Max was quite surprised when she hugged him, but the smack on his arm was no surprise at all. "After what you saw, I think you needed a break. Besides, I had to go make sure that he was a loner and he wasn't traveling with a coven. I had to make sure there weren't any more that could hurt you." He put his arms around her and held her close. "...so...coming with me, then?"

"Well, yes, I was scared and needed time to think, but I needed you. Everyday, I waited for you to show up but you didn't." Faye sighed and glanced up at him through her puffy eyes. She was a mess, but there was no way he was leaving again without her, so she nodded, letting her lips form a genuine smile for the first time in days. "I'm sticking with you."

"I had to make sure you were protected. That no other vampire would hurt you." He smiled softly and held her. "Good. I don't know what I would do if you didn't." (Bedtime, sorry for short!)

"A note or an email would've been nice. Just please try not to do it again." Faye smiled, so glad he wouldn't disappear from her life to never be seen, at least not for now. She wrapped her arms around his neck and softly kissed both of his cheeks, his forehead and the tip of his nose. "And, also, stop trying to convince me you're this monster that doesn't deserve anything good. I love you and I don't care what you are. Okay?"

Max sighed slightly. "Honestly, Faye...I thought you probably hated me or were scared of me. I...I as afraid to see a look of fear on your face when you look at me." His sad face soon turned into a happy one, a smile growing on his lips as she showered him with kisses. "...alright. I'll stop."

She rolled her eyes at him, but still similing. "Silly boy. I now know you can be pretty scary when you get mad. True. But that's you, and you saved my life. I can't be mad at you for that." At his smile, she finally kissed his lips. "You smiled! Woohoo!"

Max chuckled softly and kissed her back, holding her close. "Yeah, I smiled." He chuckled a bit. "You're ridiculous." After a few moments, he sighed contently. "Alright. Well, I want to let you and Faye have your sleepover. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" He pulled away and touched her cheek.

Faye nodded at him and kissed his palm. "Yup." She'd missed him a lot and couldn't wait to spend time with him traveling. Amy was at the doorframe waiting for them to be done. At last! She smiled at the two. "Okay, loverboy. My parents will be here soon and it'd be very awkward if they found you here." Faye stuck her tongue out at her friend. "He's already leaving."

Max chuckled a bit. "Yeah, yeah. I'll see you two later." He kissed Faye's cheek and then ruffled Amy's hair, then left them both and went to his own house. It took a while for him to settle in. He hadn't been home in a long time.

Faye collapsed on Amy's bed again afte Max left. Those past few days had been a roller coaster! "I think I'll be going to prom now." She smiled and Amy rolled her eyes at her, but happy everything was alright now.

Next day, with the news of Max's return, she had to glare at those girls that stared at him as if he was some kind of candy. Yeah, now you know who he is. They talked among them, refering to him as 'the new kid'. She knew that because the locker of one of them was right next to hers.

Everyone noticed him now, but there was also more to notice about him. He didn't REALLY look any different, but somehow he just...seemed different. He walked tall, he was confident. Plus the scar on his cheek was a definite chick magnet. However, it was only to one girl's locker that he went that morning, strolling right up and wrapping his arms around her. "Hey, how was your little slumber party?"

She smiled at him. When she saw him, she stopped paying attention to the other girls. "It was great but we did a little mess in the kitchen with the chocolate syrup." She poked him and kissed his cheek."Do you have any plans for this afternoon?"

Max chuckled a bit and smiled at her. "Hmmm...I think I've got plans to take a pretty young girl out somewhere." He winked at her and wrapped an arm around her. "What about you? Got any plans?" he teased. He was completely oblivious to the jealous looks that Faye was getting.

"Really?" Faye reached to stroke his cheek softly, blushing when he winked at her. "I was planning to take a certain handsome guy somewhere." She smiled at him. "Seriously. It looks like today it's going to rain and I have an idea."

Max laughed a little bit. "Alright, alright. We'll do your idea." He took her hand and held it, smiling down at her. "It's going to be great, Faye. But by the way, I need a look at that scrapbook you have so I can start planning for our future, hmmm? I like being well-prepared, and we'll be going to a lot of places."

Her face lit up at the mention of their trip. "I'll show it to you later." She stroked the back of his hand with her thumb, looking at him with a very sincere and grateful expression. "Thanks for doing this. I can't even begin to explain how awesome it is." She jumped when the bell rang and kissed his nose quickly as a goodbye before running off to her class.

Max smiled down at her gently. "I think I'm the one who should be thanking you, Faye." He kissed her forehead after she kissed his nose, then watched her go off to class. He went off to his own class, humming softly to himself. After class he'd meet up with Faye as often as possible, just to spend time with her until they had to be parted again.

In class, many girls and even some guys, would try to talk to Max and engage him in a conversation. Others did remember who he was and just welcomed him with a 'happy to have you back at school'. During the last break, Faye told Max that she'd go to his house that day, and that he didn't have to pick her up, that it was part of the plan.

Max was surprisingly quite sociable. He held conversation, explaining his scar to the guys as an elaborate gang fight that he'd been unwillingly pulled into by helping someone out. Faye didn't know what the scar was from, but she probably knew it wasn't that. When she mentioned meeting at his house, he smiled and agreed.

People accepted Max's story and were quite awed by it. Faye had been very curious about that scar since the moment she saw him at Amy's house, but she'd been to happy he was back to ask. When it was time to go, she had to run to the parking lot without saying bye to him because her mom had come to pick her up and was in a hurry since she had to return to the restaurant.
