Max blinked as she laid down beside him. He hoped her mother wouldn't come down and think they were already breaking the most important rule. But then again, they were laying on top of the covers, fully clothed, so that couldn't be mistaken. "Yeah. I bet the school was all riled up today." He sighed a little and leaned his head against hers. "...yeah. It is. You have to learn to take the good with the bad, because they come together."

"That sucks." Faye chuckled, nuzzling his cheek. There were no hidden motives in her gesture, she just... was tired, of listening to rumors all day, of being worried, of being scared of shadows, that all she wanted was to snuggle, close her eyes and spend time with her boyfriend. They could even grab some muffins later.

Max chuckled slightly. "Yeah, it kind of does. But you'd never know what is good if you didn't know what is bad, so it all works out in the end." He let her nuzzle him, and he put his arm around her. He was careful to keep her away from his wound, though. He closed his eyes and sighed slightly. "...just a warning...if I seem to slip into a coma, I'm not really in a coma. That's just...how I sleep, when I'm hungry, tired and hurt. It's a vampire thing. I just kind of shut down."

"You're right." Faye closed her eyes too, ready to give in to sleep when he spoke again. She felt so confortable she wondered how had she ever slept well before this one moment. "So you're like a... like a bear? That's funny," she mumbled. That was the last thing she remembered saying because that was when she fell asleep. If she hadn't been so tired, she'd have let him sleep in peace, but now it was too late. At least beheaded vampires didn't plague her dreams this time.

Max chuckled slightly. "...yeah. Kind of." He felt her drift off to sleep and he smiled. It wasn't long before he, too, fell asleep. He went into comatose mode, just like he'd warned. Faye would definitely be waking up before he did, and the only thing that would be able to wake him from this sleep before two or three days had passed would be the smell of blood.

Faye woke up about half an hour later and remembered she had her appointment. Oh well, shoot. She looked at Max, vampire-sleeping. There went her resolve. She got up and called Jake to let him know she wouldn't be able to make it.

Her father arrived soon after with the blood, going to the basement to give it to Max.

Max nearly leaped out of bed when he caught the scent of blood in the house, his eyes turning a deep red. He stood there for a moment, eyes darting about, body tensed. And then when he saw Faye's father with blood, he relaxed immediately and took the pouches. "Thank you, sir. I owe you." He sat down and drank the blood, but he refused to do it if Faye was around. He didn't like her seeing this part of him.

"No problem." He stayed downstairs, in case Max went all evil vampire on everyone. It didn't hurt to be cautious. "Is Faye still going to that date she had? If she is, then she is late. Poor kid."

Faye was kept out of the basement, she headed to her own room to take a shower before dinner. A vampire, two demigods and their daughter. And an epic dinner it would be.

Max froze. "...date? She said it was a meeting to go over lines with someone from the drama club..." He tossed the empty blood pouches in the trash and lifted up his shirt to examine the wound. Healing already. Good. "I don't know. I fell asleep." He rubbed his face and dropped his shirt. "It feels so much better to be on a full stomach." Well, full stomach for a vampire. He was still totally eating dinner. "I'm sorry for all the trouble."

(Passing out here. Gotta go to sleep Night! -Pss haven't finished homework but meh-)

"Oh was it?" He shrugged. "It's no trouble, kid." Ha ha. Max is even older than him. "There's a wicked onion soup waiting upstairs, so I hope you saved some space in there."

Faye, meanwhile, was helping set the table. It was routine for her. Her dad often confused the forks with spoons, so the task was left for her to carry out. The doorbell rang. Since everyone else was busy, she went to see who it was.

Max briefly considered if the onion soup was Faye's father's idea, because of the stereotype of vampires and onions. Max went upstairs, chuckling. "I saved space, don't worry." As he got to the top of the stairs, he noticed Faye opening the door. He lingered to see who it was. He was still paranoid that a creep might show up at the door and snatch away his girlfriend. Now that he was fully pumped up, there was no way that was happening.

"Faye!" As soon as the door opened, the boy on the other side burst into tears. Really. And the next thing she knew, he was kissing her. It didn't last long because once she'd processed, she pushed him away with a scold, as if he was a kid who had misbehaved. "I've told you, you can't just do that. What is the matter? What's wrong?"

If it was possible for blood to run cold for a vampire, that would have happened to Max right then. He was by Faye's side in an impossible instant, a hand on her shoulder and his other hand against the boy's chest, putting a good bit of distance between them. Jaw was set firmly, and it was taking all of his self-control to keep from going at the guy. His hand gripped Faye's shoulder slightly. She was definitely NOT going out with this guy to 'study lines'. Feh. Study lines. That was ridiculous. How could he have bought such a stupid lie? Max felt the anger swirling inside. Not just at the boy, now, but at Faye as well.

Faye flinched. She hadn't seen Max coming. The message was loud and clear by the way he was keeping her and Jake apart. "Max, he's crying, don't you see?"

Indeed the boy could barely hold it in. "It's not fair!" He looked down, sobbing uncontrollably. "Why you not love me?!" He crouched and hugged one of Faye's legs, who seriously needed to do something before things got out of hand.

"Umm... Jake, calm down."

Max scowled and stepped forward, lifting Jake up and holding him away ftom Faye...with one hand. "She loves someone else, Jake. And I would advise you to not force yourself on her...and DEFINITELY don't put moves on another man's girl." Faye wasn't doing anything about this, so Max was. "So just get over her and find someone else. Pronto."

Faye started shaking her head. "No, wait. He is not himself." She somehow ducked under Max's arm to be between them again, even though Jake was still in the air. "He's got an arrow, of those arrows. He won't listen to anything you say." She smiled apologetically at him, while Jake just continued sobbing.

"You don't understand!"

Faye's mom appeared in the living room, wondering what was all the noise. "Max, put the boy down, would you? Why don't you bring the salad bowl to the table?"

Max frowned and put him down. "Fine." He turned and left, going to take the salad to the table. If that guy laid one more hand on his gitl, though, it wouldn't be pretty. Max didn't care if he had the arrow. Nobody kissed his girl and got away with it!

Faye spent a good ten minutes reasoning with Jake that he should go home, and yes, she'd go to school the next day. Only then did he leave. She closed the door, her shoulders sagging. Gosh, had she been like that once? Max and Amy must've had found her extremely annoying. "Alright, he's gone."

Max came back out, frowning. He looked like a broody tern, hands stuffed in his pockets. "Faye...come here." As soon as she got close, he leaned in and kissed her. "I don't want you anywhere near that creep. Arrow or not, he's dangerous."

She put her hands on both sides of his face. "He's harmless. I figured the effect will go away if I find the one who loves him, but there hasn't been any luck so far. I have no idea if he had any girlfriends. Every time I ask... Well, you saw him." Faye apologized with a kiss of her own.
