Faye held her hands up. That had been fast. If she had continued trying to pick a movie, morning would have come. "Okay, I'll just sit here until I feel sleepy." She said taking a seat on the couch. "What movie is it, by the way?"
Max glanced at the cover of the movie he'd picked. "Umm...Some comedy." He handed the case over to her and leaned back. "I watch a lot of movies, it's been hard to keep them all straight." He chuckled a bit, then rubbed his neck.
She laughed and read the title, but when she didn't recognize it, she shrugged. "Guess I'll have to watch the movie." She grabbed a cushion and put it on her lap, hugging it. She was there watching a movie while who knows what was happening to her parents. It was surreal.
Max watched her for a few moments. "...just try to relax, okay? It'll be fine. I'm sure." He leaned back and just watched the movie. "Sorry. It's kind of quiet around here." He noticed it more when people were around.
"It's alright. I don't mind some calm." She leaned her head back. "My family is VERY loud. Parents arguing but then making out, which is still weird, even for me. Baby brother crying, and uncle singing very off key, and not only in the shower but at all times."
Max listened to her and grimaced. "Sheesh. This must be heaven for you, huh? I'm so glad I live alone, I can't stand that kind of stuff." It'd be especially disgusting to see his parents making out. Gag! Max rubbed his neck a little, watching the movie after he spoke.
Faye laughed again. "I'm used to it, but this is a nice change." She checked her phone, again. "This is getting on my nerves." She said leaving her phone on her lap and trying to watch the movie too. After some minutes, she fell asleep though.
Max watched her a bit worriedly until she finally fell asleep. He smiled slightly and went to get a blanket, tucking her in. He made sure that her phone was set to alert her and wake her up if she got a text. Then he went to his fridge and took out a small dark cup with a straw. That burger earlier hadn't been enough after the blood spill. He sipped from it quietly and leaned against the door of the fridge. There was a girl in his house and she had no clue he was what he was. This was definitely new.
Faye snored softly, at first sleeping without any trouble. But soon, she started stirring and moving trying to wrap the blanket tighter aorund her. She was also mumbling stuff but the words were muffled and could hardly be heard.
Max easily hurt the noises and put the cup back in the fridge, going over to see if she was okay. He would tuck the blanket closer around her. "Shh...it's okay, Faye. Sleep. Everything's okay." He glanced at her phone. But was it? He wanted to go check himself, but he had no clue where she lived, and he didn't want to leave her here all alone.
Faye calmed down a bit, no longer talking. In that moment, her phone rang, there was a message and a call from her mom. Faye almost fell down from the couch when she heard the sound of it.
Max heard the phone and was quick on the reaction, making sure she didn't fall off the couch and then snatching the phone up and answering it. "Hello, Faye's phone." She would probably be too groggy to talk on the phone just yet, so he would!
"Hello? Who is it? Where is Faye?" Her mother asked with a serious voice, but very worried. Faye sat up inmediately, with her hair a little messy and her eyes half closed.
"Hi, Ma'am, my name is Max. I'm a friend of Faye's, she's right here. She was taking a nap, so I answered her phone for her. But if you want, I can hand it over so you two can talk. She's safe and sound though, don't worry." He smiled at Faye. "I'm Amy's cousin, by the way." To reassure the mother that he wasn't some freak.
Her mother sighed, calming down just a bit. "Thanks for helping her out, and yes, I'd like to talk to her." Faye smiled back at Max. It seemed as if everything was okay, and it felt so relieving to at last have news.
Max held the phone out to Faye. "It's your mom, she wants to talk. She sounds okay, so I'm sure everything is fine." He went into the other room to give her 'privacy', but his ears could still pick up the conversation on Faye's end at least.
Faye whispered him a 'thanks' and took the phone. "Mom? Yeah I'm fine, Max offered to stay at his house until you called. What? No! Everything is fine, I was sleeping on the couch after watching a movie! What happened at home?" Her mother explained her that a fury had followed her dad from his work and seemed to have been looking for something at their house, but it was gone now. "And what was that thing looking for in our house?" She sighed when her mom told her she didn't know. "Okay, I'll wait here. Bye, love you."
Max finished off the cup in his fridge and rinsed it out, then set it in the dishwasher. He wiped his mouth and checked his teeth to make sure they were going back in properly. When he heard her say 'bye', he walked over and sat down beside her. "Is everything okay? Are your parents alright?" He watched her carefully. She didn't seem upset, so things couldn't be too bad.
Faye nodded and rubbed her eyes, setting her phone on the table in front of them. "Yes, they're okay. Everything's alright now." She smiled and looked at him. "Mom will come for me in a few."
Max smiled back at him. "Alright. I'm glad everything's okay. Hope the date wasn't too bad, yeah?" He chuckled a bit and stood, stretching a little to crack his back. "You know, I kind of feel like telling you what makes me 'special' like you. But I don't think I will. If I did that, I wouldn't have a chance for a second date." He gave her a little wink.
