She gapes. Had she heard right? Max, who treated Faye like a china tea cup that could break with the slightest of touches? Amy rubbed her eyes. "I don't know whether to slap you, or cry." She put the ice cream aside. "Do you think time is all you need? How will you overcome it? Geez... That's why you two are colder than my butt when I travelled to Canada last year."

Max sighed. "...that makes two of us, Amy..." He was silent for a few moments. "...I don't know. I just...don't know. I'm going to talk to her parents about it. Her father warned me not to come back with more problems than when I left. But...this just might be. Either just as much, or more. I...don't know." He rubbed his face. "...I cried, Amy. You should have seen the look on her face when I threatened her." He looked down at his hands. "...I've been trying to pass myself off, all this time, for something that I'm not. I'm not a human, Amy. I'm not meant to be with humans. I'm a monster. I have to stay with monsters...because we only hurt ones that aren't like us..."

Her face hardened. "You're right. You're worse off than before. Totally. But, you can do something about it." She stood up to stand in front of him, very srious. "I have no idea of what you, or Faye will do to get over it, but I know skirting around each other to avoid touching is not going to work." She said it like she couldn't believe they thought that was the solution. "The vampire wants Faye. Oh wow, so, you're gonna let him? Honestly, you're a monster because you say you are, now get your butt off that couch and look for her." Amy glanced up at the roof. "I'm so awesome for moral support, but you get on my nerves."

Max frowned and stood up as well. "Listen, Amy, don't you think you understand me. I'm not touching her until her parents get here. When they're here, they keep the vampire in check. If I do anything to Faye with her parents around, they'll kill me, and the vampire knows it, so he won't do anything. He'll let me be in control. That's the chance I need to get in control for a longer time. But right now, you aren't enough to stop the vampire from getting what it wants. And I don't want to risk touching her again until I'm certain it won't end in me pinning to her a bed while she stares up at me in fear!!" He turned away from her. "You didn't see it, Amy. I did. Besides....she needs her time. Just...let her have it. A lot has happened tonight."
(Bed for me!)

"I don't think I-" She grumbled, out of pure frustration. Damn the vampire. Damn all of them and their stubborness. "Fine. Stay here, and mope. I'll go with Faye to do damage control. You know what... I wish everything you told me, you could tell her too. That'd make things more simple."

Amy patted his cheek. "See ya later."

Max rolled his eyes. "I'm not moping! I'm giving her space! Damnit Amy she saw THAT vampire in me! The one that tried to kill her! If I told her everything I told you, she'd only see him more." He shook his head. "Go catch up to her. I'm just going to watch some TV."

"She'd not- She would... ugh, Whatever," she said in a sing-songy voice, doing a flourish before leaving.

Faye's parents were just getting a cab in that moment to get home. They even paid more in order to get there faster, to make sure Faye was alright.

Whoever artived first would find Max in the bathroom...arguing with his reflection. "I refuse to bend to your will...just leave me be! I've gotten along just fine without you!" There was a pause. "That was one time! One time I needed you, no more!" Another pause. "I am not weak! I don't need you!"

It was Raven and Sev. Hearing Max's voice, they climbed up the stairs. "Max, kid, where is Faye?" He asked,not without suspicion. What if he after all, hadn't been able to control himself and had hurt his daughter?

Faye's mom was wondering the same thing, and also... "Who were you talking to? Are you alright?"

Max looked over at them. "Oh...hello. Faye is on a walk with Amy. I'm glad you could come. Sorry to interrupt your vacation." He suddenly scowled at the mirror. "Shut up!!" he hissed. He looked back to them. "..the master vampire is dead...but it seems like I'm paying the price."

They both breathed a sigh of relief, and at least Raven, felt guilty for it. She frowned though, when he seemingly told the mirror to shut up. "Is it the vampire side you talked about before? Sev, go make some coffee, dear. I need some." She turned back to Max. "Max, you're a good person. But it's one thing to be okay with this when you could protect my daughter from danger, but it's different if the danger is you. Calm down, and tell me what is going on in that head of yours."

Max sighed. "It seems that the more I kill and tge more blood I drink, the stronger my vampire side becomes. The past three months he was in control so I could defeat the vampire. Now he's slipping through, and I can't stop him. He talks to me, gets me off guard, and takes over..."

"And you think us being here will help keep it at bay?" Faye's mother wondered if he was really that scared of his girlfriend's parents. They did had their kickass side, after all.

A 'Dad!' came from downstairs, when Faye returned, Amy-less, since she'd made a strange excuse and gotten into her car to drive back home.

Max nodded. "You two are gods. He won't risk anything because he wants to stay 'alive' as much as I do. So...it's better if you're here." He looked down at himself. "...I'm really sorry, Mrs. Raven. If I had known this would happen, I...I never would have come back." He took in a sharp breath, then slowly let it out. "I'm just...I'm going to work on staying calm. Only as much blood as I need to survive, and stuff. No violence. Maybe that will push him back behind the walls."

"Good, then we have a plan." She cleared her throat, putting on her best mother-like expression she had. "You've had enough time to catch up with my daughter for today. You can come back tomorrow. It's getting late, so goodnight, young man."

Faye walked past the bathroom just in that moment, thinking Max had left. She was surprised to see him there.

Max nodded. "Yes. Thank you, Mrs. Raven." He looked over as Faye came by. "Hey, Faye. I wanted to say goodnight before I left." He reached over and took her hand, then smiled slightly. "...I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night, okay?" He kissed her hand, then let it go and left quickly.

Faye's fingers briefly curled around his hand before he kissed it and then stepped back. "Okay, night." He hadn't told her parents about what really happened, because if he had, he wouldn't have been on walking terms right then.

Like every now and then morning, the next one, Faye was up very early to work a little on her garden project. It wasn't as impressive as Max's was, but it certainly was heading there. There was a good batch of moon lilies she paid special care to.

Max was not up as early. In fact, he slept half the day. Then he made his way off to Faye's house. He knocked upon the door, took in a deep breath, and knocked once more. He would probably have to talk to her parents before seeing Faye. He wasn't sure how they would be about him visiting.

It was Faye's uncle, Vic, the one who had been at the hospital once, who opened the door. He had no idea who the boy was. "Yes? Can I help you kid?"

"Let him in!" Raven called from the kitchen, not needing much science to guess who it was. Faye, meanwhile was up in her room, getting dressed to be ready before the library opened.

Max came in. "Um, hello, sir." He went inside. "Good morning, Mrs. Raven." Or was it afternoon? He didn't really know. "Where's Faye at? Can I see her?" He went into the kitchen, looking at her for a moment.
