"I can take it from here, don't worry." She smiled, not paying attention to time. It wasn't very late and she knew her parents wouldn't get mad if she returned a bit past the average curfew. They understood night time was important for her. There were faint evidences of this shown in her face, where there were dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep.
After placing what she needed in the pan, she put it in the oven. "There, now we just have to wait."

Max nodded and watched her, then wiped his face off while he was waiting. When she spoke of everything being done, he smiled. "Alright. Well...how about we take a trip? There's a nice garden out back that you might like." He held out his hand for her, waiting to see if she would take it. Whether she took it or not, he led her to the back door and into a nice garden. It was beautiful, with plenty of flowers that bloomed in the moonlight. "I worked on this myself. I need something to do during the night hours when I don't sleep."
Faye took his hand and her cheeks turned a pinky red. "Okay, let's see it." She looked around the garden, awed that he'd been able to get all of those flowers to grow on his own. He'd had to put so much effort in it, and she admired that. "Wow, it's... beautiful. You use your time well." She said stopping in front of some flowers that got her attention.
Max watched her, taking her around to all the flowers until she stopped at some certain ones. "Moon lillies. I'm not surprised you would like them. You know, Faye, the flowers in this garden are a lot like you. When the sun is out, they close up, unable to see. But when the moon comes out, they bloom, and admire the starry sky." He spoke softly, and was honestly ashamed of the pretty words from his mouth. But she inspired it.
Faye smiled as he spoke, not taking her eyes off the flowers until he finished and then she rose on he tiptoes to place a kiss on his cheeks. She wasn't thinking about it, it just... happened. Blushing at her random action, she looked back at the flowers, avoiding eye contact. "That's deep... and nice. Thanks."
Max blinked when suddenly a kiss was placed on his cheek. He froze, and stared at her for a few long moments even though she was avoiding eye contact. "...you're welcome." He looked away and took in a soft breath. Oh man. This was getting too...into it. He wasn't sure if he could, or should, keep this up. "So uh...should we go back inside? Or do you want to stay out here?"
"Okay." She felt her cheeks getting even warmer and wanted to facepalm right there for doing that. What had been she thinking? "Yeah, we can go back." She nodded and started to walk back into the house first, leaving behind the fairytale-like garden, hoping he wouldn't be awkward around her now. She liked being friends with him.
Max went inside with her, just as the oven beeped out that it was ready. "Well, looks like we have good timing. Here we go." He smiled and brought her to the oven, giving her some oven mitts so she could take out the pie.
"Yup." Faye smiled and opened the oven, then carefully took out the pie from it. It looked good and it smelled good too. She placed it on the counter and gave a satisfied sigh. "Now we just wait some minutes and then taste it."
Max's poor senses were on wonderful overload when that pie came out of the oven. It DID smell good. "It looks delicious, Faye. You're really good at baking!" He looked at the pie for a few long moments, smiling a bit. "After I have a slice, how about we take it and you back home so your parents can have some too? I haven't met them yet, anyways."
Faye smiled brightly at him. "Thanks! And you did your part too so congratulations." She thought about his offer and frowned. "We could, but then you'd only have a slice. The pie is a gift to you, actually. For helping me yesterday, and today in school. Mom has her own bakery so we're not short of pies." She said smiling again.
Max smiled gently and pet her head. "I think I can probably only eat a slice, Faye. My diet's not too normal, remember? I can eat normal things, but only so much. Really, I'd like to go see your parents. And I'm sure they'd be happy with the pie. No matter how much a person bakes, it's always nice to get something from someone else, right?"
Faye sighed and nodded, understanding. Vampire stuff then. She'd have to learn more about it. "Yeah, I remember." She smiled at him in agreement. "They'll be happy if we give them the pie, but I don't know about you meeting my parents... Dad is one of the god of war's kids so... you know. Mom will like you, well, she already does anyways."
Max chuckled a little. "Don't worry, Faye. Unless your dad has holy water, or a wooden spike or a cross or something, I think I'll be fine." He smiled a little bit and patted her head. "Alright then, cut me out a slice, Faye. I want to taste this pie and see how it is."
Faye grumbled and nodded. She was really worried her dad would ruin everything as he often did. He just had a knack for it, even if didn't want it. It still happened. Her face lit up a bit when he patted her head and even more when he spoke again. "Okay, okay, just one sec."
Drawing a knife out of a drawer, she sliced the pie, placing one piece on a plate for him, and one for her. She waited for him to taste it first, eager to see what he'd think about it. His opinion really mattered to her.

Max took the piece of pie and bit into it, chewing it carefully. "...That's amazing. It's so good, Faye! You did a great job!" He smiled a bit and kept eating the rest of the pie slice. "It's delicious! That is a fantastic pie." He chuckled a bit.
(I'm back!)
"If Mom some day offers you something to eat say exactly what you just did and she'll love you forever." Faye beamed at him and took a bite too. "You helped me as well, don't forget that." She finished eating and clasped her hands together. "And now, we have to clean up. "

(WB!)
Max grinned and gave a laugh. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind." He looked over at her and smiled. "Yeah, but you did most of the work." He went to help clean up, watching her carefully. She was so kind. He wondered why Amy had ever brought her to him.

"Next time, I'll have to think of a more complicated dessert then." She said as she washed the bowl and the plates they'd used. The music, the dessert, Max and her being able to see made it seem like her life was normal. Simple. What'd she do when she graduated and had to go to college? "Are you going to college?" She suddenly asked him.
