I just find it awfully confusing my teammate/friend is like "so how many RAM does your computer have?" and I'm just sitting there like "ummmmmm... English, please?"
And then my dad starts talking to him about technology and I have no idea what they're talking about.

No, it's based off of the idea that every subatomic particle is made up of a one dimensional piece of looped string, and that the movements of that string affect everything. It gets more complicated than that, but that is one part.
