I hope this is the right spot to vent a little. Since this points more to roleplay over general OOC chatter, that is.

I'm having a hard time running a couple of plots for different players. Running plot is something I normally love, but if I'm totally honest, members are beginning to tap out my muse. I say this because they are either blatantly breaking rules and arguing instead of discussing respectfully, or they enter a story only seeking attention and reactions from existing members. Heck, someone was so pushy OOC about joining after I declined them, that I considered blocking because they would not stop at the time.

So anywho, it's tough. No one should force themselves to write when this is all just hobby, but with the same respect, I do not feel it's fair to those enjoying the plot if I were to just drop everything, either.

Where do you guys turn when muse is tapped out? Any tips to move past writer's block?
It sounds as though you're running a group or weaving story plots for multiple people with having to admin. Just that alone can be draining, and running a group myself, I understand 100%. Administrating in general leaves very little time to get anything else done because your creativity is getting pulled in multiple directions for other people. So, when you finally get some time to roleplay and create for yourself, your brain is just done. Not to mention you might also be putting out fires between players, or answering questions when you aren't creating for others. It eats away time and energy like no one's business.

First off, know that it is totally okay to get burnt out, take a step back and tell people "I'm taking some me time." You need to. No one can keep going nonstop, and if all your creativity is for others, you might risk getting to the point where you go "Screw it! I'm out!" and that's not good for anyone, so taking me time benefits everyone in the long run.

I would suggest giving the ones that you are drafting up stuff for a heads up that you will be taking a mini break. Things aren't over, but your brain needs a break, and then indulge in things that you do love. Maybe it's another hobby you have, or letting your brain melt to movies or TV shows that you enjoy, or going for walks whilst listening to tunes. Whatever it is, as long as you enjoy it, and makes you smile. Then after a couple days or a week, come back to it. Over time, you can figure out what signs your brain gives you that it might be building up to another break time and feel better about taking that step back.

Another thing is having a good support system. Having people to vent to, and perhaps some that also understand the burden of campaign running (or whatever it is exactly that you are doing) can help too. It is okay to vent, blow off some steam, and breathe. With venting too, you can take that time to just shut off for the day and do more things that you enjoy. Remember that this isn't a job, because once you feel obligated, it can turn ugly and stressful and that isn't how it should be. <3
