Max glanced at her, and smiled. "...I'd like to watch TV with you." He walked over and sat down on the couch, being sure there was a whole cushion between them for safety. "This isn't how it's always going to be, alright? He's just...very strong right now, after everything that happened. I need to get more in control, and then...Then I can give you all the hugs you want, okay?" He smiled softly at her. He didn't want to ever put her in that situation from earlier ever again. Especially not the part where he threatened her. "...I love you, Faye."
(bedtime xD I'll post again tomorrow!)

She nodded, taking it easy and smiled back. "Great." Faye obdiently stayed on her side of the couch, thinking her dad would be glad with the new arrangement. "All the hugs I want, you promise?" She rested her hand just in the space between them, daring him to just hold it. "Love you too, Max. There will always be us, at least." That made the future brighter.
(Bye bye!)
(Bye bye!)
Max glanced over at her and chuckled. "All the hugs you want." He smiled softly at her, but he did not take her hand. He looked back to the TV, listening as she spoke. "Yes. That is true." Always...until she died. And then he would be alone again. He didn't speak this, though. If she was happy during her lifetime, that was all that mattered.
Her parents called after a while and her mom sounded relieved that Faye had picked up. It meant things were okay at home. Faye told them, without so much detail what had happened.
"Yes, it's just that he feels he is more in control if you two are near to watch over us. Yep, don't worry we'll be fine. He just needs to recover."
After hanging up, she looked at Max. "They'll be here by tonight. Meanwhile, do you want me to call Amy?" Max was still kind of tense, and maybe they both needed Amy to come and make things better.

Max watched her answer the phone, then he looked back at the tv. When she mentioned Amy, he fibally turned his attention to her. "Yeah, that would be good. Have her pick up some hair dye and colored contacts while she's out."
"Okay!" Amy answered in a matter of seconds and she was ecstatic about Max being back, which was why Faye failed to tell her anything else, at least until she got there.
Faye yawned, drawing her feet up on the couch. "Tell me about where you've been. Where did you go?" She rested her cheek on her knees, looking at him. "It can't all have been fighting."

Max considered what he could tell her that wouldn't frighten her. "Some of it was investigating. Recovering. A lot of it was fighting and training, though. But I defeated the vampire. I was in Europe for most of the time. I recovered in canada. What about you? Tell me what happened while I was away."
Her eyes lit up, even if he was speaking of fighting and dangerous vampire stuff. "I did go to prom, with Amy and a group of friends. They were very fun to be around. I took a lot of pictures." She smiled, remembering that night. "We've been working at the library, and your house is perfectly taken care of. We go there every weekend. Your family picture is there. We... uh... Amy helped me hang it on the wall."
Max listened to her, blinking at the last bit. "My..?" He paused and stared down dazedly. "Oh..that's right. I had a family." He looked up and smiled at her. "Thank you. It sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad." She had taken care of things for him. That was good.
"We can stop by tomorrow." She offered, hoping that would help him slowly find himself again.
In that moment, Amy strolled in. She had a key Faye had given her since sometimes Amy had had to make some trips in the middle of the night due to Faye's nightmares. "Hey, hey hey! Look who's- Whoa, what did you do to your hair?"

Max smiled. "I would like that." When Amy came in, he got up and hugged her. "Amy!" He gave her a pointed look with his red eyes. "It's not just my hair, Amy. Things uh...changed, while I was gone." He pulled away and glanced at Faye, then back to Amy. "So how have you been?"
Amy didn't fully understand what he meant by 'changed' but, well she was Amy and she'd find out. "Bored out of my mind, actually. I think I just miss the craziness."
"I kind of did too." Faye smiled but it was a bit sad. She pointed her thumb in the direction of the kitchen. "Be back in a second. I'll bring ice cream."

Max nodded to Faye, then while she was gone he moved closer to Amy and quietly explained what he had explained to Faye. He also went into a bit more detail. All the blood and carnage between vampires that he had experienced, and the...'personal relationships'. "You can't tell her. She'd be heartbroken. My other side was in control. I couldn't stop it." He moved away when Faye came back and forced a smile. "So yeah, that's why my hair and eyes are a different color. You know?" he said, a bit more light-hearted.
"I brought vainilla and chocolate. Ice cream makes people happy." She reasoned, more to herself than anything. Faye found nothing wrong about their conversation, guessing he was filling her in about what he'd already told her.
Amy had a harder time slipping into normal mode when Faye came in, but managed to do it at last. "Oh, yay! I want chocolate!" She gave Max a look that screamed 'We'll talk more later'. She also wanted to ask Faye if that's why she wasn't as happy as she'd thought she'd be. After all that time of waiting, and talking about their plans, saving and preparing, Amy had expected Faye to practically be jumping around in joy. But she definetely wasn't.

Max chuckled a bit and smiled at her. "Yes it does, Faye." He glanced at Amy. "Faye's parents are coming back from their trip tonight. I'm still having a hard time controlling my other side, so they are coming back to keep things under control." He glanced at Faye. She could tell Amy what happened if she wanted, but otherwise he wouldn't say. He sat down again and let the girls eat. In fact, Faye hadn't seen him eat a single thing except for having some tea.
She let Amy sit down first, and only then did Faye do too. She didn't want to go through having Max fall off the couch trying to get away from her. It made her feel like she was some clingy girlfriend whose boyfriend can't stand her. There was not a chance she was telling Amy about the bed thing until Max was gone. A small laugh came out, followed by a few short giggles. Amy looked at her like she'd lost her mind, but otherwise just ate a spoonful of ice cream.
"Are they? Is it that bad then?" The girl turned her head to him.

Max glanced at Amy. "It's...difficult. And I don't want to risk anything happening to Faye. I had to come see her, though. But I just want to make sure she is safe. It's especially harder for me because she's my girlfriend. That makes me naturally drawn to her. And that can be dangerous if my other side takes over." Dangerous in many ways, not just neck-biting.
"I see. And by the looks of it, you know exactly how dangerous it is."
Faye rubbed her arms with a thoughtful expression. Her parents would still take some time, and the sun would be setting soon. She stood up again, apparently restless. "I'm going for a walk, okay? Amy, I leave you in charge. It won't take more than ten minutes."
Before Max could protest, knowing he would, Amy nodded. "Sure, don't go too far. "

Max didn't answer her mention of knowing how exactly it is. When Faye spoke of taking a walk, he glanced at her. "Take your cellphone and don't be gone long, okay? Stay in lighted areas, it's getting dark." He watched as she left, then looked over to Amy. "...why'd you let her leave?" He didn't like that. It could be dangerous.
Faye nodded to his instructions, holding back a smile. He sounded like her dad. She gave a small wave before walking out.
"She does it all the time." Amy explained, poking the ice cream she'd scooped from the tub. "So, what is the problem now? Just... yourself?" If so, this was so depressing it made The Fault in Our Stars look like a stroll through the park.
