Crysor ducked as some random bit of rubble flew over his head, mentally cursing his outrageously bad luck. He and his smaller friend, Kori, had come to simply visit their old friend Ryoran and catch up on what was happening in each other's lives. But no, of course it couldn't be that simple. Naturally the village had to get attacked by a dragon. It just wouldn't be normal if there wasn't something horribly wrong!
He dragged Kori out of the road and pressed himself against a building, panting hard and looking around for Ryoran. They needed to find him and get the heck out of here- this was insane!
Kori, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying himself immensely. "CRYSOR, LOOK, LOOK! A DRAGON- ISN'T THAT THE COOLEST THING EVER?!"
Yes, of course being almost killed multiple times by a horrific, oddly irate fire-breathing beast is cool. Best thing in the world.

Ryoran was running between houses to hide from the huge red dragon, Horth. "Damn, you need a mint!" The dragon growled and swept his tail around, trying to hit him. When he saw it was impossible with all the houses, he breathed fire. The villagers ran away terrified with their families and whatever else they could carry. Ryoran saw Kori and Crysor there and ran towards them waving. "Hey guys!"
"Hi Ryoran!" Kori called to him, hopping up and down excitedly like nothing bizarre was happening at all and this was a perfectly normal day for them (probably not too far from the truth).
Crysor waved him over frantically, flinching away from the fire and doing his absolute best to keep his cool because he knew if he freaked, these two idiots were as good as dead.

Ryoran picked up some speed until he reached them, the dragon, flying from roof to roof, getting closer. "Nice day, isn't it?" He ruffled Kori's hair. And did a salute at Crysor. "What are you two guys doing here?"
"We were looking for you," Kori told him as Crysor scooped him off his feet and threw the two of them into an alley, nocking an arrow to his bow. "Just to say hi!"
"I'm so happy you came to say 'hi'! But this guy will make us mashed potatoes if we don't leave now." He took a peek at the streets and there he was. Horth wanted his precious egg, and he wanted it right then. Where was the mother, he didn't know, but he needed that egg.
"I like mashed potatoes," Kori commented as Crysor shot Ryoran a look like What'd you steal now?
Ryoran laughed nervously when Crysor looked at him like that. "Ummm we should go. I like mashed potatoes too, but it isn't pretty to be turned to it so let's get going!"
Crysor's shoulders dropped like You're serious? C'mon, man.
"I can imagine- let's leave before we turn into baked potatoes!"
"I can imagine- let's leave before we turn into baked potatoes!"
Ryoran started running again, waving at them to follow. "I know a way out of here!" It was underground, and in that way the dragon wouldn't be able to follow them. It was the perfect plan, now they just had to get there first.
Crysor ducked as another brick or two flew over his head, this time narrowly skimming one of his pointed ears. He was going to kill Ryoran if he lived to see the end of this...
He grabbed Kori by the back of his shirt and dragged him along since the hobbit was having issues keeping up himself, considering he was much shorter and was constantly getting distracted by flames and other scenes of destruction, all of which were rather pretty if you thought about it too much.

Ryoran looked around and then went into an old building. All of those had basements and he knew they were all connected. "Right here!" He called to the others.
Crysor shoved Kori back, gesturing at him to wait. The tall elf quickly slipped into the basement, his bow drawn, and he cautiously looked around in case there was something around here that might try to cause them harm.
"I like the underground just as much as I like the above ground," Kori chatted away pleasantly as if there was no angry dragon outside, "we make our houses underground, you know. Technically speaking, since we build them into hills."

"That's interesting. I personally prefer houses on top of hills, makes you feel like a king." He said smiling at Crysor's cautiousness. Outside, you could hear the dragon's roar.
"We don't need to feel like kings- ooh, Crysor's saying the coast is clear!" He immediately hopped down the hole, landing on Crysor as he did so.
"Everything okay down there?" Ryoran asked poking his head down through the hole, the bag where the egg was slipped from his arm as he did so.
Crysor snarled silently at Kori, shoving him off only to have the bag land in his arms, forcing him to drop his bow and arrow. Still seething at the hobbit, who was commenting on how cool that was and if he could do it again, he looked into the bag and almost immediately closed it again, his eyes widening. He was no fool and he glared up at Ryoran with an expression plainly reading:
Ooh, you're in deep sh*t now.
Ooh, you're in deep sh*t now.
Ryoran landed on his butt and looked up at Crysor sheepishly. "Ha ha, I can explain this."
Crysor looked down at him sinisterly, a hand on his hip as he held out the bag in an annoyed and accusatory way.
"What is it?" Kori asked, hopping around to see it. When he finally caught a glimpse of it, his eyes widened and his mouth formed a big O. "A DRAGON EGG! OH EM GEE CAN WE KEEP IT- OW!"
The last part was because Crysor had rather violently slapped the hobbit on the back of his head, scowling down at the small being. It was obvious he was frighteningly furious at Ryoran and had vented somewhat on hyper little Kori; he was trying to calm himself down but it wasn't exactly working the way he intended.

Ryoran scratched the back of his head. The slap had sounded painful. "Ummm... They are quite expensive, you know, and hard to find."
