Max stared at her for a long few moments. Then he stood up and nodded, putting his hands in his pockets. "..so be it." He gestured to her. "Follow me." He went to a door and unlocked it with a key from his pocket, then walked down the stairs. It seemed that there was a cellar that he was going into. He turned on the light, showing rows of shelves. Shelves with various little knick-knacks on them. "These are from my victims." He walked over and picked up a teddybear. "I always kept something to remind myself of what I'd done; of why I had to go to animal blood." He set the teddybear down. There was a hairbrush, a worn picture of a happy family, a pocketwatch, a love note...many personal little things on those shelves. None of them his. All of them from people he had killed. "And then there's the harpies. Killed them. The entire group. They won't be bothering you or your family again, trust me."
He didn't stand near her. He stood a bit away, and stared at the shelves. "This one is the one that means the most to me." He walked over to the shelf and picked something off of the dusty surface; a ring. A wedding ring. "This was my fiance's."

(The feels!)
Faye did as he said and followed him silently down the hidden stairs and into the cellar. A shiver ran up her spine as she saw the shelves of various objects that were certainly not his. And... the explanation came. She didn't like it. Not at all. She walked around, looking at every object he showed her, wondering about the person who those had belonged to, stopping completely in a freezed position when he mentioned a fiance. "You killed her." She stated simply with a dead voice. Faye wasn't made of rock, she truly felt sad for all those people, for his fiance, for him. "May I see the ring?" She held out her hand.

Max was quiet for a few long moments. "...I thought I could handle it. Control myself. I was still so new in transitioning into animal blood, I didn't realize..." He shut his eyes tightly, and held out the ring to her without even looking. He couldn't look. It hurt. It was the one that hurt the most. The ring was beautiful, with lovely diamonds set into the band. "I'm not a miracle, Faye. Don't be so disillusioned. I'm a vampire. I may have good traits, but that doesn't make up for all the blood I've spilled. I could fill up this entire cellar with the blood I've spilled."
"It was an accident." Faye held the ring in her hand, admiring it, thinking about how much he must have loved that girl enough to ask her to marry him. She smiled. It was bittersweet. While she was glad he was with her now, she also felt that his should be with that girl, the one he had wanted to spend his life with and be happy. A happy Max, that's what she wanted. With an almost reverent look, she placed it back on the shelf. "I never thought you had never... you had never done something like this, killing people. I knew it must've happened some time when you told me you were a vampire. "
Max looked at her. "I knew what I was doing, Faye. When I go like that, I know what's happening. I know everything that's going on. But I can't stop it." He walked over to her. "Watch your dad die by your own hands and then tell me it was an accident, Faye. I know you're just trying to help, but it's not that easy. It's been years. Years. Nothing changes the fact that I killed all of these people." He took her hand and led her back upstairs. He was done talking about this. She learned what she wanted to know, he wasn't going to say anything else. It brought too many emotions.
Faye sighed but didn't protest when he took her hand to return upstairs. Even if she had wanted to say something else, she could do so away from the creepy cellar. "I'm sorry for ruining our day, but I had to ask." She let go of his hand and went to get her backpack. "And I'm sorry for making you remember all that. I think it's time for me to go." She shouldered her backpack. "I'll walk, so... see you tomorrow."
Max shook his head slightly. "It didn't ruin the day, Faye. And it had to come up sooner or later, so..." He shrugged. When she spoke of walking, he frowned. "Absolutely not. I'm driving you back to your house." Leaving no chance for objection, he got his keys and walked her to the car. He drove her back to the house. "..goodnight, Faye. Take care." He watched her carefully.
"But -" Faye rolled her eyes at him, following him to the car. "You're so stubborn!" She got in and buckled up, crossing her arms over her chest. After a few minutes, she began humming along with the song that was playing on the radio. She wished she could say the words 'I understand', but she couldn't, because she'd never gone through what he had. When he pulled up in front of her house, her hand reached for the door handle, but then she thought better of it and leaned across the seat to kiss his cheek before leaving. "Good night."
Max smiled slightly as he was kissed on the cheek. "Sleep well, Faye." He watched her until she was safely inside, then went home. Well, at least she didn't hate his guts so far. At least she wasn't scared of him. Much. Hopefully. That was the worst thing, to have Faye scared of him. But sometimes....well, sometimes he was even scared of himself.
(Hmmm... What if there was a situation in which Faye got injured (really injured) and Max would be forced to get past his thirst? It'd have to be something important... Maybe to introduce the bad guy? )
"That went well." Faye sighed. "I really hope he doesn't hate me now." She rubbed her temples and then went to the kitchen to eat something. She was starving.
Next day at school, morning was busy. People wanted to know how had she gone from being blind to being able to see again. The story her parents and her had agreed to tell was that she had gone through a surgery. They seemed to buy it so everything was okay.

(ooooo that would be awesome!)
Max was at school tomorrow, and he spent as much time as he could with Faye before classes. He backed up her lie about surgery, explaining that that had been why he'd been so nervous lately. He stayed by Faye, walked her to classes, and bid her goodbye with a kiss on her forehead. "Have a great class. Enjoy your first class with sight!"

(Yay! After classes then? It could be a car accident, or something more creative I can't think of now )
It felt weird not needing to hold Max's hand for help anymore, but it was even better now that she did so because it felt good. She was relieved that the conversation from the day before didn't seem to affect him today. She smiled at him, determined to prove him that what he'd showed her didn't change her feelings at all. "Okay! See you later!" She gave him a hug before going to class.

(I just had some more ideas: A fire at school, her getting shot in the parking lot(a little unlikely) or her encountering another vampire who is quite thirsty. What do you think?)
(Sorry! I never saw this post! I think the other vampire thing would be really interesting. >3> Faye would get to see the 'monster' side of Max that he keeps insisting is there.)
(No worries. And alrighty, crazy thirsty vampire it is. That's exactly what I thought because then she'd REALLY understand what Max meant )
Max smiled and hugged her back. He was glad to see her so happy. He went to his own class, though throughout the day there was a strange feeling that he certainly didn't like. Unable to put his finger on it, he simply ignored it for the time being and just focused on his schoolwork. For once.
She wasn't able to talk with Max at lunch. Amy apointed herself as her official school guide. They walked around the whole place, starting with the pool, and then the theater and the library. It was awesome for her to at last actually see this place she went to everyday. When the last bell of the day rang, she searched for Max and when she found him with his back to her, covered his eyes with her hands.
Max smiled as his eyes were suddenly covered. He knew who it was. For one, with his heightened senses she could smell her. "Hey! Who turned out the lights?" He chuckled and turned around carefully, wrapping his arms around her. "Hey. How'd your first day at school go?" He gave her a gentle hug, then let her go and smiled at Amy. "Hey, Amy. Things going well?"
Faye huffed. He had figured it out in a matter of seconds. "At least I tried." She smiled, hugging him back. "It went amazing. I think now I'm one of the few that is actually awake and looking at the board as the teachers give their class." She turned to Amy, who was examining her nails. She bit them very often. Amy nodded at Max with a smile. "Everything's alright. Hey, do you mind if you drive me home today? My car chose today to break down and I really don't want to take the bus like in the morning. Pleaseeee?" Faye took a look at her watch -She had a watch!- and sighed. "I have to go. My uncle was around today and I'm supposed to meet him in a few minutes."
Max smiled. "Sure, I can give you a ride, Amy." He nodded at Faye and hugged her close. "Alright. Text me when you want to spend some time together. We can always do homework." He kissed her forehead and let her go. "Have a great day, Faye." He gestured for Amy to follow him out to his car.
