black out. No. No. He couldn't black out. When that happened, bad things would come. He was most vulnerable to his impulses when he was weak enough to black out. He couldn't do it, not here. He desperately hoped Amy got there soon. (Going to bed, just so you know I'll respond to the next post tomorrow!)

Faye finally saw a car coming down the street. Amy pulled up behind Max's car and practically jumped out of the car, muttering the entire time. "This kid will never learn! How many times I've told him to always carry at least a freaking flask!" Faye took her hand and dragged her inside. "She's here."

Max opened his eyes. Deep, swirling red eyes that seemed to just ask for trouble. Hands reached for Amy, fingers that were certainly longer and more claw-like than they had been before. Amy knew it was getting bad, and one look at his wounds would show the burning edges with silver poison, so she would immediately know the risks.

"Ah, this is just great!" Amy complained when she saw Max. "You bite me and you forget about date tips." She approached, carefully but quickly, bottle in hand extended towards him. "Take it now." Faye was just behind her, looking over her shoulder.

Max snagged the bottle and downed it quickly, then fell back onto the couch and closed his eyes tightly. He stayed very still, holding the bottle in hand. It wasn't enough. No, it had to be enough. It had to be. He wouldn't fall to the desire for more. He took in deep, careful breaths. Slowly, he seemed to be...more himself. His fingers gained their natural shape...even his face seemed softer and more Max-like now. He opened his eyes, which were back to their normal tone. The wounds started to heal up a little. Not much, but it didn't look so burnt now. "..better."

Amy nodded and snatched the bottle. "Good. I brought another one just in case. Those still don't look very good." She handed him another bottle. "Let me know if there's something I can do." Faye said and headed to the kitchen.

Max sat up, and took the bottle, slower this time. "Thank you." He sipped from the bottle, watching as Faye left the room. He groaned quietly. "Blew it, Amy." he murmured softly to her. "First a Mongrel tries to attack, then I almost go vamp because someone laced the Mongrel's damn claws with silver. More like dipped the whole thing in silver, rather than laced. Sheesh." He finished the bottle. "Thanks. I was dangerously close to going vamp there." He was obviously not happy about this.

Amy shrugged. "Bad luck?" She patted his cheek. "If you had gone vamp, it'd have been hell here and I'd have lost two friends." Then she looked back over her shoulder briefly. "And c'mon, this is not your fault. It was just a very bad-time accident." In the kitchen, Faye was explaining her parents Max was a bit not human, trying not unsettle them too much, and that Amy had brought him 'medicine'.

Max sighed. "I know, it would have been hell. Her parents probably would have killed me quick." He rubbed his face. "Maybe. But it's not an accident that a Mongrel had silver claws." He was not happy about that. It bothered him quite a bit. "...I'll figure it out later." He looked towards the kitchen, where Faye had gone. "..this complicates things.."

Amy opened her mouth to say something but closed it when she heard footsteps approaching. Faye and her parents came out from the kitchen. Their expressions were a mix of concern for him, and at the same time, for their daughter. She refused to tell them what exactly Max was. "Are you feeling better now, Max?" Her mom asked him. She knew he must be a good boy, but she thought Faye had enough danger in her life because of her heritage.

Max nodded slightly. "Yes, ma'am, sorry for all the fuss. I think I had my equivalent of...food poisoning, in a way. Didn't know it until it hit hard, and all. Sorry for all the trouble, I just wanted to drop Faye off." He stood up and stretched carefully. He could read the concern of her parents easily. His eyes glanced at Faye. "I'll see you at school tomorrow, alright?" He gave a slight nod to the parents. "Thanks for your concern. Have a good night." And then he left the house to get in his car and drive home. He was pretty sure that things were over. Her parents didn't even know what he was, but surely they were worried. And, like most parents would, they would probably get their daughter out of trouble before the trouble happened.

Faye nodded at him and her mom patted her shoulder when he left. "We're just worried." She sighed and walked away. "Sure." Faye muttered. "Amy, thanks for coming. I don't know what I'd have done without you." Amy waved her hand. "No problem, just... nevermind. I'll tell you tomorrow."

Max did not come to school tomorrow until third period. He met up with Faye at her locker, offering to carry her books like usual to the next class. "...so uh...going out with Amy again today?" He was quieter this time. He wasn't...as energetic and charming as usual. "How'd you do in math class today?" Maybe that was a better topic. They had been studying it last night, after all. Before all the chaos.
