Max was quiet for a while. "I wouldn't take it back, you know. Not one moment. I don't regret any of it. I would stay, Faye, but...like I said. I can't avoid persecution when I look like I belong in highschool for eight years. Bad things happen when people notice."
"I said it was alright!" Faye was now really crying. She just wanted it to be over as soon as possible. Him gone and she finally able to get over it. "Just go. You don't owe me anything." She suddenly stood up and wiped her cheeks again, heading for the door. This was Amy's house and he was family to her, so it wasn't okay for her to kick him out, but then she had to leave. "I guess you won't go to school tomorrow, so bye."
Max was very quiet. He said nothing. Not even a goodbye. Instead, he stood. "You need to finish supoer. I have things to take care of." He stopped at the door. "...goodbye, Faye." He left. But he didn't go home. He went to Faye's house. He knocked upon the door. Maybe he was insane, but he had to talk to her parents.
Faye just ran upstairs to Amy's room. The girl had been sheltered her whole life from things like bullying, drugs, alcohol, and yes, heartbreak too. It was very difficult for her to one second see that everything's perfect and the next Max is leaving. Amy poked her head out of the kitchen and put the food on the table, but she doubted Faye was still hungry.
It was Faye's mother who opened the door. The usual kind smile that she gave Max everytime she saw him was gone. "Hi. Faye's not here Max."

Max looked at her and nodded. "I know. I came to talk to you two. May I come in? If you prefer to just call your husband over, that works too. I just need to speak with you both." He was nervous. It could go two ways. One way, they would be happy. The other way, Faye and Max would both be miserable for years. Hopefully she would get over it sooner than he would.
"Sure, come in. It's okay, Sev is reading a book." She opened the door wider for him to come in. She wanted to be mad at him for not only breaking his promise, but hurting Faye these days too, but the anger had turned just into weariness. "Sev, don't kill him, alright? He wants to talk with us." Her husband looked ready to sprang from his seat when he saw Max but stopped. "I'm sure we'll love to hear what he has to say."
Max stepped inside. "Thank you, ma'am." He walked into the room and watched Sev carefully. "Trust me, you'll have a lot to say about it, sir." He took in a deep breath and let it out. "I won't explain my absence unless you ask it of me. But right now I want to talk to you about something very important." He paused. "I'm sure you know that, as a vampire, I can't stay in one place for long. People get suspicious. They notice I'm not changing like I should. And after the attack from the other vampire, I'm certain rumors are going to start sprouting up no matter how much we try to keep it under wraps." He sighed. "I've been considering leaving. I am yet unsure as to whether I want to stay until graduation or not. It depends on your answer to my question." Well, he was going to ask it as a question. He was going to state what he wanted and let them react.
"I want to take Faye with me."
He paused, letting it sink in for a moment. "Ideally, I will stay until graduation. After graduation, I want to take Faye with me and go see the world. All the sights that she never got to see. All the places she's always wanted to go but never had the chance. That's what I would like to do." He looked away. "If that is something I cannot do, however, then I will leave immediately so that Faye can get back to a normal life as quickly as possible..."

The two froze. The didn't know what they'd been expecting but it was definetely not this. Faye was still their baby girl in their eyes. It was so hard to see her struggling with so much things, and know Max was asking for them to let her go. Faye's dad frowned. It was a surprise Max knew about that dream of Faye's. On the other side, her mother's expression softened. It was very thoughtful he wanted to make something nice for her. In the end, it was Faye's father who spoke.
"She... She's almost an adult now. It's up to her." As much as he wanted to strangle Max, he was not blind. He knew Faye's blue mood was because of the boy's disappearance. There were of course, a LOT of rules that'd have to be settleed, but above all, he just wanted his daughter to be happy. Once, he'd told his wife that if their daughter fell in love on day, they'd always support her. He hadn't known how difficult it would be to keep that promise.

Max wasn't sure which was better; her parents deciding or her deciding. "...alright." He nodded slightly. "I just...wanted to get your approval or at least give you the knowledge of what I hope to do." He paused for a moment, then looked at both of them again. "Sir, ma'am. I may look young but I have a lot more years on me. I just want to assure you that Faye isn't someone to just waste time with. I'm still...struggling, with how to work it out. But I just want to reassure you that I intend to stick with her, as long as she will have me for." He nodded his head slightly. "Thank you for listening to me. I apologize for the trouble I've caused."
"I think we figured that out on our own. There are very few guys now that would do what you're doing." Faye's mother said. She got up and went to the kitchen quickly to bring Max some home made cookies. "I'm not very happy with what's happened but... from the little I know, I want to thank you for saving her." She didn't know Max had already talked to Faye. "Faye's at Amy's. They were going to have a sleepover."
Max chuckled slightly. "..I'm glad." When she thanked him for saving her, he looked at the woman for a few moments. "...I'm sorry." He looked away, clenching his hands into fists. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect her completely. I'm sorry that I couldn't keep her from getting hurt..." He didn't feel like he deserved the mother's thanks.
When he said that, Faye's mother knew he was the right person for her daughter. "Thanks anyway. If you hadn't got there at all..." She shook her head and took her husband's hand. "I hope to get calls from you two every day, or else, I'm going looking looking for you myself." She smiled.
Max smiled, only slightly. "IF she agrees....then we will call. And we'll send pictures from every place we visit." That was IF she agreed. What if she didn't? Max said goodbye to her parents, thanked them, and left. He returned to Amy's house and knocked on the door. "I need to talk to Faye. I know she probably doesn't want to see me but I need to talk to her."
Her parents exchanged a glance. They knew very well Faye couldn't possibly say no, or could she? At her home, Amy opened the door and narrowed her eyes at Max. "Migraine, I have a migraine." She glanced behind her quickly, making sure, Faye was still upstairs. "I warn you, I think she hates your guts right now."
Max rolled his eyes. "I don't care, I need to see her." When she spoke of hating his guts, he sighed. "Then that makes two of us." He moved past Amy and went up the stairs, following her scent until he reached the door. He knocked upon it softly, then opened it. "Faye. I need to ask you something."
Faye was startled when Max opened the door of Amy's room. She'd been eating ice cream, yes, ice cream, the cure to all sickness, even those of the heart. She glanced up with the spoon mid-way to her mouth. "What? What are you doing here again? Weren't you leaving?" The harshness in her voice came without she even thinking about it. She just couldn't be calm, nice and kind Faye right then.
Max ignored the harsh tone in her voice. He deserved it. "I want you to come see the world with me, Faye. We can wait until after graduation if you want, but then I have to leave. I can't stay or else they'll catch on. But I don't want to leave you. So let's go see the world. Together."
Faye blinked, at first not really understanding his words. "Go with you?" She put the tub of ice cream away, to be able to think more clearly, with a brief flash of hope in her face. "But my parents... They wouldn't let me. And..." She sobered up at the thought of him still being a vampire, and her a human. "And I'm still mad at you." She said instead of bringing up that little fact.
Max addressed the first problem before the second one. "Yes, go with me. And I already spoke with your parents. They said you're almost an adult now, so it's your decision." He couldn't help but give a slight chuckle when she mentioned she was mad at him. "I am too. It's okay."
Faye looked at him for a moment before scrambling out of the bed to hug him, but then pulled away. "Don't ever disappear like that ever again!" She smacked his arm, not too hard, of course. "Have you got any idea of how worried I was?" She jabbed a finger at his chest.
