Karang blinked at Jukka's reaction, flicking his tongue out to taste the air. Yes, fear was definitely there. This wasn't working.
He wasn't entirely sure which language they were speaking, so he decided to take a different approach and use body language. Noting that these beings seemed to mostly be made of humans with a little animal mixed in, the Amphiptere made a clicking noise that was actually a spell and smoothly morphed into a human with shaggy golden hair and the same multicolored eyes. He kept his wings, however, to maintain the animalism, and grinned at them with overlong and decidedly sharp teeth.

Figuring that Karang could understand him now, El called out, "What do you want?"

"Your soul!" was what Karang replied with a barking laugh, only since he was speaking Draconic it came out as "Shae licarth!"
He laughed and shook his wings out, shedding a brightly colored feather or two as he did so. He paced around the group, studying them curiously, before tilting his head to the side and wondering how to communicate with them. There was always telepathy but that might just scare them more, so instead he held up two fingers in a V: the universal sign of peace, he had come to realize.

Jukka scowled. There was no way he was going to trust this odd fellow. He had always heard stories of people being stranded on tropical islands, and eventually getting eaten by cannibals. "I don't think we should trust this guy..."

El took Karang's meaning, but he agreed with Jukka, "I don't trust these guys..."

Karang's grin faltered when he sensed their negative feelings toward him and he flared his wings before folding them tightly to his back. He padded around them again, sniffing the air and looking a little more cautious himself now as well.

Kuro blinks as she takes in the creature's figure. "peace, it says.." She frowns. "doesn't look like that to me.." Her ears were flattened against her skull and her tail swayed low to the ground. I wish I had my shinai with me.... she thought. "What now...?" she asks, her light blue eyes focused on Karang all the while.

"Just keep calm... Amphipteres are sneaky creatures, in my experience..." El warned

Karang made in incredulous hissing noise at Elemeno's remark, finally sitting on the sand in front of them and watching them with large, multicolored eyes.
He had just been joking when he said he wanted their souls; if he had known. They would take it that seriously he wouldn't have said it. Good going, Karang.

He sighed and looked at Karang, "Do you speak any English."

<If you don't mind my voice in your head, sure. I haven't entirely mastered it verbally yet.> The voice had a vague hint of a Californian accent in it, matching his rugged surfer dude looks. Karang shot him a grin, once again revealing his longer and sharper than normal fangs.

Kuro eyes his sharp fang warily, slightly surprised from the fact that it could talk. "Woah.." she looked to the others with her left ear perking upwards while the other stays low into her hair. "Did you guys hear that too?.." Curiosity lit up her eyes as she stared back at Karang, slowly relaxing her stance. "Who.. or what are you?.. are there more of you here? Where is this place?"

El was surprised but didn't let it show, "Fine. What do you want?" he asked again.

<The name's Karang Kandirarak, I'm a Belize Amphiptere, I'm the only here that I know about, I have no idea what this place is called, and I just want to have fun.> The last part was directed at Elemeno. <You guys seem fun.>

Kuro's right ear flicked in awe. "How do you talk... In here?" she asked as she pointed to her head. She was now completely relaxed and with that, fatigue replaced her adrenaline pumped blood, causing her to plop on the sandy floor. "oh! and... you're not a danger to us... right?" she asked cautiously.

"Fun might be the wrong word," he jabbed a thumb towards the wrecked cruise ship, "Any friends and family we had aboard that thing are probably dead now, and we're stuck on an island that might not even be charted."

<Telepathy.> He said it like it was no big deal. <I'm not a danger to you if you're not a danger to me. And I highly doubt this island is charted, that's the whole reason I came here.>

"Well we all want to get home. I don't like the idea of being stuck on an island with strangers forever..." he grumbled, "And I'm gonna get hungry after a few weeks... That won't bode well for anyone else here..." he thought the last part, making sure to keep his mind shut in case the dragon could read his mind.

Kuro's stomach growls loudly, making her blush a deep crimson red. "You said a few weeks...." She covers her stomach with her hands, frowning. "I need food..." Her white snow leopard ears stayed low into her black hair as her tail laid lifelessly on the sand beside her. She heaves a sigh, pursing her lips and glances at the werewolf boy. "welp.. there is no use staying here doing nothing I suppose..." she turns her attention to the neko boy. "Are you hurt anywhere? hungry?"

"We could potentially die here, unless he can show us some meat," he pointed a thumb at Karang, "I've still got a very long time to live. I don't intend to end it from starvation."
