While Faye's mom worked, her father thought about what Max was saying. It was very complicated, and he didn't want Faye getting caught in the mess too. "We'll have to get a lawyer, and build a good case. If we do this right, you a have chance to walk away charge-free. Leave that to me."
Max stared at her. "How? I assaulted an officer." He finished eating, touching his stomach gingerly as he felt the blood start working on healing his body. "...alright. I will, then. Thank you. Both of you." He was silent for a moment. "...I honestly didn't expect anyone to come see me. It's been a long time since I've had any parents coming by to help me out." He paused, then chuckled a bit. "It makes me feel like a teenager."
"We'll think of something," Raven assured him, reaching to pat his hand. "And you're welcome. You might be quite the troublemaker, but you're a good boy, and do deserve to be happy and in peace."
Faye's dad shrugged. "Uh huh, well, you pay and get yourself out of this cell so we can start working on the case."

Max nodded a bit and carefully stood up. "Alright. Send an officer in on your way out, please. And...if Faye wants to see me, she'll need to come by my house. I need to rest to fully heal." Once they sent the officer in, he got the paperwork ready and paid the bail. His family had quite a fortune, after all, and being as old as Max was made it pretty easy to accumulate money. He went straight home, but when he got there...well, Raven and her husband would get a call from Max. "Hey...I'm sorry to bother you again. The cops somehow got a warrant much faster than they're supposed to be able to, and they went through my house. I need somewhere to stay while they're packing crap up as 'evidence'. I think they're going to try to ut me off as some brooding mass-murderer in the making...."
Nodding, they said their goodbyes and drove back home, trusting Max could handle the rest of the paperwork.
It was Faye's mom who picked up the phone when Max called. "Somewhere to stay... Huh..." She looked over her shoulder at Faye, who had just came home from school. "You can stay here, in the basement. Don't worry, it's actually very clean! But there will be rules, understood? You can come now if you'd like."

Max was quite relieved to hear them agree. "Thank you, Mrs. Raven. Don't worry, you can tell me all the rules and I swear I'll follow them. But...this search is going to make our trial a bit...harder." He paused for a moment, then sighed. "...I had blood packs in the fridge...they found them. I'll pack whatever clothes they'll let me take and I'll be right over. Thank you again, Mrs. Raven."
It'd take him an hour, but he would arrive, knocking upon the door with a duffle bag in his hand.

At the sound of the door knock, Faye, who had been just been moving some stuff around to clear space in the basement, went to answer and inmediately hugged Max.
"Hey. Dad told me what happened. Are you still hurt?" She knew he could heal, but that didn't make her any less worried. Faye had been scared he'd be forever locked up and without blood, he'd lose himself... But he was there, and safe, and staying, at least for a while.

Max blinked and held her gently. "Hey, it's okay. I'm okay. I need to have some more blood to really heal better, but I'll manage, I promise." He didn't want her to know he still had that gunshot wound. "I really owe your family, Faye. I don't know where I'd be without them right now." He let go of her. "Can you take me to your parents? I need to talk with them before I settle into the basement."
She smiled, relief plain in her face. "Yes, they care about you a lot too. It... it even surprised me. But you don't owe us anything at all." She motioned him in, and closed the door. Let the school talk each other's ears off, but she was not backing down from this. "Mom is in the kitchen, but dad's not here."
Max nodded a bit. "That's fine. Thank you." He kissed her head and smiled slightly, then headed to the kitchen. "Mrs. Raven?" He walked over and smiled slightly. "Hello. Thank you so much for letting me stay here. Now...we spoke of rules. Would you be able to let me know what they are before I go settle in?" He smiled sheepishly. "And...do you know if there's anywhere around that I'd be able to get some blood? The cops confiscated my blood pouches..." He rubbed the back of his neck.
There was one last box that needed to be moved, so Faye went to get that one, while Max headed to the kitchen.
Faye's mother greeted him with a warm smile. "Hi! Oh, sure." She wiped her hands with a rag she'd left on the counter. "Sev is taking care of that right now. He went to the next city to get the blood you need." She leaned against the fridge, crossing her arms. "As for the rules... you don't have to cower in fear, they're quite simple," she joked. "You must help with the chores, no swear words, and no sex. That's all." Faye's mother turned to continue chopping onions. "Dinner will be ready in an about an hour."

(Sorry! Was sent out for errands)
Max smiled in relief. "Thank you, I really appreciate it." He really needed blood. The bit she'd given him had been just enough to tide him over. When he heard the rules, he stared for a moment, but then laughed softly. "Of course! Those are rules I can definitely abide by." He wrinkled his nose up as he caught the scent of onions. "..right. Can I help you?" Onions or not, he wanted to be able to lend a hand. If she denied, though, he went downstairs and started settling in.

(It's cool I'll be here for at least two more hours anyway because of math homework *_*)
"Nah uh." She swatted his hand away. "Thanks, darling. You'll have plenty of chances to help with the meals, but I wanted to take over today. You do need to get settled, and washed too!"
"The basement is ready!" Faye called from the door that led to it.

(Good luck!)
Max smiled a bit. "Thanks, Mrs. Raven." He nodded a little and headed downstairs, smiling as he spotted Faye. "Hey, thanks for helping fix it up for me." He leaned in to kiss her cheek, then he set his bag down. He sighed. "I couldn't get away with much. They're confiscating a lot of it." He gripped the dufflebag tightly. "..they took everything in the basement." All of his possessions. Everything that reminded him of his life, all the years he lived. The ring. He shook his head slightly. "They're all ba--" He hesitated, then cleared his throat. "Bad men. I know they're cops, but...this is ridiculous." He sighed.

(Thanks!)
Her face paled. The basement... She quickly smiled again, not wanting to worry him even more. He had enough with his own. "I'm sorry this happened. Look, I'll show you the place." She stepped forward. The basement had been recently painted a bright green, to liven it up a bit. It used to be a library/storage room, so there were still shelves with old books, but there was enough space for a bed and a closet, and room to walk around too. "We kept the books. Some are classics, and others I'd never heard of before, but maybe you have, so that's why I did't put them in the boxes."
Faye opened one drawer from the closet and took out a few blankets. "I know you don't feel cold, but, I don't know... just in case." She left them on the bed.

Max walked along with her as she showed him his new room. He smiled as he showed her all of it. "...it's great. Thank you, Faye." He looked around the room, then slowly sat down. "..thank you very much. It's...really nice to just have a nice bed." He laid down and winced, closing his eyes. He touched his stomach where the gunshot was.
Faye smiled as well, glad he liked it. She was about to leave him rest when she noticed him wince in pain. "Do you feel alright? Why are you-" She sat down on the edge of the bed next to him. "C'mon, let me see the wound." Her hair was sticking out everywhere. She hoped he didn't mind too much.
Max glanced at her. "...I'll be fine once your dad comes back with the blood pouches." He shook his head slightly. "No...it's okay. You don't need to see it. It's not that bad." He sighed softly, and looked over at her. He reached up and touched her cheek. "It's okay. I promise." He smiled softly. "I'll be fine. It's just a rough time. I've lived long enough to know that a lot of these come through. Just have to push on."
She looked down. Nothing ever worked like they expected. "Hmmm... And I thought I was the wise one." Faye took his hand from her cheek, but only so she could lay down on her side next to him, hugging his middle with her arm. "At least the finals are over. You no longer have to go to school. I thought seeing everything would be so awesome, and it is, but I also see the bad things, things I hadn't noticed before. Is it like that all the time?"
Max blinked as she laid down beside him. He hoped her mother wouldn't come down and think they were already breaking the most important rule. But then again, they were laying on top of the covers, fully clothed, so that couldn't be mistaken. "Yeah. I bet the school was all riled up today." He sighed a little and leaned his head against hers. "...yeah. It is. You have to learn to take the good with the bad, because they come together."
