You know what? This place is awesome the way it is. That's why I want to help make it awesomer. So here's my idea: a control panel type thing. In theory, it could let you make a signature for yourself, and show you how many posts you have made, and when you were last active. I don't know if anything like this was suggested before, but it sounded like a good idea to me.
We already have an "Account Info" page here: http://www.rprepository.com/account.php
But it doesn't register the amount of posts you made or your last activity, that might be useful information to include there.
One thing that does come to mind is that if the account info page keeps track of posts made, does it count all OOC AND IC board posts as one? Or separately? We'll also have more users requesting for their post count to be made public, which we weren't in favor of out of 'competition' reasons (potentially spamming to up the post count or playing favorites because someone can post more often).

Well, depending on how hard the techy stuff is, I'd say it could register both, seeing that its two different forums. But preferably only IC, because if you did OOC, that would be a spam fest. Probably for the posts to be made public, it would be a good idea if it was only shared with friends.

The public post count thing is actually complicated by anonymous characters and group forums being visible to differing demographics. I'm less worried about competition these days than the database itself being overloaded and needing overhauling. Basically, the counter would be slow and burdensome for the database because it would have to count differently for different viewers, making caching pretty much impossible.
I've so far been dead-set against signatures because I have seen them badly, terribly abused on 99% of every other forum I've ever visited which allowed them. Giant images stretching out the page and increasing load times, flashing gifs distracting from the reading experience, etc. etc. If we ever add this, I will make it subject to some pretty severe restrictions, and the moderators would find themselves with another job to do.
If by last activity you mean the last time you accessed the site, I'm not sure of the use of it since it would always show the current time when you accessed the account page! If you mean seeing your last post, you can use Forums > Your Posts.
EDIT: I just tried creating a private post count for the account page, and even when just searching for user + characters, it was kinda hairy. I'd rather wait until I can find a good way to rebuild the forum code for better speed. Sorry!
