Faye laughed and started moving around holding his hand, making it seem as if they were dancing. "I'm sure we can work something out." She said, her mind already going over what they could do.
Max chuckled and moved with her, trying to mimic her as best he could. "I'm sure we will." He made sure that she wasn't about to fall, and they danced like this for a while. However, their cheerful date suddenly got a twist. Max stopped skating and his head jerked to the side, eyes zeroing in on a few people down by the other side of the rink. They'd fallen, apparently. Suddenly someone came on the intercom, requesting all skaters leave the rink because there was an injury.
The scent of blood was unmistakable to Max. He hurried Faye off of the rink. "I'm going to use the restroom since we have a break." he said quickly, leaving the room. He splashed his face with cold water from the sink and glared at himself in the mirror. His reflection was faint, ghost-like. "Keep it under control." he growled to himself. Amy would be pissed if he bit on the first date, and honestly he didn't want to hurt Faye. She was a nice girl. But those sharp teeth of his were already making an appearance from the smell of blood.

Faye didn't notice anything weird in his behaviour but was worried about the people who were hurt. She was waiting outside for Max when she decided she could go see if they needed some help.
Luckily, the person was fine. A laceration from the skates, but some first-aid fixed him up pretty good. The staff on hand had been trained for occurrences like this. Soon, they let other people back onto the rink, and the injured person was taken off to rest. Max came back soon after that. "How'd things go?"
Faye looked back at where the person was and smiled. "He's better now, just has to rest for a while because of the injury." When she looked at him again, she noticed he was a little different, she couldn't put her finger on what it was but there was something definetely different.
Max noticed her staring. "Well, are we going to get back to skating or what?" He went past her and into the rink. He didn't want to give her a chance to notice his teeth, or the dilation of his pupils. It was best not to get into his 'weirdness' yet. The first date wasn't even over, it was far too early to tell her about himself.
Faye followed him frowning and just then, received a text from her mother. She opened it and stared at the screen for a moment. "Don't come back home until I tell you it's safe." She whispered. What was it now? Last time they'd sent something like that, it was before a hellhound had gone wild and gotten into their house. It worried her.
Max noticed her concerned look at the text she'd gotten. "What is it? What's wrong?" He skated over and read the text over her shoulder. "...yikes. Well, if she doesn't text you by the time we leave, I can take you to my place for a bit until it's safe." Was her dad an alcoholic or something? Was that why they didn't have family things anymore, and why she couldn't come home because it wasn't safe? It made sense.
"Okay, that's a good idea." She said, quickly shoving her cellphone back into her pocket. "It seems you're lucky and won't get an interrogatory from any of my parents."
Max chuckled a bit. "I...avoid parents. A lot." He skated around with her for a bit more. "Just let me know when you want to leave, alright?" He wasn't sure how long her legs would keep up with it all.
When she was finally too tired to move, Faye laid her head on his shoulder. "I think it was enough skating for a week." She yawned and checked her cellphone again. "I need to see what's going on there."
Max paused, staring at her in surprise when she put her head on his shoulder. "Heh, okay." He went off the rink with her and got his skates off, then returned them. "Alright. You can stay for as long as you want. I don't want to send you back if it's not safe." He walked with her out to his car, and started driving off. "So...this curse, by the way. When does it take effect?"
Faye fastened her seatbelt, feeling like she needed to head home. "Around six am, when the sun rises." She tapped her fingers on her leg anxiously. "I'm really sorry you have to take me with you, you don't have to do it."
Max stared at her. "You think I would really let you go home when it's obviously a dangerous environment, or let you wander around the place by yourself? That's not happening. I'm not like that. Besides, Amy would kill both of us if we let that happen and you know it." He gave a slight nod to her answer to his question. "Like I said, the sun kinda sucks anyways, you're not missing much." He drove them to his house, and parked. It was a very nice house for just one person to be living in.
"Come on in. If you get tired, there's a guest bedroom you can crash in."
"Come on in. If you get tired, there's a guest bedroom you can crash in."
"Thanks." Faye was silent during the rest of the ride. She slowly got out of the car, taking in the house, wondering where his parents were. She tapped her fingers on the top of the car. "Nice house." She said rubbing her arms.
"Thanks." Max made sure to get her inside safely, then he closed and locked the door just for extra measure. Not that anyone would come prowling around his place, especially at night. "Want anything to drink? If you want to relax and watch a movie, you can see what I've got." He gestured to the livingroom and the TV cabinet with the shelves of movies.
Walking into the house, she took a moment to let her gaze wander around it. Shd nodded at him, smiling rather shyly."Thanks, but I'm fine." It was weird for her to be in his house, but she was really grateful for it. She walked to the living room to see if she could pick a movie from the many there were.
Max went to sit down, and leaned back on the couch. "So...are you okay? With whatever's going on in your house." He looked at the TV, then out the window, then back to her. "If you need anything, just let me know, alright?"
"I'm worried." She admitted, checking her phone again, but there was nothing. "They know how to take care of themselves but still..." She wasn't looking at him but at the shelves of movies, not really seeing the titles. "We live a dangerous life. I can't thank you enough for offering me to come with you."
Max looked at him. Dangerous. Right, she'd think she was still in danger if she knew what he was. "It's no problem, Faye. I'd rather you were somewhere safe than in danger. That's only normal, right?" He got up. "Here...I'll put something on. Silence is just awkward." He put on a movie, then sat down. "Feel free to sleep or something. I woke up in the afternoon so I'm not tired."
