Update:We now have a group! http://www.rprepository.com/g/falloutrp/88 It is in thsi group that the Fallout RP will take place due to the high levels of maturity.
So I'm playing to let's say DM a fallout RP group and I'm making this post to get a feel for who'd be interested in beeing a part of it. Now, this isn't going to be just a roleplay, it's going to be an adventure, a struggle for survival, a big slice of hell.
For those unfamiliar with the fallout world here's a short explenation:
Fallout is set in a post apocalyptic America that was ravaged during the Great War in 2077. 203 years later the survivors are still struggling to survive in the ruined world. Which is in itself no small feat. America has become nothing more than a wasteland, resources are scarce, most get by salvaging from just about anything they can get their hands on. Other by stealing from those, others by hunting those whom steal. Except for other humans the wasteland holds more (un)natural dangers, mutated animals, irradiated areas. In short, it's hell, but that doesn't keep people from trying to live in it. (those persistent Americans.)
This will ofcourse all show itself in the world I am planning to control and you might play a role in. Now a warning beforehand, the post apocalyptic world of America is no nice place to be in and there will most defenetly be cases of beeing punched, stabbed, bonked, slashed, shot, poisoned, irradiated, tortured, mutated, ripped apart, blown up, desintigrated, death, rape (Fade to black applied where desired by me or the players) and a lot more. If this is something you'd rather not have hapenning to your character, I'd say to best not join in.
What will be the ultimate goal of the group in this RP? To survive, to work together as a team to overcome all the dangers the wasteland throws at you. And I hope you have fun whole trying so.
How will this work? Depending on which directiosn the group goes out they will face numerous obstacles that I throw at them. It will be the group's task to try and figure out the best way to deal with the situation they're in and depending on theyr choices they will either survive, be captured, get wounded, die, etc.
Still interested? then it's time to learn about how to make a character! Though don't go making one yet, wait until a few people will defenetly join this and discuss with them how to put the most efficient characters together!
I'm following the simple system of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. this stands for:
Strength: Speaks for itself, the amount of musclemass, how much your character can carry, how hard he can punch.
Perception: Eyes, ears, nose, perception governs how well your character can use his senses.
Endurance: Natural resistances agaisnt deseases, poison, etc. How long your character can do something without fatigue.
Charisma: How charismatic is your character? How skillful is he with words? Sly like a fox? Or subtle like an elephant?
Intelligence: How smart your character is.
Agility: How agile your character is, agile character can sneak better, climb more difficult terrain, etc.
Luck: Speaks for itself.
You have 40 points to distribute over the S.P.E.C.I.A.L., putting in each 0 - 10 points, where 0 is the weakest and 10 is the strongest. Though I would kindly advice you to not keep any of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. between 0 and 2, because that means your character is extremely horrible in that department. An example: A character with 10 strength can run around swinging a minigun above his head, a character with 5 strength is just your average joe, a character with 0 strength.. well how does he even manage to move without any muscle to support his bones?
Your character along with the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. can be profficient in three skills from the upcoming list, though choose them carefully, these skills determine what you can and can't do in the wasteland, somewhat to flesh things out and to keep a balanced team in which not everyone can do everything.
Combat skills
Small Guns: The skill to work with small firearms such as pistols and SMG's.
Medium Guns: The skill to work with medium sized firearms such as assault rifles and snipers.
Big Guns: The skill to work with the largest of firearms such as miniguns and rocket launchers.
Small Energy Guns: The skill to work with small energy based firearms, laser pistols and plasma pistols.
Medium Energy Guns: The skill to work with medium sized energy based firearms such as the laser rifle.
Big Energy Gun: The skill to work with the largest of energy based firearms such as Tesla cannons.
Explosives: The skill to work with mines, dynamire, grenades, jsut baout anythign that goes boom!
Unarmed: The skill to hit someone with your fist until they stop moving.
Small Melee Weapons: The skill to wield small weapons such as knives and iron pipes.
Large Melee Weapons: The skill to wield large weapons such as a sledgehammer or a bumper-sword.
Throwing: The skill to throw weapons at someone such as throwing knives and javelins.
Non-combat skills
Medicine: The know how of the human body and how to treat injuries with and without medical equipment (MUST HAVE SKILL)
Lockpick: The skill to open locks that aren't supposed to open.
Repair: The know how to repair weapons, robots, machines.
Science: The know how to work with computers machinery, programming robots.
Sneak: You're just that much better at crawlign around in the shadows than peopel without this skill.
Survival: The know how to what fruits, vegetables, animals are good to eat and which not, also the know how to gather them and cook them. (MUST HAVE SKILL)
Barter: When talking with merchants, they're more inclined to give you cheaper prices and more money for your items.
Speech: Characters with this skill are more likely to convince others than characters without.
Skills aside, on to fleshing out your character!
You are limited to only making a human character, there are no other sentient races in america, as far as I know.
The world of America pre-Great War was stuck in a 50's sort of theme, thus it is most likely that your character will be wearing old, ragged re-used clothes from that era.
On character story you can live yourself out, though remember this, the more extreme it is, the more likely I'll throw something related to it at you and in the wasteland, that's never a good thing.
If you are interested in knowing more about the fallout world before you decide to flesh out your character you can always contact me or check the fallout wiki.

I already have an idea for a new character going through my mind. I would need time to work them out, but I am definitely interested.
Although not familiar with Fallout, I have been wanting to do something with post apocalyptic roleplay/LD zombies etc, so I'm definitely interested! I also like the setup for the character you provided, it will really help with building the appropriate character.
Mister New Vegas, ladies and gentlemen! Bringing you, the latest of news.
@kuroi: No rush, you've got enough time to work out your character. I am defenetly wanting to start this up slow so everyone has enough time to think about their characters and to converse with other people to fit them together. (Plus I need time myself to write up more both random and plot events, I'd rather have a whole stack prepared in advance =p)
@Sanne I'm glad you like the setup, I was actually afraid it might be scaring some people off! Also you will be seeing a form of zombies in the wasteland. Radiation does a lot of nasty things.
Anyway, glad I've caught the interested of some, would like more! The more the merrier!

Character looks great, I only have one comment.
It might've been bad writing on my part, but the RP plays off 203 years after the war hapenned, so unless she's 203+ years old she couldn't have had a life before the war. Apologies if my short explenation wasn't clear =x
Except for that, character completely approved, now only waiting for Sanne to produce hers or maybe someone else to pop up and we can have a go at it =p
Aha! I've recently gone back to playing New Vegas, as I never got around to finishing this.
I don't personally have the time to keep up with a Fallout RP, but I think it is an excellent idea!

I got this Idea by restarting New Vegas myself =p
Sad to hear that you lack the time though!

Looks good! Approved! Welcome to the group!
For any future people that might be joining: a character with muscle is always welcome, the wasteland might have obstacles that need some lifting.

TBC is putting an amazing amount of effort into prepping this RP. I have a strong suspicion it's going to be really good.
Only those who put effort into something, can reap the fruits it grows,
or something like that xP
or something like that xP
The group has been updated with more information about the setting itself.
Just waiting for the people still working on their characters and then we're good to kick this off.
I am, honestly quite exited about this and hoping everyone will have a good time.

Looks good, approved, we're getting ready to start here!
Heads up to everyone, we're getting near star off time.
We have enough people interested and signed up/working on their characters to have a fairly decent group.
So I'm hoping the launch it of once the last characters have been finished.

Is your character not complete yet, please, the most important things are your stats. That fancy background can be written any time you want.
So put on your best wastelander outfit and get ready!
I'm Mister New Vegas and I can't wait to see you in the Mojave!
(To those growing interested after the lfit of, no fear, you can step in at any time, just produce a character, join the group and get busy!)
