Besides the private space invasions, she didn't see Jake as someone dangerous; but she nodded anyway. She'd find the way to help, even at distance. Faye drew her eyebrows together, but then those lines smoothed. "Are you worried he'll whisk me away, or something?"
Max frowned slightly. "...no. I'm not afraid he'll whisk you away. I'm afraid he'll do something to you that you won't want." He touched her cheek. "...I don't want you to be near him. He's dangerous. He might do things to you because he loves you and is trying to make you love him." He leaned in to kiss her forehead. "...come on. Let's go eat."
Faye thought about that. She hadn't seen it that way, but then, maybe he was right. "Okay, I'll be more careful," she promised, and nodded, heading with him to the table, where her parents were waiting for them. Still, she knew that what Jake felt was not real love, and she had to rid him of it.
Max smiled slightly. "Good." He walked to the table and sat down. It felt so weird for him to sit at a table with a family. It was just..odd. He wasn't sure how to act. Should he talk? Should he not talk and just eat? Is there some polite mixture of both? He had no idea. Usually he ate alone, or with Faye.
Once everyone had sat down, Faye's mother gave a brief thanks, to Demeter, Hera, and yes, even Zeus. "Enjoy the food, kids."
Like one, the family started eating. Faye had not noticed Max's uncertainty about how to approach the dreaded dinner with the girl's parents. But it was never too quiet at the table with them.
"So, the boy outside... Is everything okay with him?" Sev asked gruffly, giving Max a pointed look. The kid better not start any other fight.

Max started eating, glancing at Sev. "He's fine. I didn't hurt him. I can't apologize, either. He forced a kiss on someone very special to me and I'm not going to just sit by and watch it happen." He sighed slightly. "Don't either of you know how to make him stop chasing Faye? If he's fine just throwing himself at her and kisding her, I don't want to wait and find out what else he's okay with."
"Faye told us about him a few weeks ago." Her mother said with a very serious expression. She too was concerned about the measures a person shot with a love arrow would take to get what he wants. She herself had seen it once. And the measures could be quite extreme. "I was hoping by the time he got any ideas, you two would be out of this town, but I'll have to think of something else."
Faye reminded herself this was about her safety, and she didn't have to be upset about it. "I'll avoid him, alright? Amy has told me he acts normal when I'm not around, so I'll try to be as less around as possible."

Max frowned a bit. "Do we need to go search for Cupid again? I was rather hoping to never have to see him again." He glanced at Faye. "That's not going to work, Faye. You weren't near him today and he came to your house." He shook his head some.
"I'll take care of Cupid." Faye's father stopped eating for a moment. "I already called a lawyer. He'll be here tomorrow, by the way."
Faye sighed. Was she supposed to lock herself in the house? "It won't happen again. He just came because he was upset I had cancelled our appointment." Her mother wasn't happy about that solution. She agreed with Max. Things were getting complicated. She just wanted her daughter away from all of it, but still happy.

Max nodded a bit. "Yeah... i guess i need to focus on my own problems right now. I still can't believe this all happened. I...I'm sorry for all this trouble." He took a couple more bites, then moved his chair back and stood up. "Excuse me. Thank you for the meal, mrs. Raven." He smiled, but only slightly. Then he went to his new room. He didn't like bringing trouble to the only people who accepted him as family. He sat on his bed and stared down at his hands. Then he sighed snd fell back on the bed. This is what you get for trying to be a good guy... Max frowned at the dark voice in his head and rolled over. "No...leave me alone.."
Faye was about to disagree about him causing them problems. Honestly, it was the least she could do after he'd saved her life, giving her her sight back and just plainly making every day, a very nice one. He went back to the basement, though, before she could do it. Of course, her parents made her finish her meal before she could move an inch. She got up, and then the doorbell rang again. Faye looked at her parents. Could it be Jake again? She hoped Max hadn't heard it if that was the case.
Max did hear the doorbell, and he was up the stairs in a flash. However, all he did was peek out the basement door for now. If it WAS Jake again, then things could get bad. Max wouldn't stand for the guy harassing his girl twice in one night. He just stared, watching carefully to see who was at the door.
It was Faye's mom who opened the door, to give a piece of her mind to this Jake boy if he continued to insist on looking for her daughter, but it was Amy on the other side.
"Hi, can I talk to Faye?" Her eyes were wide and it was clear she was not her usual careless self.
"Sure, come in, darling, come in."

Max blinked. He wanted to step out and say hi, but he stayed hidden. He wasn't sure what was wrong with Amy. Maybe it was his arrest. Maybe she was convinced that he was a cold murderer. He just stayed where he was, staying hidden by the door and listening. He was worried. Amy wasn't often like this.
The girl saw Faye and finally seemed to relax. "It's super important. My parents won't let me visit Max so you must... tell him, he must leave town as soon... as possible."
"Why are you-?"
"I got here riding my bike. Not a good idea if the last time I did was when I was twelve."
Faye pointed to where the basement was. "Max is here. He's staying until the trial."
"Hey Max! Come out!" Amy yelled, walking straight to the door that led downstairs.

Max came out right away. "Amy, what's going on? Why do I have to leave?" He put his hands on her shoulders. "Listen, I paid bail, they let me out. We're getting a lawyer to fight this. So what's up with making me leave?" He didn't like the idea of leaving town. He couldn't abandon Faye, and he couldn't force her to leave her family.
(Just finished reading Immortal Rules. Might be a bit vampirish )
"That's so wonderful, but you have to listen to me." She took a breath so she could continue talking. "Cupid told me. He was a bit high so at first I thought he was just making it up, but I doubt it. There's a vampire after you, and not like the one you killed the other time, this one is a Master one."
Faye had no idea what a Master vampire was but, there was one thing she needed to point out. "Wait, did you say Cupid? How and when did he even tell you this?"
"Ummm..." Her friend looked away for a moment. "Doesn't matter, anyway, the thing is that it's a fact." To Max, she added, "Don't ask me why, I have no idea why anyone would go after you if you checked any possible coven the other vampire might have belonged to. This one has popped out of nowhere. Cupid might have said more but he..."
"Was not up to talking?" Faye sighed, worried about what the god was up to. Was it just for fun? Or were there any hidden motives? Who was this vampire she was talking about? She looked at Max. Maybe he knew what the big deal was.

(Ooooo x3)
Max was suddenly very serious. "Amy I want you to tell me right away why you were with Cupid, everything that happened, and everything he said. Right now." He took her hand and led her down to his room so they could talk. "Spill it. Everything. I want to know right now. If you really care about my safety you need to tell me everything and not hold back."
This was bad. A vampire after him...honestly, it could be several. He had a rocky past after all. He wasn't always so calm and kind and collected. This was very bad. Especially for Faye. Very much for Faye.

Her expression turned indignant as she followed, Faye not staying behind either.
"I'm not telling you why I was with Cupid! That has got nothing with you at all, Max!" She almost tripped over a step in his hurry to make her talk. "I'm telling you his exact words were: 'Your friend has a bounty on his head, this Master vampire dude is after him', and then fell asleep." She shook her head. "Couldn't get him to wake up."
Faye turned on the lights, and began thinking. Max couldn't engage in a fight with more than one vampire, even one alone could be dangerous. Amy was right, he had to leave. "Cupid is a god, but I don't think he was lying. Maybe you do have to leave," Faye said, leaning against a wall.

Max glared at her. "Amy. I want to know why you were with Cupid right now. I'm not leaving until you tell me why you were with him." He knew that she wouldn't be able to deny that. She had come all this way just to warn him, so she wouldn't endanger him by keeping back information. Meanwhile, Max was thinking. He did have to leave. Draw the vampire away from Faye. Fight him. Find out who put the bounty on his head. There was a lot to do, and none of it could be done with Faye at his side.
