"Kssh... this is commander Whistler of Fireteam Umbra, all surviving units please respond... kssh" he said through his helmet, looking around as he waved the flashlight-mounted Assualt Rifle at the strange, leaking pods that have infested the Cruise Ship, the S.S Bermuda. his whole platoon was separated from him, and none seemed to respond. He asked again, no response. Just then, he heard yelling. "Captain! Captain!" the man yelled, causing Clyde to run to where he heard the voice. The man was wrapped inside of some type of slimy web. "Simons! What the hell!" Clyde yelled, pulling out his knife as he tried to free the Private. As he tried, he heard wet and squishy footsteps with weird inhuman breathing. Their stood 3 aliens, each staring at him with beady eyes. "C-Captain, run!" the private yelled, as they approached Clyde, causing him to take aim and fire at the three aliens... Then there was silence.

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (generation ships)
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
