Faye frowned, doubting that. "I liked the date, and I wouldn't mind going out again. How do you know I wouldn't if you told me?" She leaned back casually, more relaxed now that she knew her family was okay. "Just try me."
Max chuckled a bit. "Well, there's a few reasons, but it also takes all the mystery out from me, doesn't it?" He took her hand and helped her to her feet, making sure the TV was turned off and that she had her phone. Then, he walked her to the door. He could hear a car coming up the driveway. "Your mother's here." His hand slip from her hand to her wrist, feeling the pulsing of her blood. He leaned in towards her ear and let a bit of that vampire nature slip through in his voice. "Wonder what you'd think if you knew what I really am..." he whispered, the quality of his voice nearly knee-buckling. But before she could make any response, the door was open and he'd nudged her out onto the front step, closing the door behind her and keeping himself inside.
Before she knew it, Faye was outside. She couldn't shake off his parting words; she doubted she would. "You'll never know until you tell me!" She told him from the other side of te door. She walked towards her mom's car pulling up in front of Max's house and with one last look back, she climbed in.
Max leaned back against the door and rubbed his mouth. Using that quality always made him...slip. He shook it off and went to put the movie away. There wasn't much to clean up, so he just went about his night. He couldn't stop thinking about her, though. He was determined to go to school and find her when they next had classes. He knew her scent, now. It shouldn't be too hard, even in a school full of brats.
After she got home, she went to the bed. It was late and soon, her sight would be gone. She'd had fun with Max and certainly looked forward to another date, but she was still worried about what his 'secret' might be. What could be so bad that he feared she'd not want to go out with him again? Sometime later, she finally fell asleep. She wanted it to be Monday already.
The rest of the weekend went by without much excitement. Come Sunday, Max stayed awake during the day and slept through the night so he would be able to go to school in the morning. And go to school he did. The first thing that happened when he got there was the creepy act of finding Faye. He knew her scent, so he just followed it through the school to where it would be most prominent; her locker. Then he leaned against it and waited.
Faye arrived to school a couple of minutes later. By now, she knew her way to her locker and could find it without Amy's help. She walked towards it unaware of Max being there. She looked the same as always, just that he gaze wasn't focused on anything in particular.
Max saw her, and he smiled a little. "I finally get to meet you at school. Hello, Faye." He moved a little so she could access her locker. "Everything still alright at home? If you need a safe place again, you can just let me know and you're welcome to come back."
Fay jumped when she heard his voice. "Geez Max! Don't scare me like that!" She frowned opening her locker. "It's nice to... hear you again. And yes, everything is alright. There was a lot we had to fix but we'll manage."
Max chuckled a bit. "Sorry. Habit." He smiled a little. "Well, I'm glad everything is okay. What happened, if you don't mind my asking?" He helped her get her things from her locker. "How do you manage during the day, by the way?"
"I know the school. The hallways and where each classroom is." She said simply taking the books he handed her. "It does help that Amy walks with me so I don't run into any walls or any other stuff." She smiled at him. "As for what happened, that will be a secret until you tell me yours."
Max listened to her and nodded. "Well, I'll walk you today." He started walking, and watched her carefully. "Tch, that's not fair." He rubbed his neck. "Well I'm not able to tell right in the middle of a hallway. It wouldn't be a secret then. Maybe after school."
Faye chuckled and hooked her arm with his. She was so used to doing this with Amy because it was easier for her to be guided like that, that she didn't realize Max was not used to it. "Thanks, and I can wait."
Max was a little surprised when she took his arm, but then again they'd been holding hands for most of the night previous. "Alright. What's your first class, Faye?" He'd walk her there, and once she was safely at her desk, he got ready to head to his own class. "What's your last class? I'll let Amy take care of you for the rest of the day, but I'll pick you up from your last class."
"It's English." She said sitting down, tappping her fingers on her desk. "You will come, right?" She asked, just to make sure. He'd actually mentioned a second date before. No one had ever expressed that much interest in her before. "I mean... Ummm nevermind."
Max lifted a brow. "Of course I'll come pick you up. If I say I'm going to pick you up, then I'm going to do it. I'll see you then, alright? I have to get to my own class." He smiled a bit and touched her hand, then left the classroom. When it finally came time to pick her up, Max was there, walking to her desk. "Hey, Faye. How was your class?"
The day seemed as if it would never end, the classes lasting longer than usual, or at least that's how it felt for Faye. She smiled at Max when the bell finally rang signaling her last class of the day was over. "Very educational, but I don't think I paid much attention."
Max helped her up and took her books. "What? Why not?" He walked her back to her locker and helped put her books away. "Alright, come on. We're going out before I tell you anything. You didn't have plans after school, right?"
"I was thinking about... other things." She said simply. Faye was grateful to have him there helping her. Sometimes Amy confused her books and she ended up bringing home the calculus book instead of the biology one. She was that distracted. "Nope, I didn't have any plans."
Max led her outside. "Good." He smiled a bit and helped her into his car, making sure she was able to buckle as well before getting into the driver's seat. "I was thinking we'd go to my house and order pizza or something." He drove along, quiet music playing in the background from the radio.
